Imagine how more marginally profitable they could be if they prioritized hiring talent behind the cameras to tell elseworlds / standalone stories, without having to build a cinematic universe, and not rely heavily on CGI? Makes you wonder what their strategy moving forward is.
I still say to this day, that Möbius, Madam Webb and Kraven should have been made with horror movie budget, go for the horror route since there are villains vibe in them, and you let young hungry horror movie directors to take a crack at it, even if it flops that people won't use it against the overall image of your whole universe, but if it pops you just struck gold.
Sony should double down and make the ultimate team-up movie where Madame Web has a vision about Spiderman trying to hunt down Morb, Kraven and Venom. So Madame Web hijacks a random ambulance and drops these guys in the middle of the woods for them to be safe and bond. Kraven comes across a Rhino in the middle of the woods, so he naturally tames him and Morb, Kraven and Venom ride it to the nearest diner where Morb eats "blue"berry pancakes while Venom and and Kraven dance on a table. Turns out it was a false vision and Spidey never shows up. Send me the royalty checks soon, Sony. Edit: Mrs Cheng is also in the diner for that dance sequence with Venom and Morb. A giant C falls onto Ben from a Coca-Cola sign.
What Sony should have done was use the superhero and antihero supporting characters from the Spider-Man comics to make spinoff films about NOT the supervillains. They could have made films featuring Prowler, Puma, Silver Sable and the Wild Pack, Black Cat, Rocket Racer, Hybrid, Cardiac, Solo, and the Slingers. This isn't rocket science.
Their total profits aren't impressive AT ALL. John is slipping. They couldn't even clear a billion dollars in profit over like 7 years and like 8 movies. It's absolutely pathetic.
The idea of making a cinematic universe about Spider-Man vilains is flawed because while Spider-Man has one of the most iconic rogues gallery out there, there’s only a few of them that could carry their own film. Venom makes sense because he’s very likely considered the most popular Spider-Man vilain out there but once you’ve done Venom, who else do you have left? Green Goblin and Doctor Octopus are very certainly the only ones that match Venom in popularity but you can’t make a cinematic universe with just those characters.
I feel like bringing back Andrew Garfield and making him the new spider man that connects to the spider verse villains could work. He is the glue they need especially if it takes place after Gwen. He stops pulling his punches on some villains who can have their own film. Make them simpathetic so we can see a complicated story about the six Spider-Man villains
Choose 1 character that you build around, then make 1 movie at a time. I'm not too sure if they have the ability to use a Spider type hero as a central character. I.e. Spidergwen or Ben Reilly etc. But having 1 solid character to start from would be wise. I would then hire someone who has DONE THIS BEFORE. A writer and a director who maybe worked in MCU phase 1 or at Fox. A practiced hand. I would also then ask Kevin Feige to read what you had before entering production. Ask for notes like he was giving on the Amazing Spiderman franchise
if you are talking about why Sony will never sell the Spiderman rights i get why you include the Spiderverse films, but clearly there is divide in most regards between SPUMC and the spiderverse movies. The audience doesnt associate these movies together, the profits and reception to spiderverse doesnt carry over to SPUMC, and there are different creative teams are behind these movies. If you take spiderverse out of the equation the profits are basically just from the venom franchise because Morbius, Madam Web, and Kraven are failures in pretty much every way
thank you! i agree there! like they could call Venom the viscous monster on the loose and now they the "sinister six" is gathered together by a unknown organization to hunt down this beast.
@ they should be hired by Kingpin, but I don’t know if the rights would of allowed it. If not him they should have had it been Norman Osborn and maybe he turns into the Green Goblin in that film or in the 3rd film (because you’d assume they were aiming for a trilogy if it was successful)
There is so much better stuff to do than these villain movies. Make a movie about an old Peter Parker that was active during the 60's and now Mayday is Spiderwoman. Make a movie about Miguel O'hara. Make a movie about Spider-Gwen. About Gerry Drew. Make a puppet movie with Spider Pig. And they don't need to culminate in a big spider-man event thing. If they pop up In each others films sometimes, maybe it's enough. Or not even that. But most of all: have good scripts.
The lazy route is to continue with Knull and Venom-related stuff until people lose interest. The Kraven box office made it very clear that people won’t show up for these films anymore. Even if the next non-Venom film is good and has multi-movie continuity, I think it won’t do well. The box office is recovering and the superhero genre is going to get competitive soon.
