@igodreamer7096 They were a paid off unit, of whom WAS a very popular review show that many had been invested into by mass appeal at those times. I remember being the outlier in my friend groups at that time, and most didn't mind the weird direction that developers were taking the gaming industry all of a sudden because "the graphics were improving" and simply the hype around releases of whatever game.
Critics wanted to see the DS and Nintendo fail. It was just how that era of gaming was. This was Post-Gamecube, Pre-Wii. This was also hot on the heels of the REmake so I could see critics being burnt on the franchise. The DS didn't have too many great titles, this is one of them, despite being a port.
Resident Evil DS Deadly Silence is my favorite Resident Evil game all together. I don't know why but the portability mixed with all the extra stuff plus maybe my nostalgia make this version awesome
Ubdoubtedly the best port of the original Resident Evil. I personally really like the updated models and animations. They just look so clean and smooth. I remember that infamous G4 review. I think I even left a very angry comment on it here on RUclips. Dunno if that video is still. It's the reason why I never got the hype for Adam Sessler or as he's known nowadays, Adam Cesspool.
Would have loved to see RE2 and RE3 ported to DS as well. Growing up as a kid in the early 90s, it felt amazing to be able to play 3D games on a handheld for the first time, like Mario 64, RE1, etc. Stuff you'd only deamt about a decade earlier. Granted, the DS was almost a full generation behind the PSP which released only about a year later, but even so, playing fully 3D games on a handheld was still an incredibly novel thing back in the day (regardless of whether it was PS1/N64 graphics, or full-blown 'almost PS2' graphics).
Resident Evil Deadly Silence is my favourite one too! 2007 was 8 years old my first ever resident evil game! It was my childhood, been born a 90s kid in 1999 and playing this felt to me like the 90s again and I was living the 90s gaming experience. Edit: when i was younger i got to play the multiplayer mode with 3 of us.
The best re-release of the re1 OG. I always believed that Brad shouts "you're an amazon jill"; I'm going to sound really bad but most game journalists were and are failed journalists that can't find a job in a real newspaper or a serious web news; they aren't true gamers! I couldn't agree more with everything you said in this video. I love this port and am so glad it exists. PLUS this version of the save room theme is my favorite of all the re1 ports.
This was the first RE1 game I bought months before I got the RE1 remake for the GameCube back in 2006 because the original PS1 was hard to find in the small town that was living in the time. As well for the critics they always downplay the really good things which if they say it's bad we know it's good.

Resident Evil Deadly Silence is basically the BEST port and version of the original Resident evil ever. The new animations ( Specially the zombies one looks so crisp ) Looks so good, I also like ( since RE 4 already existed before this port ) they added the knife ready have it's own button aswell, also with the 360 rotation, aswell as new more contents. This version is sooo good it can face RE 1 Remake head on.
@@Gruntvc The closest we got for RE 2 with this kind of treatment is the N64 port of it. Just like this DS version, you can edit the gore from low, medium, and high. You can also select to 3 more blood colors than just 2. But besides that, that's it. Oh yah, it's just 64 MB.and it still has all the FMV scenes and content than the original have.
@the29thboxofreality, The N64 port is impressive. Really don't get why they didn't port RE1 DC and especially RE3 Nemesis to N64. At least RE2 and RE3 got GameCube ports, but no RE1 DC port lol. Starcraft N64 is also an impressive port. It includes both Starcraft 1 and the Brood War content. Though they had to cut most of the cutscenes to fit them on an N64 cart. Weird how they didn't port Starcraft to PS1 or PS2. Dreamcast also got good ports of RE2 and RE3 Nemesis. But no RE1 DC port lol. Capcom is weird with their ports. We need the original RE trilogy and Dino Crisis 1&2 on current consoles and pc.

I believe there are mods on PC to enhance the image quality and backgrounds resolution and stuff of the OG Trilogy, but yeah, it's unlikely we'll ever get anything official.

