This is something I wish to know as well! I have been documenting building my tech startup since day one so others can see what it has been like starting the early days, but Karin is really someone I would have loved to see in her early days. Image all the work she has put into House of Bohn to get where she is now!
Alfredo Sequeida absolutely! It would be nice to hear her touch upon this. I remember her mentioning she got her first few jobs theough referral where back then the key was to “keep those clients” by providing excellent overall service “both technical and customer focused”...would love to hear expand furthermore on those first few opportunities though!!

How do you approach clients with the proposal to film a meeting for a youtube video? Do you feel they are usually willing to share their plans?
This is a really good question. I have been documenting building my tech startup on my channel from day one and I have been wondering myself how they would react of me asking to film our interactions. It would make good content, but at the same time, I do not want to impede on their privacy.
How do you not look like a mess, I'm in the same field, and I know how exhausting it is. Lots of love from the Philippines!

totally agree with wanting to have people better than you. its the true measure of growth in terms of pushing your ego aside....which you have to do. you can't grow your company if you're not growing the people in your company.

I want to say that as you spoke I can see in my our job( it’s not design) where you’d be remiss not to allow your staff to apply their knowledge. I mean you’d be running around wearing too many hats and you would quickly burn out, which would stunt your growth. And second, I’d really like to commend you on recognizing that you do need talented experienced people around you and not be threatened by their talents , and of-course be willing to relinquish the need to control every aspect of your environment at all times 👏... I am a 22-year-old entrepreneur and college student from Los Angeles and have been documenting building my tech startup from day one on my channel. 11 months and a whole lot of work later I have been able to get my startup that I started in my room to 80K in revenue. German 🔴🔴 means Quality - the best ! The creator of Homeopathy, Science and engineering and design . Chinese 🔴🔴 are synonymous to making 24 hrs look like 8 hours . And they will continue day after day without compromising . Even if they are a 5th generation Chinese these qualities stay with them. We salute them ! Your last name gave away that you had a German parent . But we were surprised that you had a Chinese mom .
There is a blogger - cuckoo for design who studied art in Germany , does her own DiY construction and does art . Simplicity and elegance are her last names . We love her Blogs ( yes the old fashioned blogger :)

Hi Karin from Paris, I am also interior designer but not with the same structure because I am afraid to hire employees which occurs so much risks in term of finances. Karin, what do you mean telling operation manager? what is his role? Also even it is private but is it possible to reveal what are charges to build a physical company? (rent an office? pay employees? and what is a marge for one project intern of percentage?). Thank you for your energy to share your daily business...

Hi Karin :) I don’t know if you will be able to answer my question, because as you just said - You are trying to hire people that are very good at their work and I completely understand that - you want your company to grow.
I am 3rd year interior design student and next year I will be looking for a job in a field, I feel like I need to do more with my portfolio, as work from University is not enough, I am very ambitious and I want to be fully happy with my portfolio before I will show it on the interviews. Are you able to tell me what employers like to see in the portfolios?
I love your philosophy. You really think things through. I feel that's something very few people do to the degree that you do. I believe that because you are so aware of every facet, you'll always be successful. You do hard things with a smile on your face. Do you see how strong you are? I hope you see it. I hope those closest to you are proud of you and recognise all your good traits. Most of all I hope they deserve the space they hold in your life. You really know your stuff. Seeing this video was really helpful to me in terms of taking stock and thinking about growth in a broader way. I was promised an internship with an interior designer but it has been about 6 months and apparently their schedule just hasn't allowed for it. I wonder if I should just move on or if 6+ months is a common length of time to wait?

That's true, thank you for the advice! I just wasn't sure if that was a common length of time to wait to get in somewhere. I didn't want to give up after waiting 6 months if it was common for people to wait that long or longer. 😬
Follow with an email then a phone call if you don't hear back. That said, it does not hurt to look while you're waiting.

This so awesome. I hope I can find someone like you to show me the ropes. Here in the US I’m working on my Bachelors in Interior Design and a Masters in Architecture and no one wants to take me on for experience. It’s discouraging but you give me hope.
