I often imagine what it would be like living in one of these old rustic towns...sitting on an old wooden porch, watching the future drive past on a distant highway. How beautiful yet lonely it must be.
You definitely need to do an old route 66 series. It is cluttered with the strangest and best stuff out west. Also, lots of abandoned buildings that went belly up when 40 went in. Not far from where you were, there used to be old route 666 the 'devil's highway'. They had to rename it because businesses along the way didn't like it and people constantly stole the signs.
I love these videos. These remind me of the road trips I used to take with my family when I was a little girl. Lots of native-themed roadside stops, ghost towns, and driving through the desert.
I traveled parts of old Rt 66 in an rv with some friends in 2008, it was phenomenal. We also went to a place called Tecopah Hot Springs, where the man that was working the pools at the time was literally named Huckleberry (what). Such a random place that we took very quiet desert back roads to, but it was awesome! Thanks for another rad video!
wow what a stop...i have never been here, tho Ive lived near it and in NM my whole life. the nests on the side of the dwellings were most likely eagles nests...we have so many bald eagles in NM. the dwelling that looked like a small hut was actually the opening to a dirt house, a home dug into the ground to escape the heat of the summer and stay warm in the winter. many pioneers lived that way as well as natives.
Learning about the geological processes that formed the 'native American cave dwelling' would have been more interesting than all the junk they put in front of it.
In 1987 my grandparents took me and my little sister to the petrified forrest. The way there we begged and begged to stop at yellow horse and go to the world's largest teepee just down from it. We went into the little restaurant upstairs in the teepee. My grandpa went to order food for us, the kid behind the counter said "you mean you wanna eat here?" Like it had never happened before.
Thats one of the tourist places... If you're ever back down that way, I'll take you to the real ruins. I own land just south of sanders, so that my backyard, and I go by that yellowhorse place a lot.
You guys should check out the abandoned old Nickerson Farms and trading post in Pichacho Peak Arizona trading post with the statue near it. That side of town also has interesting abandoned places. It is a total ghost town.
I really like little out of the places like that, unique and kind of sad, too. Plus, I wonder if the yellow dinosaur had a name? I'd name it Quinto. I didn't see the grave. Did you film it? I saw lots of tourist traps in Arizona. The people who ran those places were awfully nice. They would ask us where we came from and we said California. We didn't any negative attitude back.
Oh Lord people of RUclips Dopey. The stuff outside is the remains of a settlement, and a yellow dinosaur Stegosaurus model to be exact. They also have some larger minerals/ semi-precious stones for sale right by the door. The cliff was the dwelling. My aunt stopped here last year so that's why I know what all the stuff is but they're also really nice inside if you talk to them.
I think "DAN" and his buddy need to go back to Baltimore, because they seem out of place in the west! If he took his time to get interviews with the people he wouldn't look like such a RUclips DOPEY!
That place was probably selling fake turquoise. It’s pretty common, you’ll find it for crafts and stuff. Real turquoise is more expensive, but you need to be able to spot the difference.
I'd imagine all that stuff laying around outside is for sale? The way it's all displayed makes me think it is. But if ya havta ask how much, you can't afford it! Probably also owned by the Crater Grinch. lol
Over here in NYC, there is a Native American museum that has a lot of history and the admission is always free. they have a lot of Native American made items. unlike what it looked like in your video.
+Charlotte Moore The stuff indoors looked like made up items. I like all of Dan Bell's videos, but this one wasn't amusing as the others. that's my opinion. I put a like on the video, only because it's Dan Bell's.
I agree--He needs to stick with the Horror stuff and Dead Mall videos and stay away from the "TRAVELING TOURIST" Act! Wasn't impressed with this and several other videos he posted on here about his travels to the west.. The videos seem cheap and run through, and make him look like a DIPSHIT! It seems like he was just filming stuff to post on youtube and not taking his time to make an entertaining video at all.. Sorry for being a critic but FUCK --- IT'S The TRUTH!
I think them not acknowledging each other was a nod to Breaking which was filmed in that town. There are a lot of instances in that show where you see people and things that are in the background that are of importance but never addressed.
Veronny27 Huh, interesting! I never watched the series so I didn't know. That makes sense. It's obvious they knew that the other was there. Adam made it a point to include them in the shot. I was just kind of hoping they would go check out some place together. :)
I like how you said "Native American" instead of what the sign said to be that makes me feel good knowing the difference between an Indian & a Native American
YOU know, some people are so rude. you may not like these type of places but remember PEOPLE just like you , live here. rude comments about what a junk heap it is etc...are so unnecessary. Some folks do not have the luxury of garbage removal or even a dump and by keeping these old things around, as there is nothing to do with it...they become part of the landscape. the people in these places where dan and will are going in NM are poverty stricken places. i would not expect most people to even be able to comprehend what the people in the outlying parts of NM endure, but a bit of compassion for the situation would be much nicer ...get off your high horses people. there are extremely poor people in these places along old route 66. believe that.
Yes it's real turquoise -- The local Navajo Indian Tribes buy it from this guy to make their jewelry and goods so they can sell it.. He probably resells it for them once they get it done, just like the weaved baskets you saw in the video.. But don't ask Dan about that because he doesn't know anything about the west, he's just a tourist doing the best he can to FAKE IT!
I often imagine what it would be like living in one of these old rustic towns...sitting on an old wooden porch, watching the future drive past on a distant highway. How beautiful yet lonely it must be.
....if you only knew, how lonely.
I'm with you on that.. Just learning the history of it also..
You definitely need to do an old route 66 series. It is cluttered with the strangest and best stuff out west. Also, lots of abandoned buildings that went belly up when 40 went in.

