      yeah, exactly. without imitating at all but still not "spoiling" them but only adding new "flavour" them..... i love the singing very much. i sing most of these songs too but i can't play the guitar so well .... my big respect and true appreciation of this good job !

    Jethro Tull - that means the highest musical level, which "Minstrel In The Gallery" made its unmistakable mark in 1975. "Baker Street Muse" is one of the most complex and eclectic long works of rock that I know. Incredibly brilliant how you implemented this work here totally unplugged and thus paid tribute to one of the best rock bands of all time in an absolutely impressive way! Greetings from Germany!

    That was incredible! I can only imagine the time that went into reenacting that unheralded masterpiece from Jethro Tull. I quite liked it your way-completely acoustic. I always loved the acoustic aspects of the Tull original - but found the electric chords to be a little harsh; like they got in the way of an amazing song, instead of adding to it. So I welcomed your completely acoustic, solo version. Very well done, and very much appreciated.

    I was actually listening to Minstrell (my favourite album) and strumming along, and when it came to this song I went on youtube to see if anyone had made any covers lately... obviously, you came up.
    I've been trying for years to do a cover of this whole piece, but it never comes out quite right. Well, quite like this, tbh... You've nailed it perfectly, Ian would love it I'm sure =)

My favorite albums are Minstrel In the Gallery, A, Songs From The Wood, and of course Heavy Horses. Nightcap is really good too. I mean their all good, lol.

  • @MatthewKocel

    Bravo Stewart! Just when I think I've learned all the Tull songs I need for my repertoire...You just slayed that notion. I put together a medley about 12 years ago: "Skating Away", Thick as a Brick" and "Aqualung" and was quite pleased with myself. Recently I learned "Mother Goose" and just now got "Salamander" almost ready to share. I mention this because I understand the dedication and love for the music that is required to learn and do justice to this fine music.
    Seriously. Hats off to you!
    I haven't even started filming and uploading my own renditions of these yet, as I've been focused on my own music. But you have inspired me to start putting these out on the Tube. Thank you for that.
    I first saw Jethro Tull live in 1976 or '77 and it absolutely changed my perception of music - and my life.

    This is absolutely amazing. I assume this is a very difficult song to perform, but you did it wonderfully. You seem to have a great amount of knowledge of odd and rare information on Tull . I was thinking maybe you could explain why they never performed this live, at least I don't think they ever did. I've seen them 44 times in concert, and I don't recall them ever playing this live. I think it would have been awesome if they had. If you have any information on that, I'd love to hear it thanks for all your covers of these great songs. No one does them better than you.

    • @DailySporran
      @DailySporran  2 года назад +4

      Thank you William. I know that around 2010 or so, the band considered doing it live, and even started to practice it. I think Ian’s voice problems meant it soon became clear it wasn’t doable. More generally, after 1973, the band moved away from very very long pieces of music live.

    Wow you are magnificent bro, from humorous intro to the hilarious ending and all aspects( folkloric, abstract time shifts, symphonic overlays, biographal bridge or shall I say bridges) in between.
    What a insanely spot on acoustic version of a 10 instrument song ,just wonderful friend,I am from Arizona ,Tucson to be specific ,and probably a small tiny percentage of Tull fans who actually listen to obscure Jethro songs with intense normally,in other words ,every year this magical music ( in my opinion ) gets more and more , unfortunately, lost in time ,but you made this Tucsonean very happy indeed!
    Thank you for taking the time and effort to perform ,and learn these gems ,I find that people who really hold these rarities sacred are not out of touch with modern music, but more of a special ,special breed of listeners ,whom are chosen to enjoy vintage Tull ,otherwise everyone would ,at that like many ,don't get me wrong, awesome classic rock songs, make them what one might call " sellout " or commercialized!
    Plus it's to intricate and requires a high IQ to get into such wickedly fantastic masterpieces !!

    This is just epic! I think I like this acoustic version better than the electrified one. Although I do appreciate the energy Martin B. lends to the proceedings on record, I can listen to the beautiful changes more clearly here. Beautifully played, magnificent mastery of a great Ian Anderson composition. My appreciation of "Baker Street Muse" is now increased several-fold as I listen deep into this one.
