THIS VIDEO IS FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY!
2:31 they're not x8! Only x4!
X8 OCULINK exists, but it is twice as wide!
Agreed And you need x8 slot or 2 x4 m. 2 slots on a motherboard that support pcie splitting convert to oculink 8i unless it has a
8i port
So video is misleading, right?
@@SharedAccount-yz9zb The numbers are correct, though it misses the latency caused by TB going through the CPU whereas oculink is a direct motherboard link.
TB/USB4 benchmarks? Would be great to compare to OcuLink performance... the GPD G1 doesn't show much difference between the two at any wattage. I'd imagine it's the same here but would be great to see for sure. I've been using USB4 exclusively because of this, and because hotplugging is so much more convenient.
can you make one gameplay video with both egpu and portable m.2 nvme ssd with enclosure.
Which IGPU be Great for handheld devices?
where can i buy this in South Africa
ETA Prime! STOP Testing the same weak games man. Test the latest and more demanding games. We are sick of seeing GTA 5 and Forza!
I positively think he should stop testing CPU limited games for GPU benchmarks and that such games being his favorites is not a good argument
@DevinsWorld112 you improve by listening to feedback. Nothing against ETA prime, just some constructive criticism to hopefully improve his videos. I Don't see anything wrong with that.
Not only that but he's showing games that MOST people want to play. Spiderman, Cyberpunk etc. I would argue that most of his fans aren't playing the new call of duty games lol. These games are the staple for most people using handheld or mini pcs.
@DevinsWorld112it is also okay to criticize people when it's warranted, the world's not all pillows and sunshine.
Facts!
I really, really hope that the Steam Deck 2 has eGPU support. I know there’s other handhelds that do this but I really like the Steam Deck.
As FSR gets better I don't think we will really need EGPU's as much in the future.
@@moonlambo5229 Theres only so much framegen and upscaling can do. Its already being used to make high end games playable at 800p on the Steam Deck. If you have a 4K TV there's no way that's looking good. I can see a use case for an eGPU connected to a dock for better resolutions.
This actually looks even more interesting for productivity, rather than just gaming. It’s compact enough for average bags and won‘t bloat your laptops main body or tank it’s battery, if you don’t need the GPU. Also the SSD is a big plus
Also the sgwzone zone egpu is crowd funding
Interesting price too...$800
I just received mine and it's very compact and not that heavy.
These things are really cool and I'd love to have one but they're SO EXPENSIVE! Especially after having purchased a $800-$1000 handheld. I hope they become more affordable eventually
Idk how much more affordable you can expect for a full, convertible gaming desktop.
@@bluddywulf6796 I mean the mobile GPU itself isn't that expensive. Since these are niche it is like 400% Markup.
For 1600$ you have a powerful portable machine. You can’t buy the same laptop for these money. So its cheap.
This sounds like a dream even for content creators on the go with the SSD port
Can you make a performance comparison between oculink and usb4? I'm thinking of getting this for the legion go
I was think as you because I already have it, but Lenovo Legion Go doesn’t have a oculink port 😢
I have been using Rog Xg Mobile 3080 for nearly three years. I truly believe that portable eGpu will be the future of mobile computing. It gives the users options to bring laptops alone or laptop with eGpu for more performance. Hope there will be more big brands embraced this concept.
I agree, I really hope they become less expensive in the future
Ya, gaming laptops can't run on battery with the GPU running at any meaningful level. My Razer 17 gets 30 min of battery life (2080 super) at half the plugged in perofrmance. With iGPUs being so good, laptops should ditch the extra bulk, weight, and complications of a dGPU in the laptop chassis and should use things like this as a fatty power brick instead to get high gaming performance.
@@MrHamncheez wow, combining the power brick + egpu would be absolutely genius, if they could keep thermals in check. Maybe some dope copper passive cooling heatsink setup inside. Idk, but I love the idea
@@r00fus_d00fus its actually easier to cool the Asus XG Mobile or this OneXGPU than cooling a laptop because it can be thicker, and the intake vent isn't on the bottom (like a laptop)
@@MrHamncheez I meant if we combined this type of setup into the powerbrick, removing the need for the dGPU in the laptop chassis, having it built into the powerbrick design
I wonder if there claim of working 'plug and play even with steam deck' is true 😄
Seems like ETA Prime forgot to cut this audio part right here😂, 11:48
😂😅
Yes 😂😂
Love the content man . I would love to see the oculink vs USB 4 performance differences. I bought the minisforum um760pro and it doesn't have oculink only USB 4. The RDNA 3 760M oc to 3.1 ghz no problem but the 8 Cu compared to its bigger brother with 12 is a little slow. Also test those out against eachother to ETA .
Cant wait till mine comes in.. would love to see a review paired with the legion go.
I know I've been wanting a legion go and then I seen this device the Onex
Does it supporr 4k 120?
And whats the best resolution it supports?
LMAO stutter and repeating in the end 12:03. Like always~
It's so cute!
