This is awesome. You are real and don’t try to come off as an expert. The rest of us novices appreciate it!!!!
Thank you so much. I am just like you and far from an expert. I just really liked this product.
Nice job. If you let the acrylic dry on the roller handle and once it get hard you can use a utility knife to start to pull a strip of the dried acrylic off. Once you have a strip you can pull, just peal off the acrylic. Can do the same with buckets. Come out nice and clean. No mess.
Good to know. Thank you.
2 coats are for maximum durability and longevity. Also the 2nd closes up any pin hole pours that may have been missed by the 1st coat. Hope this helps
Yes. I should have done two coats for sure.
Looks good. It's a 25% solids product so it's not stain proof but is better than nothing. Little/No prep is needed on this sealer. UV light is what breaks it down so interior work may see a reseal every 10-15 years vs exterior being 2-4 years.
That looks good, I imagine a second coat would give the floor a truly magnificent gloss. Thanks for creating and posting your video.
saturnthunder thank you so much.
U talk to much, just show the product, and how it's supposed to be used.looks like u want attention
@@anahigarza8308 u a hater! It is his channel and video. You do know that youtube has the ability to forward through the video as much as you want right?!
He talks about this early in the video he said they look the same
@ exactly! 💯🤣
Thank you for this entertaining and accurate video/tutorial. My shop floor (1200sq ft) turned out AMAZING. I'm turning it into an events venue and the gloss on the seal made all the lights pop and reflect from the floor creating additional illumination. Eagle Gloss is a good and cost effective product. I wish I could share my b4&after pictures here. Anyway job completed with "accurately measured" dish soap in the mop bucket and donned sox! Good call.
So happy to hear this. Thank you for watching.
Question, does the floor get slippery is rain or snow gets on it? Thanks in advance!
Do u have a video or pics posted?? I want to see the results from this
Thank you for this video. I love your sense of humor along with the top tier tutorial. I'm happy to see it's holding up even after 3 years. These videos give me nostalgia of working outside with my dad. Thank you very much my friend
Thank you so much for this. Thank you.
Muriatic acid cleanses, etched and preps concrete for applications of any type sealant.
not recommended for epoxy because it can cause it to debond
Just wanted to tell you thanks for answering my questions awhile back. We are gonna do our floors this weekend. I called eagle with a few other questions and I told them I had heard about them from a RUclips video. Their response was, “are you talking about that guy with the cars?” He was super nice and said they were probably going to reach out to you because you have a lot of followers. My guess is they have received a lot of business from your videos.
Anyway thanks again.
PeterDanielle Willcott that’s awesome. Keep me posted and thank you so much.
I have a two car garage and was looking for a simple solution, something let me wash the floor sometimes and don't worry about some small spills, so here I found the product, thanks
This is perfect for that.
I'm an old time diy er and I swear by sealing concrete over painting!!! Nice job!! Like your garage too!!
Thank you so much. I totally agree with you. :)
Im working on an old concrete store building and turning it into a craft shop. I will try this on the floor and see how it comes out. Thanks for the video.
I was about to go through the trouble of staining my floors and doing sealer then saw this video. Returning my stain now and going with this. I have a 30x45 shop! Man thank you so much fo keeping it easy. :)
Still the best choice for the price I have made. You will love it.
@@JohnEngel I love the color and the natural transparency of the sealer. I just ordered the eagle gloss, it takes a week but worth the wait. Going to do the prep now and just wait!
@@Hotrod_haji keep me posted. I really think you are going to love this.
John, awesome product I did the interior of my beach house.
NOTE: On new fresh poured concrete you need to allow the concrete to cure 72 hours minimum, and for best results mist slab every 3 hours for one day.
Yuri Pantic hello and thank you so much for this. I totally forgot to mention the part about waiting until the slab is completely cured. I didn’t know about the misting but great advice.
@@JohnEngel Yes, the mist is so you can save that second coat. concrete sponges lots of humidity is subject to weather if your garage was poured and not sealed and sat for more then a week this actually helped to close the pores of the concrete allowing to use less of the sealer.
On my job sites, when we pour slabs, we hose them down ones a day after the slab has cured, nice work!
