My brother and I and our girlfriends saw Muddy Waters perform live at the Golden Bear in Huntington Beach, CA in 1973. An hour into the performance a harmonica blasted out from the back of the room, and my brother recognized the musician, and told me who it was, and then Muddy said, "Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome Paul Butterfield!" And they blew the roof off!

If you want to know just how much influence the blues and great blues men and woman had on rock and roll, this is where the Rolling Stones got their name along with the magazine Rolling Stone. There is a deep respect in rock and roll for their blues godfathers and godmothers. The Rolling Stones themselves do a killer version of this song, it's on the Love you Live album, side 3, recorded at the legendary El Macombo night club in Toronto. The Stones would play a small venue as a warm up before going on tour.

Muddy said the album title, “Hard Again” was because the record came out so good, it made his little pee pee hard again. I read that somewhere around the time the record was released in 1977. Johnny Winter’s great production, guitar and vocals helped make Muddy relevant once more after he was nearly left behind. The entire release is a classic.

Blues singers came to britain in the 50s and 60s that is what was a huge influence on our bands we were all listening to it and then to see them . Another influence was Sister Rosetta Tharpe who visited in 1958 she could sing and play the guitar like no else at the time.

That's Roots Music. He brought it to Chicago from the Mississippi Delta, the home of the Blues. Did you hear him sing "Like a rolling stone"? That lyric and this man who wrote it is where the Rolling Stones took their name from. Keep in mind that Muddy Waters and Howlin Wolf and Robert Johnson are where British Blues came from, and where British Rock came from -- the Stones have a really excellent album with Muddy, and there's an amazing video of Jagger coming up on stage and performing with him in a small club in Chicago. He also was strongly influential on Eric Clapton of Cream and Derek and the Dominoes. You should also check out these other Muddy Waters songs: "Rollin' and Tumblin'," "Baby Please Don't Go," "Rollin Stone," and "I'm Your Hoochie Coochie Man." In addition to Waters, the other great original was Howlin Wolf, an amazing stage presence with an unforgettable voice.Other blues performers you might want to check out besides Waters and Wolf -- B.B. King (one of the very greatest), Robert Johnson (the first bluesman to record, reputed to have sold his soul to the devil, and strongly influential on Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin and Keith Richards of the Stones), Son House (an early great), John Lee Hooker, Leadbelly, Mississippi Fred McDowell, Mississippi John Hurt, and Buddy Guy (the greatest living Chicago Blues Man).

This means you can name a musical style(maybe with the exception of classical), and Muddy Waters influenced it,( Blues, Country, Jazz, Rock). All the Kings from B.B. to Albert can't come close to Muddy. List the best guitarist ever, from Segovia, Django , Hendrix, to McLaughlin, and Muddy is also in their company.

Johnny Winter produced this record. Johnny loved Mud and did some great work for him. They toured with Johnny sharing guitar duties. The upgraded accommodations were a nice change from the usual. One of Muddy's band later said, " I found out what the A treatment is like."
The title is a contraction of something Muddy said. He hadn't made anything like this in years and said the music they were making made his pee pee "hard again".
