How many performances of this song have you heard that have moved more? Well, I realize that is a matter of opinion but I love it for reasons some could imagine.
Very moving performance, but there is still the matter of that perpetuated wrong note at 3:26-3:27 in the melody. it definitely should be A Sharp, not B, and there are actually some editions that make that correction, based on the fact that Chopin himself acknowledged this and made the correction in a copy that he entrusted to a student. This apparently has been lost by the wayside for many, although one can catch performances of this exquisite movement with the note corrected.
Well, Chopin erased the 6/4 to 3/2 in the original manuscript, it was meant to be played faster by the very genius who wrote it. Why argue with Master Chopin? It's a thoughtful interpretation, but yes, too slow.
I think this is waaaay tooooooo slooooooooowwwww. The slower you play this piece, the greater the chance you lose the impact of the melody. It's beauty and delicacy are intertwined with its brevity.
Personally I don't think he loses the melody line or architecture of the piece here. He is interpreting it more like a nocturne, or perhaps a meditation. It reminds me of several people who wrote that Liszt preferred slower tempos when playing.
Magnificent performance. Gorgeous tone, incredible depth of expression.
I don't believe its possible to play this more deeply than this performance.
Absolutely gorgeous
There is so much emotion in this work which makes it so wonderful.

So beautiful.....
Bravo! Amo esse pianista.
До слёз.
Seems so easy and yet so difficult to interpret this piece so beautifully. It could be seen as a Nocturne.
yep ive played it, its not to hard technically but interpreting this piece is incredibly hard
MAESTRO!
Very slow, yes, but completely justified. This is one of the most moving performances I have ever heard.

Yes
i would nickname this: "The Lullaby"
that's how its supposed to be played. its marked lento on the music

You should hear Pogorelich's version then.
Some believe this is the only correct way to play this Chopin Prelude. Others insist it is too slow

So much pain in it.
Plays so slow but so good
The overall slow speed is fine but his continuous variation of tempo - speeding up, then slowing down from bar to bar - I find rather exaggerated.
Far too much Rubato, yes, a play style Chopin hated.

Ok
The actual tempo for this is Lento, so I actually believe the other performances are way too fast.