But without counting the quick knife and tactical reload, was the original mode in this a little easier balanced then the original on psx? I guess it doesn't help that the REmake was still a Gamecube exclusive at the time of RE:DS's release which had fans saying why not re-release that instead.
Question on remakes... why was RE2 Remake so Bloody astoundingly fantastic! to the point where I had at least 15 playthoughts.. a platinum trophy + I was in the world leaders' top 20 for speed running on ps4 - for like a day, lol .. ( as people discovered hard to do glitches, etc ) But the one !! Remake I had my heart set on was RE3 .. I couldn't believe how it went from amazing to just not caring. + RE3 on ps1 is still one of my favourite horror games ... ( I mean, they didn't even include the intro ... ) or anything that made re 3 so speciel I get someone is going to say they wanted to do something different but fuck sake ! Why not INCLUDE AND EXPAND the existing! Work of art !!!! WHAT A LETDOWN ... I just genuinly still can't get my head around how u go from a work of art. Hell of a remake to crap ... rushed ? Not as much love from the team ? Wanting to push the cycle and focus on the other newer RE titles? .. just bogus The physics in re2 alone !! Just so cool to play with ... The music was crap .. boring locations .. wierd unscary nemesis.. tur Ed it from survival horror- to a action game... It's the exact way I see village and the other RE games they just slap RE on to sell it. Honestly, they are trash though,... Lol, sorry, I'm just passionate about ps1 games as that was my era, and I understand how a remake should be done !! This was a total retelling, and I didn't enjoy it personally . No village or whatever that one before was called ( I can't even remember it was just crap ) 1-2-3 original are grails, and so is 4. But I separate 4 in my gaming mind because to me it's not really about the core game anymore, but 4 ! Is excellent in its own lane ! I haven't played 4s remake yet, but from what I can see, it looks great
Yeah, this game was awesome to play. It's definitely the best version of RE1. 😂 also, I wish they released the N64 version of RE0 for DS that would of been amazing but shocked that game reviewers were hating on this 😳 like what the hell I can see why G4 went out of business 😂😂
Something i dont get i played this as a teen and loved it but i tried the hd switch port of the remake and kept getting lost 😅 not having that map really made me confused and the puzzles felt harder because of that, Shame really as ill always see this version as the best now for that small reason
I didn't know that there is a DS port of RE1. Gotta say they did an amazing job working on this port. There's lots of cool features added into the game, and the way you use the stylus pen to do knife attacks is awesome. It's like looking at a MOD here. Seriously that lady who reviewed RE1, is just being way too harsh on this port. Comparing towards George Lucas is just so bizarre. I mean this lady hates him for some reason. I guess she had a hard time playing an old survival horror game. Maybe that's why she gave a terrible review of it.
This game is proof that even back then games journalists were full of shit.

Question on remakes... why was RE2 Remake so Bloody astoundingly fantastic! to the point where I had at least 15 playthoughts.. a platinum trophy + I was in the world leaders' top 20 for speed running on ps4 - for like a day, lol .. ( as people discovered hard to do glitches, etc )
But the one !! Remake I had my heart set on was RE3 .. I couldn't believe how it went from amazing to just not caring. + RE3 on ps1 is still one of my favourite horror games ... ( I mean, they didn't even include the intro ... ) or anything that made re 3 so speciel
I get someone is going to say they wanted to do something different but fuck sake ! Why not INCLUDE AND EXPAND the existing! Work of art !!!! WHAT A LETDOWN ... I just genuinly still can't get my head around how u go from a work of art. Hell of a remake to crap ... rushed ? Not as much love from the team ? Wanting to push the cycle and focus on the other newer RE titles? .. just bogus
The physics in re2 alone !!
No village or whatever that one before was called ( I can't even remember it was just crap )
1-2-3 original are grails, and so is 4. But I separate 4 in my gaming mind because to me it's not really about the core game anymore, but 4 ! Is excellent in its own lane ! I haven't played 4s remake yet, but from what I can see, it looks great
Hey I heard Constantine films is going to be doing a Resident Evil Zero movie and a new Netflix series.
Sad that the critics panned this and it didn't sell well, would of loved to play RE2 on the go
Yeah, this game was awesome to play. It's definitely the best version of RE1. 😂 also, I wish they released the N64 version of RE0 for DS that would of been amazing but shocked that game reviewers were hating on this 😳 like what the hell I can see why G4 went out of business 😂😂
Chance you will review the cgi movies Vendetta and Death Island?
This game is almost perfect! Why didn't they include the Colt Python, Ingram and FN Mini as unlockables for beating the game???
Something i dont get i played this as a teen and loved it but i tried the hd switch port of the remake and kept getting lost 😅 not having that map really made me confused and the puzzles felt harder because of that, Shame really as ill always see this version as the best now for that small reason
This looks gooooood
I didn't know that there is a DS port of RE1. Gotta say they did an amazing job working on this port. There's lots of cool features added into the game, and the way you use the stylus pen to do knife attacks is awesome. It's like looking at a MOD here.
Seriously that lady who reviewed RE1, is just being way too harsh on this port. Comparing towards George Lucas is just so bizarre. I mean this lady hates him for some reason. I guess she had a hard time playing an old survival horror game. Maybe that's why she gave a terrible review of it.
this sounds pretty good because of those bastards we're probably not gonna get resident evil deadly silence 2
Have this game unfortunately never had anyone to play the multiplayer function with.
I want to play thisss
I hated having the gameplay on the bottom screen. Esp since the top one looks alot better.
I had NO idea about the dart game?!
Me neither😮
This was an epic littie games played it to death. The 10x speed knife was great😂
I had this ds game it was badass 🔥
U know at the time usa was trying to bury japan games like HHH with a sledgehammer.
Loved X-Play back in the day but they were wrong about this one
Resident evil 2 & 3DS 😭😭😭😭
Sega Saturn is the best version that came out in the 90s
