I am 75, I went from 2 coffee dates in 17 years to a 51 year old girl friend who beautiful and treats me better than a maid by moving to the Philippines.
Me: it's okey, i'm gonna give you a break to retire from me". Her: - Well, how long should we do that? Me: "Retirement means it's for the rest of your life".
@@lonestarrk9308 Exactly. When a person asks for a "break", it's almost never intended as a temporary thing. It's a passive-aggressive way to end a relationship without verbally acknowledging the fact that the relationship is done. It is diabolical in its nature as a weak-minded person will keep a space open in their heart for a possibility that most likely will not happen and when the truth is figured out, a resentful and wrathful person is created.
When my ex wife gave me divorce papers, i told her," your never gonna find someone who loves you like i do". She says," there better out there Mark"! Since then I finished raising my son's from her, got remarried, started a business, enjoying grandchildren now. She's still single and not doing anything productive in her life. She's attempted suicide, she drinks too much, gotta couple of DWI's, had a kid with another guy who dumped her as soon as he found she was pregnant. She's a mess, yet still tries to tell my kids that it's all my fault. It's been twenty years we've been divorced and she still blames me for her shortcomings. Then around Christmas time she tells my son's that she thinks she still " loves" me. My son told her," mom, dad's taken. Find someone else". I tell my son's the three best things i got from your mom was you two guys, and a divorce. Sorry for the long read. Thanks
My first serious girl friend did this to me and ripped my heart of out my chest. Accused me of cheating as a reason, she came back 1.5 months later to my house looking like the best ice cream cone on a hot summer day. She smelt and looked so good. She offered to come inside and talk, but i said i’ll come outside. She came back to me it was perfect, tooo perfect so i decided as much i loved her i would stay single. Few months later i realized she was pregnant. Thank God i never let her come inside to talk that day or i would be fathering a child that is not mine. Her mom saw me years later as i became a staple in our community and hugged me soo tight. I told her to tell her daughter I said thank you. She saw me years later and told me the best days of her life was when we were together. My best days came after she left and I’m still Living my best life.
Because that’s the worst thing you could ever do right? Father a child that’s not yours. I thank God everyday for the man that stepped up for my grandson.

For everyone asking for the name of the movie…I believe this is the 2016 film titled “How to be Single” with Dakota Johnson, Rebel Wilson, Leslie Mann and Alison Brie. Hope this helps!
I did. We got some beautiful kids out of it. Otherwise, it was a mistake. She was always leaving me and seeing how much money she could take with her. After years is that i finally left. My life is much better without her. Don't stay with someone who takes breaks from you.
My ex had the opportunity to spend some time in the US (Brazilian here, btw) and 4 months into her "experience" she asked me for a break. I didn't ever let her explain the BS and told her "I just hope you know what you've just done" and blocked all communication. Little time after that I found my beloved wife, caring mother of my blessed son. I regret nothing!
I had a coworker tell me her mom told her to have sex with more guys before committing to her current boyfriend who she had discussed marriage with. She left dude for a "bit" as she called it to do just that. She came back and dude told her, you left me to fuck other guys, get the fuck out of my house.
Real life, I was head over heels and begged her to stay. 18 years later she calls me and says it was always me. None of her other relationships worked because she still loved me. Well I had met the actual real love of my life and there was no way I was going backwards! I have someone now that stayed with me through all of life’s up and downs and I didn’t have to beg and there was no way I would ever screw that up!

An ex tried to pull the same sh!t on me. Said we needed a break and when I tried to get some clarification what that meant she wouldn't elaborate. After a little while I saw that she was seeing other guys, a couple pretty seriously, so I moved on. About 4-5 years later she moves back to our city and we hang out a few times to catch up- at least that's what it was to me but she felt we were supposed to be dating and that I wasn't giving her the 'dating' level attention. I had a straightforward conversation with her that it took a painstaking 2 years to fully get over her and now I'm in a good place in my life, and I had different desires including the type of person I wanted to be with. She tries to backtrack to how it was supposed to be just a break and I was like... you know what I can't do this, good luck with your stuff, it was nice while it lasted, I've got my own life to live. Things got messy for a bit but it's over now and I'm confident that I'm better off than if I got back with her. Wishing the best for those who are experiencing similar BS 🙏
Yeah ya think? She took a "break" from you to go and sleep with a bunch of other guys because modern culture taught her she needed to have a "hoe phase" or else she wouldn't be complete and the FOMO got to her. So essentially the deal was and always is: You have her in the beginning when she was either a virgin or had only slept with 1-2 people, you take a "break" while she goes and sleeps with whoever she wants whenever, and then she comes back to you older, traumatized with loads of emotional baggage she didn't have before, and a used up hole that was once a respectable and marriageable woman worthy of having your children.

