- Seen here is the nation's next mega-hauler.
GFL came into the American market in late 2016 by aquiring Rizzo Environmental Services. They continued Rizzo's expansion path by continuing to purchase smaller, local haulers. GFL announced a merger with Waste Industries back in October, making GFL the largest privately owned hauler in the States.
GFL has built upon Rizzo's commitment to customer service. Seen here is a sample of the units that you may find roaming the streets of Metro Detroit, and the professional drivers that represent this up and coming behemoth.

For those of you who are not familiar with my channel, I am interested in the refuse industry, and I travel to many cities in the Metro Detroit area of Michigan to photograph many different forms of refuse collection equipment.

I can’t wait to start working for this company!!!!!
Nice to see some of you coworkers. I really like how the New Ways look. I also like the G-S sideloads that swing out. Keep up the good work Harrison
Maybe you'll get to see me soon? Thank you!
Great video! We have GFL up here in the City of Toronto, Ontario (pop. 3 million) contracting with the city west of Yonge St.. The City public works waste collection still does everything east of Yonge St.. GFL is a class act with excellent service. Their yard waste collection with their rear loaders is second to none! Really fun to watch! They have a huge fleet of trucks here in Toronto and almost deserve the title of "GFL Municipal Services Waste Collection". They are that good! GFL is a well-managed company here in Ontario. I have been interested in solid waste and watching garbage trucks continuously for 61 years, beginning way back in the 1950's when the rear loaders (City of Cincinnati, Ohio) were either LEACH or Garwood and they had the rear "ram doors" on the packers.
There isn't much I wouldn't do to be able to see an old 50's Leach or "Slam Door" collecting today. It's no surprise that GFL has been able to take off so quick, especially with the level of service that they provide to cities like Toronto.
+garbageproductions1 Great to see your reply! Just like you, I have had a lifelong interest in this subject and have great detailed memories from when I was a little kid. I seriously doubt if any of the 1950's trucks with the rear "ram doors" still exist. I remember in Cincinnati that both LEACH and Garwood had that type of garbage body before they both went to the more-modern "sweep style" rear packer. That was around 1960. The Garwood "ram door" rear loader packer had a distinctively different sound than the more subtle sounding LEACH. Maybe it was the iconic International Harvester COE Model VCO cab-forward chassis that the Cincinnati Public Works had back then (there are good pictures/images of the VCO cab on Google). The garbage trucks were all gasoline powered back then and the 1950's Garwoods had an awesome sounding two-tone "whine" when the ram door was closed and it began to sweep forward and then backward in the hopper. It was the coolest sound that I will never forget and two of the Garwood trucks with this cool sound that I saw frequently were 138 and 137 (circa 1960). I'm certain there were many more 1950's Garwoods in the city but I was very young at the time. I hope this vintage information is helpful for you. Regarding GFL, yesterday (Friday) was our collection day and I was very impressed with the crew of McNeilus rear loader 7802 working yesterday out in the brutal cold of this Polar Vortex we are currently having. Sorry this has been so lengthy! ---- John
Johnwoa can you tell me about bfi more they got brought out by allied waste
@DustIN Cat'zzz It depends on where you are at. In Toronto, Ontario (and Canada), GFL provides yard waste collection where everything is turned into compost and given out for free to the public at Environment Days ("in Toronto"). Residents are also provided with "Green Bins" at no charge that are strictly for organic "wet" solid waste. That stuff undergoes Anaerobic Digestion at solid waste treatment plants to produce natural gas, fuels, etc.... The green bins are collected separately from the straight "Garbage-Garbage Bins". This is how GFL does waste collection in Canada.

GFL has certainly taken over the local industry. They're in the process of repainting the entire fleet. Thanks for the comment!
Where is Gfl located at in south Carolina. And how is it working for them .

Cans upside down??
Yeah I did it’s awesome man
Look at how this company operates at 1:43. Rather than having the truck face the other way to pick up those bags of yard waste, he goes and positions the truck to where it blocks the street. If I was driving the truck, I would turn onto the intersecting street to turn the truck around and park on the side and allow opposing traffic to pass. If anyone wants to know about driving these things, what you see in the video at 1:43 is what you do NOT do at all. If there was a fire at a house and you parked your truck like this driver did, you could be fined and loose your job if the boss found out.
Streetcar1664 most bosses encourage that local law enforcement doesn’t care trust me
Here in the uk with narrow streets on bag collections or in large bin areas that's how we position the wagon, it makes for easier loading quicker times etc, traffic can wait or wagon can be moved quickly if need be.
I saw a lot of No No’s. Drivers and helpers exiting vehicles before complete stops. If Managment approves behavior/practice like this they need to be replaced.
@@nate9002 YOUR RIGHT!
@@Harbinger-cx6jv With what are you going to replace them with. The turnover of employees is so great I lost count. Go temp agencies GO!!!