...and so?
the ETA way
editor's slip
Same dumb question here:
Can this be Daisy Chained to another dock ?
Like this:
Monitors --> EGPU --> TB4 Dock --> Notebook
I know this is ridiculous but I just want to know😅
Maybe you could test this?.
Thank you 😊
This OneXPlayer 3 in 1 is looking better and better every time I see it.
Can you test the UM780XTX + ONEXGPU combo with SteamOS ??
Why the heck don’t these things come with another passthru USB4 connection…? No additional USB-C ports either, nor SD card slot.
It would be interesting to conect this gpu to steam deck aswell 😅
Yup hopefully the Dec 2 comes with egpu support
Technically can through the m.2 slot.
Jesus 750USD for a 7600m? Hell no
I'm very interested to see the power brick required for the eGPU. That is critical to determine how useful it will be as a compact GPU for travel.
It weighs about 30 kgs size of a watermelon.... U can travel with it but you might need a trolley
I'm very interested to see my girlfriend this weekend 🥰
How loud is the ONEXGPU under load? Is it quieter than the GPDG1? I don't think noise was covered in the video?
please, add some cybersport disciplines to the tests.. CS2, PUBG , APEX LEGENDS.
eGPU is slick until you see the price.
You have a ton of mistakes at the end of the video.
Side-by-side comparison with GPD's G1?
With the 100W PD feature, this blows GPD G1 out of the water and renders it obsolete.
@@cutesammie That's my assumption too, but it would be nice if it was verified.
Very interesting. Interested in using this for content creation on the road
12:03 you missed cutting a couple outtakes. Might want to head to the RUclips editor and chop a few seconds out!
happens every video
i do wish for steam deck 2 have Oculink
So the onX handheld is a full fat win11 laptop? Does it have a sim card slot?
Could you show the ingame setting before you benchmark, because I want to verify
the power of ( HEEEEEEEEY ) at first is dopealways got me lol :DD
I don't understand the jargon in this video at all. I'm totally lost.
Too bad it wasn't cheaper and had more variety of gpus....would be good too if there was more low profile amd 7000s gpus... 7600XT 16 GB would be better for this....
Will 80 Gbps USB4 be ready next year?
This is amazing, I don't know if this eGPU thing works with Linux. It will be great to have a lightweight laptop for school and work, and when you come back home to play AAA games you only have to plug one or two cables.
Great video and explanation!!!!....I just bought the OneXGPU today and your video really helps on how it all fits.
Greetings from Australia
Not worthy to use with a MiniPC.
Performance are worse than a MiniPc with a dedicated GPU like the MinisForum HX99G that can play in 1440, without the annoyance of all those cables and in a more compact all-in-one package. Cheaper too.
I was going to buy a laptop, but I think I want this instead, paired with the one x player tablet/pc. 😍 Thanks for the review. 👍
Still waiting for some company to create an eGPU dock that has OcuLink and USB4 with a normal 16x PCIe slot so that we can just slot in any GPU that we have.
What is the cheapest thunderbolt laptop that we should test it on?
Very good video thanks, and very interesting device! I'm curious to see the performance of this connected to a some more modern handheld pc running SteamOs with AMD Ryzen 7 7840u.
thunerbolt 5 could make oculink obselete too right?
BTW oneXGpu will require you to PULL OUT( officially suggested by oneX) 2 magnets from the back side to prevent coil wine of the fan. So that a " design" problem as well.
Cool device, but that price is a hard pill to swallow.
Gosh..such a High Price..Thev Minisforum HX100G is a far better bargain than this with the RX6650 GPU including the Ryzen CPU!!
Can this work WITHOUT an external display? I mean, I would connect this to my laptop, but I'd expect eGPU to output the image to my laptop's display?
Asus vice president announced that ROG ally 2 will be released later this year
hopefully its oled
Stable 60fps 1080p is all i ask for.
Source link ? Cuz if so then I’m for sure Waiting
@@blackpanthertchallalem8522 with OLED IT means no VRR
🤥
Has anyone tried using it for VR with the UM780 XTX? I've noticed that by itself the UM780 XTX can do some low end VR, depending on which PCVR game is being played.
Android & eGPU?
- first option-
1. battery inside?
2. bigger size with battery inside without power connection
3. connect to laptop(high performance laptop} also using only battery
Second option
with battery
and
fps comparison plz.
Sold out currently and you could build a better complete gaming rig from scratch for the current asking price of this ONEXGPU. 🤷♂️
Looks incredible! It’s a shame we can’t use this with the ROG Ally.
Wow, this is really promising device. Now if you have a laptop that is 2nd generations old or even third gen old, you dont have to buy new laptop to run game. Just buy this type of egpu. Now the price is high which is really understandable but 3 or 4 yrs from now if many companies are in this kind of device, the price might be more compelling to gamers
A powerful beast GPU in a Xiaomi powerbank like case ? Man this is out of the world❤
GPD G1 eGPU vs ONEXGPU comparison would be really nice
pcie gen4 x8 thats is 32gbps not 64! that must be pcie gen5 x8
from when oculink use 8 lines pcie? spec oculink is 4 lines on pcie gen 4 is 16gbps, gen 5 x4 is 32.
what the hell?!