If Sony offered to sell the Spider-Man rights back to Marvel, Disney would absolutely pay whatever it cost. They want all their IPs back under Marvel. Feige has openly said this for years.
I 100% wholeheartedly agree with Kris. If I was the head of Sony and had to fix the Spider-Verse movies (at least the villain spin-off movies after Venom and Venom: Let There Be Carnage), we're gonna actually try and put in some damn effort. I know it's hard to make a good movie, but you can't look me in the eye and tell me that Sony put any effort into these movies. They were Fant4stic levels of horrible and lazy. There was some fun to be had with Venom and Venom: Let There Be Carnage, but The Last Dance was terrible, and the rest of these Spider-Man spin-off movies were even worse. These movies (especially Morbius, Madam Web, and Kraven) are the epitome of "Let's throw something together (even if it's hot garbage) and not even try because we just need to put out a movie to keep the rights to this character."
Why do you count the animations Spiderman movies. Sony had to get permission from Marvel to make those movies. They have nothing to do with Spider Verse or nothing to do with Sony keeping the rights to Spiderman
Marvel has established that this timeline can exist separately from the MCU. Sony needs to capitalize on that. They can make a Cindy Moon franchise or Spider-gwen or Penny Parker. There is so much opportunity
The only way to "fix" the Spider-Verse is just to make much much better sequels that add depth to their established character movies so that way you don't have to throw the whole character away.
If i was the head of Sony, I would get hire an all star version of Feige, then i would develop a 10 year plan/vision and ensure we stay true to source material. I would also lock down the reason as to why we want to make the movies that we have chosen in our ten year plan. It should never be about the money. The money will come if you make a good product. Pick a reason for example..Who is our audience? Kids then do pg movies…Young adults or older adults that read that comic within that generation, then make mature or rated R movies. A lot of comic book characters belong in an R rated world. At least mature 17 which means younger people can go with an adult. For example…100% venom/morbius are R Rated characters and belong in an R rated movie. Hands down. So, who does the movie appease to? What is the plan and the continuity and then go out and make that damn kick ass movie.
If Sony insists on making Spiderman movies without Spiderman maybe use reporter Ben Urich to guide audiences by telling stories from Urich's perspective by having him investigate these lesser characters.
If I was the head of sony I would reboot it, I would make my own version of spider-man as a tv show with 5 seasons 13 episodes each season, season 1 being spidey becoming spider-man and all that also having a villian of the week format which ends up leading into the next season with sinister six Then having the venom arc for season 3 and setting up the life foundation for a venom spin off show Season 4 being about green goblin and a kingpin sub plot Season 5 being about harry osborn becoming the green goblin and set up miles morales for his own spin off After that I make a tv show about venom with 4 seasons Season 1 being about carnage and having spiderman in it too being him and spidey team up Season 2 being about the life foundation and the symbiotes envolved but setting up knull for season 3 and 4 (two seasons for knull because he is kind of a big deal) Then I would do a fun sinister six movie where the villians are coming back to defeat spiderman but its in the prespective of them and not spidey Then I would do a miles morales tv show with 5 seasons Season 1 being his origin story having peter as a mentor like in the insomniac games, main villian being the prowler Season 2 being about mr negetive and having him kill mileses dad Season 3 being about clone saga mainly acting as a ben riley origin story And having peter have a kid with Mj potentially making a tv show about those 2 (mayday parker) but peter ending up dying at the end of the season Season 4 be about venom coming back and ending up with other hosts like Scorpion or that gangster guy in the comics lee something but ending up with flash tompson (which can have his own tv show) Introducing cindy moon in this season and having her get bitten at the end of the season Season 5 would be about miles teaching cindy how to be spider person like pete mentored him And at the end of the season miles retires and cindy becomes the main spidey of new york Now we can have a ben riley show, we can have a cindy moon show, we can have a agent venom show, we can have a mayday parker show Heck we can even have a spidey 2099 show And maybe that spidey noir show being a part of this multiverse which we can use the 2099 show to have a spiderverse event and pete coming back from a random timeline and miles coming out of retirement You see how much content this universe can offer????? They can milk this cow for decades but they dont and they are stupid
Make an actual spider verse. Miguel O'Hara film inspired by GATTACA. Miles Morales film inspired by the ultimate Miles Morales run. Penny parker. Just make those movies. You don't need Peter Parker Spiderman to make those movies
I believe, unless they manage to use spiderman somehow full time in future projects, they should quit on this universe that didn't make any sence from the get go. They focused efforts in making fun movies instead of making good movies that can also be fun. "Villian" after "villian" with no glimpse or sign of a established spiderman somewhere, so where's the fun in that for the fans?? And don't need to create a cinematic universe, I know that many of us will eventually want that, it doesn't mean we can't love standalone stories, self-contained movies that bring us some of the old Sony glory
Considering The Venom movies and Spider-verse movies are the only films making money, I imagine the Spider-verse movies keep happening and Sony will try to do a Venom 4
Slash the budget until you have a movie that gets good feedback. Make genre films that happen to have comicbook characters in them. A Mordbis horror film could actually be good. A Kraven film that is a spy thriller hunting down poachers seems like a good idea. The characters do not need to be 100% match with the comicbooks.