I would have bankrupted myself in that little shop. Sooo much neat stuff! Loved the video :)
I traveled parts of old Rt 66 in an rv with some friends in 2008, it was phenomenal. The Things you see and find on Old Rt.66 are so Cool. Thanks, Dan.
Give me places like this over amusement parks anyday, I love seeing these old tourist attractions.
wow what a stop...i have never been here, tho Ive lived near it and in NM my whole life. the nests on the side of the dwellings were most likely eagles nests...we have so many bald eagles in NM. the dwelling that looked like a small hut was actually the opening to a dirt house, a home dug into the ground to escape the heat of the summer and stay warm in the winter. many pioneers lived that way as well as natives.

I clicked on this so fast. I love your videos especially the Dead Mall series. Thanks for the great content!
+Gracie Medford thanks Gracie!
I hope Dan Bell does more 'Dead Mall Series' - I am so addicted to those type of videos, I love it!
+Zynyster me also
Absolutely stunning video! Thanks for taking me on a cross country vacation.
That place didn't seem to make a lot of sense... Farm tools... A pile of rocks... A yellow dinosaur... WTF???
It doesn't make sense because Mister Camera Guy Dosn't know how to get Interviews on his travels.. He's to busy being a "FILMMAKER"!
Let's see your films, dude. (Also, it's "too", not "to".)
beautiful place. It really should be a park, instead of a tourist trap.
Thank you for taking me out of my bedroom and to places I would never set eyes on without you posting your videos Dan.
As a kid living in Gallup, NM my Dad used to take me to this place all the time.
Drove by it in such a hurry to get to Grand Canyon that we didn’t stop Wish we had known more about it and stopped on the way back home to Michigan
In 1987 my grandparents took me and my little sister to the petrified forrest. The way there we begged and begged to stop at yellow horse and go to the world's largest teepee just down from it. Dan your videos are so well done, inspired me to make my own youtube and try to walk the same path. Always great content man !
Great Video Dan and Will - can feel the vibes here as the old reservation. Very enjoyable thank you.
Thanks Dan and Will. Another great video.
Great video as always! It's fascinating to see old roadside attractions like this. Also, I love that t-shirt Will, that's hilarious!
You 2 guys go to the coolest most interesting places I have ever seen! Thanks DB!
Wow, that landscape takes my breath away.
Thats one of the tourist places... If you're ever back down that way, I'll take you to the real ruins. I own land just south of sanders, so that my backyard, and I go by that yellowhorse place a lot.
I love this attraction :) awesome video Dan, Keep them coming ^~^!
Ive been here, i thought it was pretty cool. The owners are really nice people
Thanks for making this video. I wouldn't have ever known what this place is, as I've passed it many times!
I love it there. Took my two teen sons. Wish we had more time.
LMAO chief yellow horse was a baseball pitcher for the pirates in the early 20s. this is THE definition of a tourist trap
Those yellow dinosaurs were a real menace in the Old West.
Iam so envious. I have always wanted to do what you are doing.
You guys should check out the abandoned old Nickerson Farms and trading post in Pichacho Peak Arizona trading post with the statue near it. That side of town also has interesting abandoned places. It is a total ghost town.
Great as always. New Dead Mall when? Please I need it baby.
So creepy but I agree
Thank you so much for sharing your road trip!
Whoa I've never been so early for a video!
You guys are amazing and I can't wait to see where you go next!
+Lavish Lava60 😉
Hoping for a new add to the dead mall series in this part of the world!
Love this (and all of your)video(s) I would have gone nuts in that little border shop!
Excellent videos. Thank you.
Did that yellow dinosaur escape from the Flintstones' place? :) Very odd collection of things. The cliff dwellings are beautiful.
Oh Lord people of RUclips Dopey. The stuff outside is the remains of a settlement, and a yellow dinosaur Stegosaurus model to be exact. They also have some larger minerals/ semi-precious stones for sale right by the door. The cliff was the dwelling. My aunt stopped here last year so that's why I know what all the stuff is but they're also really nice inside if you talk to them.
that is not a stegosaurus, its a very poorly modelled triceratops
lol..they certainty are that... speaking before they have any clue!
"certainty"????????? Doofus
I think "DAN" and his buddy need to go back to Baltimore, because they seem out of place in the west! If he took his time to get interviews with the people he wouldn't look like such a RUclips DOPEY!
I beleive the lake view mall in michigan is still standing dispite constant treats of demolishing, its been empty for over 12 years
xNeinxX if you're talking about the one in Battle Creek, it's still open, though it is struggling
I go by that place just about every week.
I actually have a season pass, Pays for itself after 7 visits!
This place looks like something from the movie Duel (1971) starring Dennis Weaver and a truck
would love to see more of this place from you guys... :-)
This was great! Thanks for the upload, Dan...but uh...do you know when the next Dead Mall will come? That series is very mysterious :3
Two thumbs up! Neat place.
Yes! More route 66 please.
Wow the cave dwelling/rock is gorgeous! I would love to take a trip out west and see that gorgeous landscape.
That place was probably selling fake turquoise. It’s pretty common, you’ll find it for crafts and stuff. Real turquoise is more expensive, but you need to be able to spot the difference.
I used to drive by there all the time. lol
Chief yellow horse was the first full blooded American Indian to be a professional baseball player for the Pittsburgh Pirates from 1921 to 1922
That was so awesome!!! Did you guys buy anything from there?
I'd imagine all that stuff laying around outside is for sale? The way it's all displayed makes me think it is. But if ya havta ask how much, you can't afford it! Probably also owned by the Crater Grinch. lol
I would love to go to this attration
@3:04 the Tipi is beautiful!
Will is so amazingly handsome!
So pretty!
Loved the video thanks Dan
Reminds me of the Chief Woodenhead part from the 2nd? 3rd? Creepshow movie.
Maybe Chief Yellowhorse rode the big dinosaur?
you find all kinds of bizarre things in the desert
Oh yeah you did it !
will you guys ever come to kansas? if so you should check out the gate to hell
LOL what a tourist trap !
Still waiting for you guys to go back to the creepy abandoned places like the Children's asylum or the meat plant.....
this Is really Awesome like to visit their
Cool location.
Intresting place
How am I just seeing this now in 2019?!?
Dan..approximately how much did that big block if turquoise cost?
Great video:)
Over here in NYC, there is a Native American museum that has a lot of history and the admission is always free. they have a lot of Native American made items. unlike what it looked like in your video.
By this do you mean the things in the video are fake lol very interesting