I had a breakup in college that set me back. Took a while to get over it. Five years later I met a certain young lady. I fought the feelings I had for her for a while. I decided to commit 100 percent. We just celebrated our 53rd year of marriage. If you can't commit totally, don't commit at all.
Good morning, just wanted to say congratulations on your successful marriage. It’s certainly not always easy and requires much tolerance, selflessness and work from both parties. Hey, but I’ll shut up because who am I to say this to you? After 53 years you already know. Possibly wrote the book. My sincerest congratulations to you. Wishing you both all the very best.
If you can’t commit--Don’t bother dating around or at all, you only hurt others deeply. Thank You--Congrats on 53 years but here’s to many more too!My folks are 64 years-happily and going strong! They committed all the way to do well in life!
When my fiancée told me she wanted to leave me on the morning of my 22nd birthday, I thought she was trying to destroy me. But when she came back nine months later begging me to take her back, I thanked her for giving me the best gift I'd ever been given: clarity.

Man that hits home. Still having adoration for someone you thought the world of and keeping their gifts because it reminds you of the good times. And even though you freely forgive people, you also know she won’t ever have her priorities in order and can’t be trusted with your heart. Some people don’t realize that the grass is more often greener where you water it. Or that the purpose of love is sharing the same yoke and being able to testify in the end that your partner was better for having known you. If you fear that someone won’t then leave them be and work on your heart instead.
My first live in girlfriend gave almost this exact speech when we broke up. She reached out to me 2 months later trying to rekindle things. While she was gone for those 2 months, my life was so stress free, and simple. I refused to get back with her
This was me after an abusive boyfriend - now ex - had to go away for work because he couldn’t find a job where we lived. The day after he left, I felt like I could breath. The days & weeks following, I realized that I was better off without him. The peace of mind, the clarity was coming in. I was healing from the depression that came on & the weight gain, as a result of verbal abuse. I was working out, eating healthy, feeling good about my time without him. I wasn’t seeing anyone new, I was just working & enjoying my time alone & regaining a sense of Self. It’s actually a blessing when someone goes their own way for awhile & allows you to be alone with yourself, regardless of who it is & for what reason. It’s when someone tries to come back in, just expecting you to be there waiting for however long … that is disrespectful.
What a brilliant actress. You can see the sudden but subtle shift of emotions on her face as he moves from "whatever you've done" to "whoever you've done it with"
He gave her a gift though. That is, an opportunity for her to learn that choices come with consequences. Hopefully, she learns & grows from this. We all fxck it up somewhere as we are only ppl. But men & women from all over learn from these experiences & grow. That's why it is called experience. Which is why all those grandpas, grandmas, uncles & aunties have all that wisdom.

After 10 years together and 3 years apart, my ex happened to see me out with a girl who l was casually seeing. Literally the following day, l received a phone call from my ex asking me to take her back. I said, "l am surprised you would think that after being with other people, you could come back to me. Let's be clear, that's NEVER happening! I'm not your backup plan or safety net. All said with a calm, matter-of-fact and unemotional delivery. After 3 years of being apart, l had finished going through the emotional pain of the breakup and had reached a point where l couldn't care less.
Good for you. I have a slightly different take on what happened though. This gal initially saw you as a Beta and broke up with you thinking she could do better (hypergamous doubt) and then later on saw you with this other gal (preselection by another woman) and now sees you as a Alpha. You did have another option here though, you could see her but only as a plate (spinning plates). You may never take her seriously (or you may, all women are hypergamous) but you could have fun with her and see close and up front how this works. The ironic part of doing that is that she would probably try to REALLY nail you down. Once she did (if you were dumb enough to let her), she would see you as a Beta again. Women just can't love like men and I guess we just need to accept it. Sigh! 😅