I mean what is a new Kevin Feige supposed to produce for them? A Hypno Hustler movie? A Jackpot movie? A Venom reboot? A spider verse without Spidey is sterile. Especially if Sony's cynical heads are in charge. Whatever, a movie ticket costs way too much to choose to go see one of their movies
The draw has always been spiderman. So they have to put him in those movies to at least get the attention of general audiences. However it is risku since they might ruin their character, but as long as the movies are watchable and set up a decent storyline. They will be fine
If Sony wishes to continue with the Spiderverse they should make movies with one main hero/anti hero and one main villain as opposed to what they did with KRAVEN where they tried to cram in as many characters as possible without really properly developing them and just wasting their potential. The Foreigner could have been a major league villain in a Silver Sable movie but in Kraven he was reduced to just another henchman that had a superpower.
Keep making the spider verse movies with miles morales, stop making making movies about spiderman villains and put them in the MCU movies with Tom Holland. That way Marvel does all of the heavy lifting and Sony makes most of the profit for just letting Marvel use their IP.
Cast Andrew Garfield or pivot and cast a young and upcoming actor to be miles and then double down on the spider verse with multiple cameos from the Spider-Man while building the villain verse then do a sinister six movie and go from there
there is really no point in doing that. the games are already cinematic (i would argue that they are TOO cinematic) making a live action version seem very redundant
Yes fans all have different options but when there is something that 90% of them agree on then listen to that. Sonic recent example. With spiderman, these villain or side characters are very unknown, have them be side minor characters in mainline Spiderman or venom, see what audiences like or dislike about that character and decide from there which ones you will dive deeper on and pivot where it's needed in their portrayal.
Look I've said it before, the Spiderverse has to get Zack Snyder. Also, at this point, when in doubt, go Full Longlegs, just Go Full Nic Cage in thought. Robert Meyer Burnett is literally a living Legend 🌟
Make Spider-Man 4 and Amazing Spiderman 3 that’s your money makers. Do a 2099 spiderman and connect it to Noir, Tobey and Andrew Garfield and tie it in With Madam Web
They should just make a new agreements with marvel that helps they retain the rights to spider-man because therr just not gonna do a great job outside spider verse
The sad reality is that we will continue to get mediocre project after mediocre project from those pricks at Sony while they enjoy the shared success of MCU Spidey, along with the success of the only smart people in their group (animation) making the Into the Spider-verse trilogy/spinoffs. After the disappointment from Venom’s ending, I decided to not pay attention to any future projects they have apart from MCU Spidey and Animation Spidey, and I’m so much happier for it. 😂
Cmon all know Madam web was a Didn't Earn It movie catering to the 5% resulting in making 5% at the box office. Same reason Acolyte was made hired poor writer and director to check a box instead of proven writers and directors
Hire reputable talent for the script and directing. Once you have a few good to great movies under your belt then you could take a few chance with up and coming directors.
I was so looking forward to Morbius when it came out. Morbius could have been such a kick ass movie. So much potential. Just like let there be carnage…that could have been epic but…..not
The bare minimum Sony is going to sell live action right of spider man to Disney is1.5 billion but with everything that is going on it wouldn’t be worth it for Disney.
They would never sell it for 1.5 billions. 10 billions probably. The question is, would disney be willing to pay that amount of money to get those rights back.
If they’re going to continue making sans Spider-Man universe movies, they need to change the people in charge, they need a Gunn\Feige type to run the franchise….
Put Phil Lord and Chris Miller in charge of the spider verse give them carte Blanche with the direction that prime Peter Parker Spider-Man be involved in most projects.
Make some permentant sharing arrangements with Disney. Not just because its right for the fans, but Sony got a billion dollars with their help. If not that, animated universe only. Either of those are fine.