I love it. Shopping for a client who owns an event facility. Can't wait to share this video. Thank you.
Thank you so much. :)
Products on construction have become so diverse, however, they've opened up the opportunity for people to choose exactly what they need from those products. Therefore, someone's Garage might need this sealer because of their needs, but someone else will need epoxy for his/her garage because of their needs. That concept is very crucial to so many people and making things harder to understand but more reliable and useful to the specific needs that they're made for.
- I believe that we are entering an era where companies will give us their products according to the information they acquire from us about our specific problems or needs..., just like going to the hospital and getting questions for the treatment to be executed or prescriptions.
I understand exactly what you’re saying. I am not affiliated with the company at all, but was looking for something to cover a large space that would not be in the thousands. A two-part Apoxsee would have been my best bet but the amount that I saved by using the sealant was in my best interest.
I don't think the 2 coats Is for looks , its for durability.
I think you are correct as well.
Concrete takes quite a while to fully cure. I would recommend waiting quite a while before putting any kind of sealer on concrete as the moisture will be trapped, and ruin the finish.
Nice, I'm going to seal my husband's shop for Christmas thanks!
A dream for many people. Your garage is has more square footage (square meters) than the average house in England (and probably a lot of other countries).
Francis Donnelly thank you so much. I feel truly blessed to have it and understand completely.
Looks great.... Can't wait to see the vehicles in the new home.
Gary Feenstra you and me both. They are working on the front now.
I love it. I am going to do a basement and garage with this. I never fuel anything in the garage and store all but generator and vehicles in a shed.
Best bang for the buck for sure. :)
I was looking for a way to seal the cement in my basement and was looking primarily at those DIY garage epoxy systems. But this may be a far cheaper way to do the same thing.
I do this for a job.
Firstly; the concrete should be left for 4 weeks, for the salts to come out before washing and sealing.
2. l leave it to dry for 2 days (especially in a garage or shed) to dry; as moisture can turn the sealer white.
3. it is a penetrating sealer, so if the surface isn’t porous enough, the sealer will delaminate.
4. The concrete will not be sealed properly with only one coat.
5. The life span of clear sealers is very short. Use a coloured sealer for longer life.
6. It looked shiny with one coat, because it was still wet.
I think there is a lot of bad advice given!!
Good luck.
Redlands concrete cleaning and sealing. Australia
Great information. Thank you so much.
All I need to know is when will you be here in Texas, so ready to get my floors done after 20 years in the same house and no change the flooring
I go to Aston all the time. :)
Two coats is for durability and it’s meant to run a buffer over it to create a glass like smooth surface. The buffer will burn through some of it so that’s why two coats
I will tell you that a minimum of 2 coats should be used. Lol. You live and learn.
this guy spent half the video on the mopping and cleaning. GREAAAAT
Lol. Best comment today. ;)
Dude good info. Thanks I am grateful
Thank you so much.
Great Video man! Love the value you show with this product!!
Same here. Thank you so much.
That leaf looked like a dog turd for a sec. What a relief 😂
Lol. 😂🤣
Loving your home improvement videos
Thank you so much.
Good job. Yes I will wear a mask. I like Superclean degreasser for jobs like this. Good prep. It’s important.
I have a rough finish on my concrete. It was left without being smoothed when laid. Will this fil in the rough areas and level everything so I can move a motorcycle jack with a heavy bike on without it getting hung up on the rough finshed floor?
If you add enough it will help with that but it’s not made to do this. The first coat will be absorbed by the porous concrete, each subsequent coat that you put on will help to smooth it out.
@@JohnEngel That could make it the million dollar garage floor, lol. Thanks for your videos. I enjoy them.
No the guys that finished it should have finished it right
Rent a marble buffer and put weight on it...use 30 grit sandpaper then 60 then 80 wet ... before you seal...no easy way out...hard trowel epoxy over it...still alot of work... Terrazzo worker 34 years
Wow can tell you're a pro. Pros always install scaffolding immediately prior to coating a garage floor.
Lmao. When you have a timeline you do what you can. I can tell you know a pro when you see one. Lmao
You know you have to have a garage floor mopped and coated in Florida to avoid fleas, yes fleas. Fleas live in in crevasses
Does it prevent moisture from coming threw? Thanks for sharing your video!