EVERYONE needs to understand this lesson, true love doesn’t need to be tested, compared and contrasted, experimented on; it just needs to be appreciated and nurtured. If you think you’re missing out on “life” be adventurous with your love, have fun with your love, try new things with your love, grow together. If you two can’t do that, you weren’t meant to be together; if the other person can’t do that, they’re holding you back; if YOU can’t do that, you’re holding THEM back, and probably don’t love them in the way they need to be loved :(
Just before I got married I started to get cold feet. I asked my fiance if we should take a break. She told me if we took a break she wouldn't promise she'd be around. I thought I had something to get out of my system but in reality I would have made a big mistake. I stuck around and I'm thankful that I did. We now have two awesome kids and I'll spend a lifetime letting her know that she was the right choice all along.
You’re a better man than most for admitting that, I’m glad you knocked some sense into yourself. This “something in my system” mentality is something so annoyingly childish, like hiking halfway up a mountain, feeling a bit tired, and instead of enjoying your progress you’re wondering if the view had in fact looked better from below. It didn’t! You wouldn’t have started the hike if it did, quit thinking about nonsense and enjoy where you are, how far you’ve come, and where you’re going. I guess it’s more fear of the unknown, which is natural.. but “change is the only constant in life”, you’ll never be able to go back to how things were, even if you were once happy being a bachelor/ playboy/ Casanova, your experience in a loving relationship will ensure that you will never be happy with the lifestyle you previously had. All your life experiences build up and make you who you are, you can’t just attempt to ‘go back’ and slice out the last 5 years. Sorry for the rant, this “something in my system” thing is so common, and it’s always just ignorant self sabotage.
@ahumanaperson that's fair. At the time I had some self esteem issues. I thought I needed to respond to any and all female attention I got. It was pretty pathetic. I won't go all Freudian but I had to find my value as a man. I'm a good person for the most part but I have my flaws. Once I stopped letting my flaws define me and realized I didn't need "female attention". I just needed my wife's attention. I had everything I needed but I needed those self esteem issues out of my system in order to see that clearly. Now I try to mentor others so they don't make those mistakes. Young men are taught that they have no value and that women are the priority. I won't go into my soap box but men need to become men again and learn their value absent women. Only then will they be truly valuable TO women. I admit I almost made a terrible mistake. I've made many my mistakes since being married. I try to learn from them and not repeat them. That's all anyone can do.
I just broke up with my girlfriend of 4.5 years because of the feelings I had weren’t 100%. But I do hope I can get her back but i think it’s selfish to commit to something I’m not fully feeling. Of course I fear that I won’t find anyone like her again or that we won’t get back together. But I have to try. Ultimately the main thing I hope for is her happiness. I wanted to make it work so badly and that’s why I stuck around for so long.
@C63Bez it's one thing to break off a good thing to play the field. It's another to break it off because you're not really in love with her. It's not fair to you or her to stay if it's only a matter of convenience and not because you're truly feeling her in that way. In the end, you'll either realize that you are truly in love, in which case, I wish you luck getting her back or you'll realize this was the best decision you could have made. In the case of my wife, I don't know if I would have ended up with someone prettier, better in bed, or a higher earner. What I do know is that she's dtf almost daily, she's lovely inside and out, she doesn't hassle me about small things, and she gave me two of the cutest n smartest kids I could have asked for. The lesson learned? Don't seek perfection. Seek contentment. I'm content with who I'm with. Not a lot of people can say that. Hope you can some day.
I was in that situation long time ago. She broke up because she wanted space a week after she was banging another guy. I had a painful recovery and even the doctor gave me antidepressant to cope with the pain. Six months after I fully recovered and got over her. She didn’t even call me she had her friend as a messenger to tell me she wanted to get back together because she was ready to be with me but I did exactly what he did. Told her friend to tell her I want nothing to do with her and wish her good luck with her life.
I've been told I was insecure, controlling, etc. and that's why they wanted to end the relationships. I would, in the end, say ok. Later when they came back, I'd ask, you said I was all these horrible things, why do you want to get back together with a terrible person like me? They would say they said those things just to hurt me. Then I'd ask well why did you leave and the responses would be to find out what they wanted, and they realized it was me they wanted after all. I would tell them, I'm very sorry but while you were out trying to figure out what you wanted, I was figuring out what I didn't want. I'd rather be alone. Its crazy how many relationships ended that way including my marriage (25 years ago). Edit: my last relationship ended like that 8 1/2 years ago. As you can see, I'm done with relationships!
"they would say those things to hurt me". Well, why would I want to be with someone who wants to hurt me? I told you you were hurting me, and you still did it. The trust is broken. Goodbye, have a nice life.
@Polopollo75, you are correct and I agree. There are 7.8 billion people on this planet. We shouldn't lose our minds over one. I can understand why they used that strategy as one of the ways to go away. I don't think they realized it also helped me move along as well and not look back. I still love them all and wish them all nothing but happiness and success. I can love them from afar, I just can't live with them and that is ok.