This SPUMC universe is overall pretty sucky but I’m not gonna lie, I have some weird fascination with this universe where I kinda want them to keep going just so I can see what kind of other shitty movies they can fart out, this universe is like terrible car wreck that I can’t look away from, I mean Madame Webb was like 1 of the greatest guilty pleasure movies I’ve seen in years, and so I’m actually glad it’s still going just so I can see what other crap they can shovel out, call it morbid curiosity if you will but I wanna see it
including the Tom Holland movies and animated Spiderverse movies which include Peter Parker as well as many other versions of spider man in this discussion is just being disingenuous
Hire accomplished writers and directors (like Lord and Miller are), give them creative control over the projects, and don’t micromanage or interfere. This is incredibly simple.
I disagree with campea . The studios are in the problem there in now because they don't listen to the fans . Fans have said we don't want these villain movies but they make them anyway. And they keep flopping . Again listen to the fans and they will be fine . Deadpool ad wolverine was made for the fans by fans (Ryan Shawn Hugh ) and it made a billion dollars . So no I disagree with campea give us tasm 3 and Rami 4 and then they will really make money hand over fist . IDC .ITS FACTUAL
Sony & Disney should straight-up trade Spider-Man IP for the Star Wars IP. Disney gets all the rights to live-action Spider-Man, and Sony keeps all animated rights. Disney keeps SW merch, theme parks, etc loses all ties to movies & TV
nothing. focus on beyond the spiderverse and spider-man 4 with tom holland. hope that spiderman noir does well. after that, maybe try again? Do what you have to do to keep the rights.
Imagine how more marginally profitable they could be if they prioritized hiring talent behind the cameras to tell elseworlds / standalone stories, without having to build a cinematic universe, and not rely heavily on CGI? Makes you wonder what their strategy moving forward is.
They Need To Stop making Villians Movies and Do Spider-Man 2099 Live Action
I can get behind 2099 but he would have to be in the present and not the future.for me.
@@janicearroyo-wright8529whats the point of calling it 2099 than?
@@maxpops8427 He could be from the future. I'm just spit balling ideas here.

Avi Arad is spidermans biggest villain
Don't forget Amy Pascal

They should of done a Venom film followed by a Sinister Six film where they’re tasked to hunt down Venom and spin the universe off from there
thank you! i agree there! like they could call Venom the viscous monster on the loose and now they the "sinister six" is gathered together by a unknown organization to hunt down this beast.

Then having the venom arc for season 3 and setting up the life foundation for a venom spin off show
Season 4 being about green goblin and a kingpin sub plot
Season 5 being about harry osborn becoming the green goblin and set up miles morales for his own spin off
After that I make a tv show about venom with 4 seasons
Season 1 being about carnage and having spiderman in it too being him and spidey team up
Season 2 being about the life foundation and the symbiotes envolved but setting up knull for season 3 and 4 (two seasons for knull because he is kind of a big deal)
Then I would do a fun sinister six movie where the villians are coming back to defeat spiderman but its in the prespective of them and not spidey
Then I would do a miles morales tv show with 5 seasons
Season 1 being his origin story having peter as a mentor like in the insomniac games, main villian being the prowler
Season 2 being about mr negetive and having him kill mileses dad
Season 3 being about clone saga mainly acting as a ben riley origin story
And having peter have a kid with Mj potentially making a tv show about those 2 (mayday parker) but peter ending up dying at the end of the season
Season 4 be about venom coming back and ending up with other hosts like Scorpion or that gangster guy in the comics lee something but ending up with flash tompson (which can have his own tv show)
Introducing cindy moon in this season and having her get bitten at the end of the season
Season 5 would be about miles teaching cindy how to be spider person like pete mentored him
And at the end of the season miles retires and cindy becomes the main spidey of new york
Now we can have a ben riley show, we can have a cindy moon show, we can have a agent venom show, we can have a mayday parker show
Heck we can even have a spidey 2099 show
And maybe that spidey noir show being a part of this multiverse which we can use the 2099 show to have a spiderverse event and pete coming back from a random timeline and miles coming out of retirement

@ I haven’t attempted Madame Web or Kraven
I found Morbius to be absolutely boring. It didn’t make me angry like Madame Web did but it was the bottom of the barrel.