awesome!
Probably shouldn't announce that your carrying a bunch of 20's around with you. Stay safe.
Dan just say no to bird nests! Haven't you guys had enough fun already? 🐧🐤🐦
1:23 You should've said "Hi-how-are-ya, Hi-how-are-ya, Hi-how-are-ya, Hi-how-are-ya,"
No need to be disrespectful.
The place looks like upstate NY, where I live. 99% of people's yards are full of piles of junk, and an old car, and the one strange object.
you might see adamthewoo if lucky.. he's on route 66 as well
yup
My dollar, is going nowhere... 8-)
it is called a "tourist trap!"
Americana!
reminds me of fallout new vegas
was hoping you guys would meet the woo out there, but looks like you're heading opposite directions :)
I was hoping for that too! They were even in the same restaurant but didn't seem to acknowledge each other! (at least on camera).
I think them not acknowledging each other was a nod to Breaking which was filmed in that town. There are a lot of instances in that show where you see people and things that are in the background that are of importance but never addressed.

haha cool, i didnt notice them in that vid, i'll have to go back and look :)
lol what video is it? watching through recent ones but no dan and will sightings
52 views in 8 mins not bad!
Will needs to work on that muffin top, lol.
i liked it, but i'm not sure what most of it was.
I like how you said "Native American" instead of what the sign said to be that makes me feel good knowing the difference between an Indian & a Native American
I'm too early, the video is still 360 😩
Um, where is the grave? 🤔
world's most depressing road side attraction
lol Good Morning

Thanks for the PSA.
Thank you! People need re discover compassion.
So did you get change for a 20 and make a donation?
Was wondering the same thing
Dan are you sure that's REAL turquoise?
Yes it's real turquoise -- The local Navajo Indian Tribes buy it from this guy to make their jewelry and goods so they can sell it.. He probably resells it for them once they get it done, just like the weaved baskets you saw in the video.. But don't ask Dan about that because he doesn't know anything about the west, he's just a tourist doing the best he can to FAKE IT!
Video is awesome ! The site not so much lol it looks boring 😬
Wow-This amazing-...I'd love a picture with will's RED SOCK'S..lol...joking,,we lv u will