Thunderbolt and oculink carry 4 lane pcie connections - not 8 lanes. Your videos states that thunderbolt and oculink are “pcie x8”. This is incorrect. They are pcie x4.
I have this one x gpu and the minis forum um780 xtx😊
Could somebody tell me where i could buy a good oculink cable ?
I have tried a phew but no luck
The way you just appear on the left side, then the right… it’s like magic 😮
Timestamp?
In many games it is working bad. Try snowrunner as an example. Try fallout76 . Try The crew.
"You can see that I get a pretty decent boost over 28 watts on that cpu" what I see is you absolutely ripping that Lamborghini likes it's a civic
Hello! It would be interesting to see if it works on RogAlly with the oculink adapter. 😀
That's not oculink but some Asus proprietary plug.
It's got a usb 3.2 port so it will work, just not optimally.
@@ezg8448 Why use an egpu over a USB 3.2 port? Doing that will equate a total waste of money as the performance you'd get will be a subpar to your normal iGPU.
Please review Thinkbook egpu, that provide more bandwidth than thunderbolt 4 connection
Would be nice to see 4k resolution results too
is there something like that but with MORE THAN 8gb of gddr6 vram
Great review bro,the asus rog ally X with this egpu test PLEASE 😊😊
300$ gpu that costs 700$. i would mabe pay 450 for the portability.
that mini HDMI looks like its already bending the port lol
Looks like a pretty cool device and useful if you have a igpu and no dgpu in your device. I've got the Intel Arc a770m, so I won't be needing this for a while, but for future updates, depending on the price, it can be interesting.
hi eta, from where you got that oculink cable? can you attach the link please... thanks
With the onexgpu and onexplayer mini pro the gpu turn on and off and crash My games don't know why
I think they're right, you really should to test some game what demand more from the pc, so i hope you can test minecraft from now on yours videos 😡
Any chance this could work with the Asus ROG Ally? I know Asus has there own gpu but was curious
Remember that the PCIE bandwidth gap is even larger than listed since there is a bunch of dedicated bandwidth for non PCIE use in TB.
if i connect this egpu on legion go will this fix the lag and delay issue when legion go connected to 4k tv?
Can the EGPU be plugged only to the hand-held? I don't want to use external monitors. Does it work like that?
It will work
eGPU dock with desktop GPU is better. I want the freedom to choose what graphics card I want to get.
With the price of this and onexplayer just buy a freaking laptop
I'm really new to this... do the egpu needs a computer monitor and not just a handheld.
I do not understand these companies making these Oculink devices that sit on your desk and only have Mobile GPU's in them. If it is going to sit on your desk then why not have a RTX4090 or similar desktop class GPU for best performance. Spending this kind of money for a simple mobile GPU in a box is insane. Especially since the Devices we are hooking to it already have high end mobile GPu in them.
@@Dragorus360 this is for people that would like mobile and portable eGPU that they can bring while traveling or just enjoy the small form factor. Obviously if you are primarily needing this for a desk set up only then yes there are other options
I think the first problem with this type of EGPU is the price, if I need only one external graphics card for gaming with the same budget I can get an RX 7800 XT with an Oculink connection made by myself. This EGPU offers other functions you could tell me, but do those who want to play really need it?
Exactly, for that price you can buy an 7800 xt + an ssd enclosure and it would be cheaper
This definitely eliminates the jank that comes with home made Oculink connections. Sure, you don't "need" it but it also functions as a dock with extra storage. It can be annoying to have to hook up several wires every time you want to game.
If I hook this up on a pc with an already existing gpu, will they sum up?
why will anyone buy a notebook or desktop in the future. start with handheld and build out over time.
How much noise it make when gaming ?
Nice ! It would also be nice if you make that video on that project you said you have been working on and on how we could build our own external GPU with that RTX 4060 / Pico power supply and Oculink support , thanks .
Have you tried this out in any VR applications?
Hey mate can u show how ea sport fc 24 run on it with gpu? Plz
Looks good but I want one of these that breaks well past 10k on timespy
Cant believe they forgot to have SD card slot for additonal storage and content creators..
At 10:03, what is that strange-looking device on the left?….with the three legs.
Hi,
I think you did a mistake.
OcuLink is x4 4.0
great innovation!
macintosh computer classic ii SCSI bus (raid)
It would be interesting to see how this would do with a Lenovo Legion Go
how does it work with the extra tsorage? Like. Wouldnt be compatibility issues if you install games on it and then remove it? How would you be able to play those games any other way?
it has a ssd 3.0 slot
Egpu and the mini pc nearly 2k kitted out. Shame