Not really. You can still see the moisture coming up. It does seem to keep some of it below but I’m not thinking it was designed for this.
Fantastic product for low $$. Your garage looks bigger than my house 🤣. Greetings from the UK 🇬🇧 Subbed ya 👍
Thank you so much. Glad to have you. :)
Can a paint be added to this product?
Awesome buddy. Many thank. Just bought my dream house and will use this stuff
You will love it.
Man, that's worth twice the price. I wonder can you stain the floor before application if you wanted to? It's pretty awesome.
Sealed ad so much easier to keep clean
Great question. I have not used it on a stained floor but color can be added to the sealant.
The sealer might re generate the stain ...try a sample first to see ...if you spray the first coat shouldn't be a problem... rolling might re liquify the stain and make a mess
Garden hose + push broom and a bottle of dish soap, way more efficient. It’s how we clean the fire station bay floors.
I like this a lot. I agree that would’ve been the best way to do it.
Good video, how’s it holding up?
@@AllenRob87 so far I have been really happy with it. I made a video on just that.

How about in areas where you get snow and salt on your car from the roads and it melts and turns into salt water?
salt water isn't a solvent
@@zacs509 you got that right!
@@Nelixca you are agreeing with my comment even though I'm disagreeing with your question
Thanks for this video. I will be doing it this summer in Canada
You will be amazed for the price and results.
Appreciate the video John. I just did my garage with Eagle gloss coat based on your review. Looks great, and I'm happy with the product. Not a big deal but I used a 1/2" nap roller that left some unwanted texture in the surface finish. Did you experience this too? Wondering if a 3/8" roller would finish for a smoother surface. Thanks again!
James I know you will love it. Mine did not have a texture at all. It was very even and level.
@@JohnEngel mine spread pretty even and covered well in 2 coats. I think a 3/8 nap roller would leave a smoother finish than what I used. Either way, really glad I used this product!
I use a rubber spreader like you use to take water off a window.
Hey how has the gloss held up overtime? Has it wore off from vehicle traffic at all?
First off kudos on this video. 💯
But, the real gold here.
"Keep waiting." Like my wife... "Keep waiting." 🤣
Very nice info thank you. I have one question please:
Is it slippery when wet?
It definitely is very slippery when wet. You can add aggregate to it, which will help with that.
You've just convinced me to go with a concrete sealer instead of epoxy flooring :)
For the price you really can’t beat it.
Nice I like the before and after.
Nathan Hunter thank you. It was the best bang for the buck.
Please do a follow-up video on this so we can see how it holds up after a year and again at 2 years.
Here you go. :)

You sure had a lot of sunshine coming thru the base of the walls.
Nice video! What did you use to patch cracks? Did you diamond the surface? THanks!
@@NYAgency495 the person that did the cement work did the patch. I didn’t Diamond the surface. It was just a standard finish.
Need to do this on my garage this summer
Enzo Fxx it’s been the best bang for the buck that I have done.
Nice video, I am painting my garage floor with concrete paint. Can I use this over that paint or is it only for bare concrete?.
When sweeping the garage try using a sweeping compound to sweep up the fine dust.
I m going to order it. Thanks for the tip. Great finish.👍
I think you will love it. Best bang for the buck.
Can you add it over a painted floor?
@@jessicastanco3035 yes Jess
Nice. Throw about another 2 or 12 buckets on, and you're golden. Better to do whatever .. with your coating of choice, when it's new concrete. With epoxy, once the initial is on and cured, its easier to take it down, for repairs. I have never used your product, but for epoxy .. I put 1/8" or more on my floors. All when new.
I agree 100%
I know the feeling my wife makes me wait too.
Michael Valone Lol. So true.
@@JohnEngel my wife never makes me wait... what a great wife I have :)
@@QSing999 you are so lucky. Lol
I wonder if you could roll this onto cheap vinyl floors in kitchens and bathrooms to waterproof it for cheap.
That’s a great question. I do believe this product is meant to be used on concrete because it is absorbed into the material and I do not think that it would do that with vinyl.
