Never allow someone to cheat and let them return. You will never see them the same way no matter how hard you try. It will always be in the back of your mind. They will always be the right environment away from doing it again - knowing you will take them back if they do. I've been there and I would never ever let myself be there again... It is the worst pain I have ever felt in my life. I would rather break all my limbs multiple times than be that guy again. My mentality is damaged beyond repair so I have major trust issues and I have resigned myself to being single for the rest of my life. I have planned a good life of holidays, international travel, and seeing the world. I will look after my family and friends and once my parents have died I will move abroard for a new start somewhere else outside the west. My glass is half full not half empty, and I will do my best to savour every sip left.

My experience is my own and after talking with councillors I know I have a form of PTSD from living it. My issue is not that I don't trust the other person to stay faithful (although that is of course a worry). My trust issue is more about my own damage. I don't believe I would make a good partner in my current state. I don't want to be a burden to someone. Why should I trauma dump someone else when I can just try to live a good life on my own.

Seriously feel your pain. I've been down that path. It happened decades ago but the shadow is still there, less often but the memories do get triggered. For me, it was also life-changing. Trust, self-esteem, ability to build meaningful relationships, all of it. My dilemma is that I wish I could go back to that moment when she told me - its crystal clear in my head, the time, the place, the day - and say 'I'm done, thats it, goodbye' but I didn't. And yet, where I am in life now, wouldn't have happened had I done so! Its bizarre, really. Eventually I left and made a life that I should be truly grateful for. But that damn shadow....
I've seen people cheat and be okay, so sorry, your experience is not necessarily the norm. Fragile people with giant ego's will have trust issues. Especially people who will "be single forever cause I can't risk someone sticking their ding ding in another hoo-ha" Come on man.
@@funkmonster I'm glad to say that you like me are just one person. We have no way to know for sure if mine is the norm or yours. We all speak from experience and from our own view.
My experience is my own and after talking with councillors I know I have a form of PTSD from living it.
My issue is not that I don't trust the other person to stay faithful (although that is of course a worry). My trust issue is more about my own damage. I don't believe I would make a good partner in my current state. I don't want to be a burden to someone.
Why should I trauma dump someone else when I can just try to live a good life on my own.

the difference between choices and mistakes is that mistakes aren't intentional, choices are. when you betray someone's trust you weren't making a mistake, you were making a clear conscious decision, your a sinner, the only things that will fix it is to repent and be better. doesn't matter if you hit the gutter because of it and weather or not you can climb out, you made that choice *own up to it* and maybe it will get better, otherwise the worlds better of with you at your lowest where you cant hurt anyone.