@juanluismendoza8655 not saying it a masterpiece but morbius might be my favorite Spiderman character so I'm biased
@ there are many levels between shit movie and masterpiece, sometimes it just has to be entertaining and it’s also an origin story
If they never made their Spider Villain franchise movies. We seriously could have gotten 3 more Into the Spider Verse movies
what they need to do is return the spider man rights back to Marvel
Did you watch the video? That's never going to happen.
13:25min but they have Friends whom they “Talk” to about the Superhero Genre to distinguish the difference.
Sony should sell back live action and keep the option for animated films
It’s a complicated story, but they don’t need to make a Peter Parker Spider-Man make a Ben Riley Spider-Man movie and skip the clone saga
You're getting Ben Reilly in Spider-Man Noir
Cmon all know Madam web was a Didn't Earn It movie catering to the 5% resulting in making 5% at the box office. Same reason Acolyte was made hired poor writer and director to check a box instead of proven writers and directors
Hire reputable talent for the script and directing. Once you have a few good to great movies under your belt then you could take a few chance with up and coming directors.
Just stay away from live action movies. Let Disney handle those while you keep your cut and stick to animated films. The villain movies need to stop.
I was so looking forward to Morbius when it came out. Morbius could have been such a kick ass movie. So much potential. Just like let there be carnage…that could have been epic but…..not
Does campea knows sony has playstation and GTA 6 is coming out.
I don't know why John keeps bringing this up like it's a plus. Yes they make money. They also set a huge pile of money on fire on a regular basis.
Oh Kris …gaslighting is the coin of the realm
If they’re going to continue making sans Spider-Man universe movies, they need to change the people in charge, they need a Gunn\Feige type to run the franchise….
Put Phil Lord and Chris Miller in charge of the spider verse give them carte Blanche with the direction that prime Peter Parker Spider-Man be involved in most projects.
Burnett is exactly right. Adapt the current ultimate Spiderman comic series.
Place A52 in charge of the Spider-verse.
Death is not an option.... unless its the Sony live action spiderverse.
Isn't only 3 fail films? Morbius, mandame web n kraven that were fails, although the 3 venoms movies weren't good I thought they were profitable?
Yup venom made a ton of money and Morbius broke even.
That doesn't include there animated spiderman films as well
@DevDinish no I meant speaking of thier spin offs live action not the Spiderman films themselves.
Make some permentant sharing arrangements with Disney. Not just because its right for the fans, but Sony got a billion dollars with their help. If not that, animated universe only. Either of those are fine.
You know the raimi trilogy was insanely successful ?
@ThanosDidTheRightThing I do. They are also more successful under partnership with Disney, which also brought back these legacy characters, too.
john the number 1 cheerleader for the spumc😂. wild
No matter how much money they make their films will continue to be shit
Put all those live action characters as cameos in the last spiderverse movie. Would be a fun payoff. Why not???
They would’ve made a profit regardless
Anthony Mackie is absolutely correct in what he said about Captain America. ❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥
That's the problem it wasn't no direction
Bring back Andrew Garfield. If Sony insists on keeping their villian movies, they need a spiderman to fight against.
They can't have two Spidermen going at the same time
Hire accomplished writers and directors (like Lord and Miller are), give them creative control over the projects, and don’t micromanage or interfere.
Is Tom Rothman still Sony's President? Doesn't surprise me they failed to do comic book movie.
No Way Home Part 2 with Holland/Garfield/Maguire battling the Sonyverse villains until they’re all deceased. The end.
Sony should sell Spiderman to DC or stop making live action
I really enjoyed Kraven! It may not have been a good movie, but I had fun at the theater!
Here s an idea…FINISH BEYOND THE SPIDERVERSE!
Sony does have a Spider-Man Czar:
Avi Arad
Sony & Disney should straight-up trade Spider-Man IP for the Star Wars IP.
Disney gets all the rights to live-action Spider-Man, and Sony keeps all animated rights.
Disney keeps SW merch, theme parks, etc loses all ties to movies & TV
I m just praying that venom might join avenger doomsday if that's not happening then I'm done watching marvel movies.
horrible idea
Sit in the corner and think about what they've done.
I think Sony best idea is to cancel kraven & madam web but just keep morbius in the spider verse
Also sony are failing with crunchy roll
Go back to Garfield's universe introduce Miles and have Garfield be Miles mentor.
nothing. focus on beyond the spiderverse and spider-man 4 with tom holland. hope that spiderman noir does well. after that, maybe try again? Do what you have to do to keep the rights.
They need to stop this nonsensical project.