Hi, great video. I just painted my floor with white Epoxy paint. It has more of a mat finish. Do you think this is good for me to use to give the floor a smooth shinny look? Also, the biggest question..... is it really clear or will it turn my floors an off-white/yellow color?
Unfortunately, this product should be used on bare concrete. If you use it over epoxy it will not be able to adhere properly. This product is 100% clear.
You are hilarious and fun to watch and learn, great job!
Thanks for watching!
Looks great
Definitely two coats in the garage one coat in the basement is the right application
I totally agree.
Exactly what I was looking for! Thanks for the video. Looks great! Can't wait to do my basement.
Glad it was helpful! Thank you
How'd it go by chance? Thinking doing my garage for my son...
I just don't see putting any single component sealer top coat over a surface with standing dust like that without future adhesion issues, would like to see how this floor look in 2022? Epoxies and most two component poly-urethanes will lock in loose dust though.
I know exactly what you are saying. I did post a three year review.
Can this be done on indoor concrete floor?
It can be as long as you have ventilation to help with the fumes and smell. After 3 days the smell is gone.
Thanks brother... I been searching ... all product... this is kinda cheap but it look great ... this is my summer project...👍👍👍👍👍
Diid you acid etch beforehand?? If not, it will peel in a few years. I know from my own garage :(
I did not etch before but I did put it on new concrete each time. So far no pealing after 3 years. Knock on wood.
i dont like coating when you get oil on the floor its a death trap and if a get oil on the floor I use a red robin seasoning shaker filled with portland cement or flyash from my coal stove and the stain go's away. thanks for sharing
Great video! Thanks for taking the time to show your process. I think this is the route I will be taking.
Brad Zwaska for the money it’s hard to beat this product. Keep us posted.
Just has the dirt hauled in and leveled off. No turning back now. Will do!
Brad Zwaska that’s awesome. Making good progress.
Awesome, 2 coats of for long lasting shine and protection, not looks. It will look the same, but if bother garages had the same amount of traffic, the one with one coat would wear out faster. Thanks again for sharing.
Perfectly stated.
I wonder if a second coat was applied and allowed to cure what burnishing would do or would it FUBAR it.
Looks great and Happy Trails.
That is a great question. I am not exactly sure.
Since you've had the gloss coat on for a while and you didn't etch the concrete, is it pulling up or breaking away from the concrete floor?
Not at all. It’s been years and no issues at all.
Super hack right here! I can’t wait to do my floors!
you will love the results.
The problem with garage floor coatings is tires are hot after a long drive and when hot tires meet floor coating, it deforms and peels
I have seen that happen first hand. Knock on wood, so far after 5 years in the SC heat we have had no issues.
That looks great John. Do you think Mica powder would work for tinting this? My wife and I are buying our first home and it has a 25x30 shop and this is the first thing I want to do to the shop before I move all my woodworking tools in. Thanks for the informative video.
I don’t know about Mica powder but I do know this project can be tinted. Just check with you local paint store for the correct tint.
John,
What size nap should I use for this product? I got to do my entire barnaminum floors roughly 2400 sq ft so I bought 10 gallons worth
You are going to love the result. Any of the high-density nap rollers will work. Eagle makes some that are specifically for this. :)
Dude, thank you so much for this video. I made the mistake of going with the Behr wet-look sealer in my studio. I put on two coats and the wet-look just wasn't there. Not even close to what the brand themself claimed. I plan on re-doing this project and was shopping around for other brands. I think Eagle Gloss Sealer is a winner for my next project.
So far I have loved this product and I think you will too. :)
If Glaze n seal is still around their products are amazing.
@@rapid13 I’ll have to try them.
I heard you say 30 x 50. How much did you use? My race shop is 40 x 60 with diamond cut polished floors. I’d like to bring that real shine back. I wonder if you can apply it over that polish that’s already on there?
I used around 2 gallons. It is designed to go over a bare concrete surface.
Beautiful man great job you inspired me to do my own now thank you
Thank you.
Is this the oil base product? It now is in a black can and covers 1000 sq. ft. Is this the same product you used from Home Depot? I was hoping to use the same product to do 1200 sq. ft.
Looks good!
The one that I used is EAGLE GLOSS COAT is a clear pure acrylic concrete sealer. It can come in a black can just need to make sure that its the acrylic version.
