Another miss opportunity from Canon SU, this would’ve added a whole new depth to White’s character by introducing a character who’s different from the 4 diamonds of homeworld
Would she be the one who was supposed to be tha new diamond but she was made from the shade spectrum so she was cast aside for being made of shadow instead on hardlight like all the other gems that means whites powers to control light would only give black diamond more power because black holes consume light. So she could be part of the crystal gems because white flung her to earth, and she thought since the cluster was there she could parish along with earth but the she meets Steven and the others after the cluster events, a huge crater could be sitting near the temple in the sand with an odd bubble around the gem this gem is so dark looking it looks like it's making the bubble lose color, then in cartoon fashion the bubble pops before the gems touch it, the gems radiates a black aura and the gem takes shape in the form of a black diamond and we get a sob story about how she was defective, but too hard to get rid of. Steven asks why she is defective, black diamond says that "white diamond made her in the hopes of a new diamond that used light energy like all the gems on home world but that she only appeared in shades of black and grey, a gem that can't have light as an energy source is a defect that mist be destroyed but know matter how much white tried she couldn't get rid of me" Steven then treats her with kindness the first ounce of kindness in her life and she suddenly begins to glow in dark versions of pink and red showing that she does have light in her but she can show it like other gems Steven remarks that she is glowing a pretty shade of crimson red. And we are left with a cliff hanger.
