So many feelings here, I remember bringing this specific mag to high school and reading it all day in class, really takes me back. Thanks for pulling these together and sharing
I was a teenager in 96. I had worked all summer and had 7G in hand...I bought Marty Burrs bike...Ranked 4th in Canadian proChampionship..Factory Yamaha supported......I was ontop of the world I also had my 89 CR125...That YZ felt lightyears beyond my CR...
I loved my 96 CR125 and added a Bill’s Works pipe, Pro Taper bars. Unfortunately I always sold my bikes in the winter and got the new models. I would LOVE to have my 96 CR125 & 250 back!!! By far my favorite year from my racing career!! Great video!!
I had the RM too, and it was the best,.. if you rode it hard and fast, because as soon as you backed off it became treacherous and could really punish you. High sides outta nowhere, and headshake at the worst possible moment. But, on the pipe and hauling they were some serious moto weapons. Mine was almost all Pro-Circuit,.. wicked. If you needed to back off it was best to take a break. 2013 PALA RACEWAY Lazy Sunday 50+ Expert Spring Series and Summer Series Champion. Won them both on my 03/04RM250. Braaaaahp!
I bought a 96’ YZ 125 and yes it did feel like a small 250 that thing ripped, neat little bike. First bike a ever put a top in on and I never did figure out what I did wrong but it never had the bottom end that it had before I put a top end in it LOL
Another fun shootout Tony✌️ how cool you had both the new RM 125 and 250. 1996 was a big year for me, I bought my first dirtbike, a 1981 CR 80. I also bought my first Mx magazine, september 1996 Motocross action😊 In 1997 I switched to a CR 125-92, loved that bike so fast, good looking and reliable. My next bike was a KX 125-98, great suspension but way slower, just a burst in the midrange. After having a big open bike for 20 years, I miss a screaming light 125😊 I really like the look of the navy blue 1996-97 YZ.
RM was the cheapest of the 4 too if I'm correct. I have the 1998 model, last year with the conventional fork & 1st year with their newly internal water pump. All they really needed to be at the top was Hinson clutch basket with atf oil + full Fmf exhaust.
I owned a 96 cr125 brand new. It would literally shut off in whoop sections. Some blamed the jetting some blamed the carb itself. I have read about it doing this in some magazines but no one ever had a definite answer as to what it was because if not for that I loved that bike. But that was to big of a problem to keep it. Sold it went Yamaha and never had a problem and never looked back. I miss those days every day. Awesome bikes.
You Sir have createad a perfect time machine to jog the ole memory banks of a time i will never forget where did the years go ..... btw Honda for the win 👍 Please please do 1991

Loved my ‘96 RM, was so unique with the big bore conventional forks. Felt super planted
Great video. Nothing more fun to ride than a 125cc 2 stroke.
One of my favorite years in motorcycle history. Thank you!
Yes! I bought a brand new 96 YZ125 in 96 when I was 16. The year before I had bought a 95 YZ80.
The RM's during that 96'-97' period were quite good. Very much enjoyed both the 125 & 250.

HondaCR 500 R 86-88 Beautiful 2Stroke Monsters...
Those conventional forks on the '96 RM's were the best forks I ever rode. My yam's SSS was a very close 2nd
I loved the throw back style forks. Much better looking than USD forks.
Great video! I had a 1996 CR125 and that bike screams, my fav 125 2-stroke.
Awesome video been waiting on this one.

Thanks for another awesome blast from the past! Was the 97 kx125 any better?
Had 96" KX125!!! Fast AF, BUT unstable at highspeed!!
