    Cogent, coherent, and the best articulation of the Christian position for this topic I have found yet. Thank you for posting this for our organizations' review and consideration. We must all be so well versed on the topic and act more faithfully to love as you admonish and deeply care for everyone struggling in their various areas of brokenness.

    Thank you for the sharing. Recently turns of events God graciously save me from suicide and brought me out of depression because of my problems with my bf. We broke up eventually. God made me reconsider my faith again and I have been listening and reflecting on my lifestyle decision and biblical truth. It's really a hard truth on what it means to deny self and carry our cross. I really hope moving forward, I can please God and honour God with my life.

    Wow, Dr. Wesley presented a cogent response to a highly volatile subject with ease of understanding. I look forward to reading his book for my doctoral studies in the next few days. So glad I came across this video. I believe this is the epitome of reasoning together when it comes to the scriptures. Thank you CBN for posting it and Dr. Wesley for your amazing response.

    Homosexuality - like heterosexuality and bisexuality - is a state, condition or orientation. As such, they are morally neutral. The words homosexuality, heterosexuality and bisexuality never appear in the Bible because they were coined in 1892 by Charles Gilbert Chaddock in a translation of Richard von Krafft-Ebing's study on sexual practices.
    And this is the point: Even if one agrees that the Biblical descriptions of carnality do in fact correlate to our present-day understanding through the use of those terms, nowhere in the Bible is homosexuality itself condemned - only its practice. Nowhere in the Bible is heterosexuality itself condemned - only its practice outside of Biblical marriage.
    Failure to distinguish clearly between the state of homosexuality and its acts is sloppy thinking at best and homophobic at worst.

      Paul Weidig so what is your point? I am not having a go at you I'm genuinely asking! Are you saying that the practice is wrong and sinful? Or do you think its acceptable to God and it's between them and God? I don't understand it all and why it is so wrong! I mean some people are clearly that way and you can see it when they are young because they are effeminate or even some are just more creative and then they come out as gay when they are older!

    • @BakinKoljac
      @BakinKoljac 6 лет назад +5

      he is saying that the act is a sin but not the state in itself. because you can be in that state and learn to deal with it in a christian way, for example by celibacy, as dr. Hill does it

    So many marriages are horrible examples of the heterosexual world. Children are born into thesw very bad marriages and suffer horrible adverse childhood experiences. How can anyone preach that the ideal is always heterosexual? Give mea break. Half of today's marriages end in divorce.

    Just blessed I don't struggle with this kind of insecurity! I just am myself. I have my own insecurities however I am able to face it when I need to. I am just glad I don't feel overwhelmed about my sexuality that I make an identity out of it and beat myself up cause of what society thinks of me. Society can go screw itself

    Name anywhere in the bible that celebrates a samesex couple or even an unmarried one. Asking out of ignorance as a person who has experienced samesex attractions and heterosexual relationships

    I still question why if Gods design is heterosexual, why was I born gay ( yes, I believe I was born this way and at 56, it’s not changing ) … why did he make me this way if it’s not his plan…. It just doesn’t make sense. … I have finally accepted it and try not to act on it …but it doesn’t make sense. …. There is no good answer to my problem. Only God knows and that must be sufficient

    Two concerns....first, the word "Gay" is only used once in Scripture and it is describing a type of clothing, and second, in Romans Chapter one, we see that those who are practicing these wicked sexual acts are doing so because they did not want to retain God in their knowledge, therefore God gave them over to a reprobate mind. So you are right, they didn't "choose to be gay" but rather once they are given over by God, their animal instincts come alive with the resultant deviant activity. Your thoughts?

      The B in LGBT also stands for Bible and that's for the people who identify their sexuality with the Bible. Bible-Sexuality is the only sexuality that's a choice! When you are asked to state your gender and sexual identity you can proudly say Bible-Sexual! Bible-Sexuals believe in Corinthians 6:9 so chastisement is how their sexuality is expressed and they relieve their tension during mass, held several times a week. During mass they exchange the natural use of their bodies for a biblical definition, even the women! So they burn with lust for one another and do what's against nature and inconvenient. God detests the Bible-Sexuals also known as the Spiritually Sodom. They worship a character and don't listen. They are fornicating idolaters. And their mating rituals lead to outbursts of vile affections. Even dogs know their Master's Voice. But just as in the days of Jesus the religious people refuse to listen.

    Seven verses. Yes. But try out some whole chapters? NT. Gal 5. Romans 8. All have sinned. All are invited into Christ. Broader picture. And also - define say sexual immorality. Define envy, jealousy, fits of rage. Which are easier to 'pin down'? I'll go for the Gospel. And leave Sodom to it. And Hey Jude - I have Paul to choose from too. This isn't rage. Just a bit angry. Too many good folk are suffering.

    This raises an issue beyond the question of homosexuality and the church. I'm thinking of a host of identifiers who have their own idea of how much their gender, or sexual orientation, their race or religion, their class or their physical or mental features, figure in the estimation of the people they deal with in the course of living, whether those people can be assumed to be of good will or not.Whether in the world of the church or outside it the movement to get in the face of the general public on these issues has resulted in the church world stumbling sometimes toward welcome, nevertheless compelled to choose between affirmation or denial. At one time Christians would rely on 'love the sinner not the sin'. Add to that the reason why some Christians will not drink alcohol; they don't want to lead others into temptation. To bring an end to this post: is everybody going to come out of the closet? Are all sinful natures going to confess their sins? Or are Christians going to find their gift in the church and put it to use and save their confessions for an appropriate outlet? Perhaps if a congregant finds a sinner in the midst he should confront him, accompanied by another; or take it to the leadership. Anyone with a question should be able to inquire of his spiritual leader. The heart is deceitful above all things, and it is exceedingly corrupt: who can know it? So, maybe better not to wear it on the sleeve.

      You have a good point, and at the same time, we are called to confess our sins, in order to comprehend our need for a Savior, which, I think we agree, can be handled discreetly within the pastor's office. But if you ARE the pastor, or an elder or officer of the church, then I think it is incumbent on you to confess to those you serve. I don't think Pastor Hill is making public statements for the purpose of celebrating his homosexuality, but rather to calm the waters, so to speak, by offering a Bible-based, well-considered, compassionate voice to a subject which is divisive among the church. There may be a rainbow of options available to humans, but holy white light is what Christians are called to reflect. Pastor Hill's cross is a heavy one; if he is following Jesus, then it's also incumbent on us to help him carry it. When Jesus needed help, no one volunteered -- it took a Roman guard to conscript it. We must do better than that.

      I understand that by saying this you're trying to be kind but it's kind of horrible to hear when you're a gay Christian because it doesn't happen for most of us. For the majority we're left to grapple with singleness and loneliness and figure out how we fit into God's church