It took me years to figure that out. I don't know what tv show this is from. However I can reflect on my own experience of wanting a break from a past relationship. It was an unhealthy relationship, ab*usive, and I had been feeling like I lost myself. I didn't know who I was outside of the relationship, having molded myself for years to try to fit his wants/needs. I understand the feeling of needing to know who I am on my own, what it's like to live alone, to learn myself all over again. I needed to be in my own energy for a few days. I was in limbo, awaiting an answer. I would never allow anyone to tell me that I need them in my life. What I needed was myself back. I don't need anyone. I know the difference between my wants and my needs and sometimes what we need isn't the same thing as what we want.

My ex tried to still come back and asked me to break off my engagement!! Noooo. My husband is the best thing that ever happened to me. We have been together 11 years.
Everything aside, this was some great acting. Her eyes movement when he said "who you've been doing it with". Crazy acting ability to convey all that emotion and guilt with just small movements of your face.
Bro this is the exact same way my first love broke up with me except she was gone for good and a few years later got married. She even sent me an invitation to her marriage ceremony. I politely declined because no man wants to see the woman who he dearly loved getting married to another man right in front of his eyes
The only thing that can heal that wound is meeting someone better. Have a look at the music video for the song “The River” by Live… it captures the essence of this perfectly. Like in the song, my girlfriend (now wife) came to me “without warning” and we’ve now been happily married for 3+ years and have a beautiful son. This came after many years of thinking I may never be in love again… yet I chose to never lose hope.
That's so spiteful to send that to you. I would've took a picture of me giving the middle finger, print it out in color, put it in envelope with the invitation and mail it back to the sender.
I asked someone out in the tenth grade, and she said that wasn't interested since she just broke up with her boyfriend. Fast forward to years later, I bumped into her, completely forgetting about that until she said something about it, and said that she was ready. I was no longer interested in her. Point is, guys don't wait around forever for a single person because someone else will come along and recognize us for our value, and we reciprocate that.
Literally happened to me and she hated my guys and tried to ruin my reputation because I wouldn’t take her back, hacked my info and kept people away from me to try and make me think “I made the wrong decision” smh disgusting 🙄
I hate (and yes I do mean that word) most Rom-Coms and Hallmark movies, but boiled down to a few minutes, this is perfect. “When you love something, let it GO” is a great way to deal with people who tell you they need to “find themselves.”

You have her in the beginning when she was either a virgin or had only slept with 1-2 people, you take a "break" while she goes and sleeps with whoever she wants whenever, and then she comes back to you older, traumatized with loads of emotional baggage she didn't have before, and a used up hole that was once a respectable and marriageable woman worthy of having your children.

I'm myself insecure with women out there kind of icks me when I grew up as a teenager that women often loves guys who are tall handsome or good in studies or smart or have good physic or great in sports or the most popular if they are rich
I was just avg in about everything and I knew I might be the one who isn't loved for personality or other good values Money is the key nothing matters
But when you grow up and take good care of yourself at a point where you become rich handsome and smart or all the traits that women want especially marriage
For someone who never had any relationship back then girls just want to know about me and I can see man money is the key that drives them towards me..... It just ticks me off the wrong way cause I'm really insecure type of guy very emotional and just don't want to be used.... That's why I haven't been in relations either

This is satisfying to watch. Dear Men, never chase or wait for a woman. Be with someone who wants to be with you. Know your worth. Know your value. Protect your peace, Kings. Your spouse is the most important decision you'll make in your life.
It took me years to figure that out. I’m married now for 16 years, but in my single days I once had a breakup that normally would have sent me into depression for a period, but that time I went out to a club that same night where I knew there would be plenty of women, maybe not keepers, but it still made me realize that night that everything was going to be fine and there was no use agonizing over a failed relationship when there were other women that would be happy to replace her.
No games!

I had a similar experience. After three and a half years, she called me to say I "just wasn't her person." I said "OK", and we parted. Three months later, she contacted me to say she had made a terrible mistake and wanted to reconnect. I told her that ship has sailed and it was too late.
Once a cheater, always a cheater. .Good for you.
This is a real man of value. Don't waste your time with someone who don't know who they are.
This broad was so convinced she had him wrapped that he'd just take her back. Good on him for standing up, having a backbone and respecting his worth. Leave her for the streets.
This was my ex, left twice with the meanest words, very apologetic when she came back, the 2nd time she came back, i could tell she felt i'll take her back guaranteed.

He was a gentleman, I cried but wished him all the happiness in the world cause I truly loved him. They have 2 little kids and are happily married. Thats some great acting by Dakota there ...