Your comment on spilling gas on the floor after stain has been applied causing stickiness. Is this easy to fix by just patching up by reapplying on sticky area or is prepping required?
Yes. After it has dried you can reapply.
Ok I'll look into it
If you're concerned with gas spilling you really should consider an epoxy or urethane product. They apply the same way and cost a little more but last 2 - 3 times longer and aren't as susceptible to gas or other chemicals.
I cant find this product at HD or Lowes. Please, where can I get this??
I bought mine at Lowe’s online.
Been looking for sealer for my new shop. You have sold me on the product... I plan to seal my floor next week.
Let me know how it goes.
Hi I'm Derrick,,I have specialist into floors works like concrete stamps,, concrete designs but I'm much interested in your job,, hopefully I will like to bring it to Ghana

Is the sealer clear, or does it have color? I want to cover up some paint where part of my concrete garage floor has paint on it and the other part does not.
@@carolynwolfe5023 it comes clear. A pigment can be added if wanted.
Are you still happy with it driving on it has it mess it up at would love to know how it looks now. Or have you had to fix any spots. I have a new house moving in this week and really want to do this but worried about long term
booostedtc I am still very happy with it and if you go to my channel I even have a 3 year review posted with details.
Hello good sir...hey did you need to use any phosphoric etcher on your smooth concrete prior to rolling the Eagle on?
I did not. Just cleaned and applied.
May I ask, does the floor get slippery? Thanks!
Its does. They sell an aggregate that you can add to the sealant to help. I should have done that.
John Engel Thanks! Will look for it.
What is that membrane layer on the bottom of the metal garage roof? Is that just plastic or insulation? I just saw the build video, so I guess its some type of moisture barrier. Looks great. I have the exact same garage style and size, but I used 1.5" insulation throughout, next step is this cement sealant. Thanks and great vid!
You are correct. It was put up to make sure that we had no condensation drips. :)
Looks great! How is the traction when it is wet? Thanks for sharing.
It does get slippery when wet. Some people have added an aggregate but I did not. It might be something that I try next time.
Thinking about doing this to my bedrooms.
Just keep in mind that it is slippery when wet.
Also, did you use the concrete sealer, THEN the clear coat? I was about to purchase this right now, but it says not to apply it directly over concrete
Thomas Chung it’s just a sealer, no clear coat.
@@JohnEngel thanks so much! Can wait to get this done!
Thomas Chung I used the Gloss Coat.
@@JohnEngel last question, did you find that etching was necessary on a brand new floor or did you skip this step?
Thomas Chung all of my applications have been on new floors so I have never done any etching.
I have to imagine that you need more than soap and water to prep an older garage that already has various stains and oil on it.
Absolutely, you would want to use an acid and even do a sanding.
I wanna do it on wood flooring in my salon would that work
Red W. That’s a great question. I haven’t used it on wood but I would think it would work.
I think I'm just gunna paint it got conformation absolutely not to because the wood soaks it up and cracks creakes over time darnet
Red W. Great information. Thank you for letting me know.
@@JohnEngel grateful some else did trial and error plus the foot work so I or anybody else dosent have to
Hello sir after concrete flooring
How can I apply epoxy ?
Can you please tell me how to use epoxy effectively ?
Epoxy is much different than the sealant in the video.
Have you got a followup video showing how it has held up after the 6 months or so it has been in?
Ross Fawcett great idea. I will try to get one done very soon. Thank you for the great idea.
Just did this one.
ruclips.net/video/8YeAnEoHhQg/видео.html
Could you put painters tape or Vaseline on your tools to make clean up easly
I’m sure you could. :)
Did you have to sand or etch the floor first
I did not. It was a fresh pour so I just went right over it.
Hi John looks great I live in Colorado and we get some snow . How does the surf hold up when it's wet. Is it really slippery?
Hello, this will make your floor very slippery when wet. You can add some aggregate to the product for better grip.
LOVE THIS, going to do the exact same thing.
For the price it’s the best I have found.
Can this be used on a garage floor that occasionally gets flooded because of the location of the house near water.
It can but large amounts of water will puddle a lot.
