Here is how to get to and install the map files without the launcher: Extract the the .Zip file and open the containing folder. Open the "MGS Shadow Moses Island for Minecraft" folder. Copy the "world_master" folder to " %appdata%\.minecraft\saves ". Open your Minecraft client and go to Single Player. You will now see "MGS:Shadow Moses" under your world saves.
Reichenstein7 Thank you for the help. But how do I start it in adventure mode and play the story? It keeps starting me in creative with a bunch of stuff in my inventory
My mistake, it actually works. It's just that it starts me in the hanger. Do you happen to have the coordinates to the beginning of the map? I don't want to do this wrongly

For the full instructions: You have to extract the "Minecraft MGS Shadow Moses Island v1.2" folder and there is a text file called "Launcher Instruction Manual". Basically, After the folder is extracted you can go to "Minecraft MGS Shadow Moses Island v1.2\MGS Shadow Moses Island for Minecraft" and click the "MGS Shadow Moses Launcher v1.2.exe". This will launch a command prompt that will ask which game mode and hardness you want to launch. It then launches a local server that you can join with your client.

This really needs a texture pack for the dark metallic structures in the shadow moses hanger, and the railing and everything!
Custom texture packs are possible and there are surely some people who'll do texture pack commissions. If not, the city texture pack can look good

Reichenstein7 I tried this but the second the launcher starts it immediately stops working
have Rex battle and the escape route to snow field to fox island
