I do really really love a bridge. For trains, cars or boats or humans or even animals. The engineering is just good. Well done us. Trips out to find new parts is just like being a teenager again with a Mk1 Fiesta
I like egg Mayo with diced Shallot for sarnies. I am Not a 6 speed gearbox fan, better off with a higher 5th gear. Nice vehicles in your friends shed, love the Herald grille. Excellent re the Tesco driver
Lovely Jubbly, best motorway in the UK the M62 because it takes you to beautiful Yorkshire. A tip, get a good hosepipe or pressure washer up those wheel arches and get rid of all that salt if you're going to keep the car Paul.
My mother claims that she got their Montego turbo diesel upto 130mph on the M62. It was an early one so it did have a very tall top gear (I think theoretically they were faster in 4th than 5th), and it was cup final day. She says that she got it upto speed on a downhill section but then when it flattened out it maintained the speed for quite some time.
Loving what you're doing with the 420 GSi, Paul. If I lived anywhere near you, then I'd be very glad to come and lend you a hand with it. Sadly, I'm about four hours North of you in Scotland.
Scammonden Bridge is quite possibly the best motorway bridge. If you’re going to be stuck in traffic it may as well be where you can see the best bridge. Actually I don’t know if it’s the best bridge, maybe the Clifton Suspension Bridge, the Humber Bridge or the Ironbridge bridge in Ironbridge would have a stronger claim to being the best bridge. Or Tower Bridge or Hebden Bridge. And that’s just in the UK, the Millau suspension bridge in France has to be a contender for best overall bridge. I’m also a big fan of the railway bridge over the Mawddach estuary in Barmouth. But that’s not a motorway bridge so offers no threat to Scammonden Bridge. I have a question. RUclips suggested I watch one of your old videos again, the Last of the Summer Wine episode where you, Allegroman and a lady called Matthew went t’Yorkshire t’collect Barney t’barn find R8. How is Barney the barn find R8? Also estate cars are a bit loud and boomy with the seats down and no parcel shelf. If you try again in ‘passenger mode’ I bet it would be loads better.
I'd go for the 'Seven Mile Bridge' in Florida Keys as the best one. I didn't get stuck in a jam there though. They must have had a fair few committee meetings to come up with that name! 😁
I completely forget about the Golden Gate Bridge, you reminded me Dick with the Seven Mile Bridge. The Golden Gate Bridge is a cool bridge, but not without it’s faults. The first time I set foot in the US of A was in San Francisco and the first thing I did with my rented Dodge was drive over the Golden Gate Bridge. Then I turned around to go back to find our hotel only to discover it’s a toll bridge heading from Oakland into San Fran and I didn’t have any dollar dollar as I’d been in the country less than 2 hours. I did my best Hugh Grant and the lovely lady in the toll booth let me go. I wonder how long the seven mile bridge is in proper miles?
I couldn't live without cruise control; once you have a car with cruise control you cannot live without it. Either you are too slow or much too fast. That, and not wanting to attract attention by the police because you really shouldn't be driving. Brett is a proper estate, better than the impractical CUV/SUV craze that is too much vehicle and not enough room to haul "stuff".
SUVs annoy me. You pay more money for a heavier, less aerodynamic car, with a higher centre of gravity, so you get worse fuel economy and it'll be worse to drive. As far as I can tell there are no positives. You don't get any more space than a hatchback or estate, and now that everybody has them you don't even get the better view of the road.
@@davidmarshall6538 You could keep your eye out for a nice low mileage example. Just explain to her that the car is cheap, parts are cheap, they're easy to work on, and if you come to sell it in a few years, you'll probably make a profit!
A very eventful day least you have some parts now 😊.👍
You've got to keep Alfie! Agreed💯👍
Awesome! looking forward to more on the GSi..........
I do miss the my Rover, Actually I do Miss the Tea shelf😊 I don't want another Rover.. Stop watching him then,, No because I enjoy it😊
Your friend had some cool stuff in his garage

What a glorious first long trip. I can’t wait for it to be all fixed up and gleaming.
All this talk of egg mayo sarnies is making me hungry.

Are you doing your heartfelt live tonight
Tomorrow night I will be

I had that same episode recommended to me yesterday!
I did also wonder what's happened to the car.

@@Dick-Dastardly I've done the 7-mile Bridge 🌉. It's very Bridge-like👀.

What did they call Ironbridge (the place) before Ironbridge Bridge (the bridge) was erected? Just curious 🤔

@@ryanwilliams6526 I totally agree!
Couldn't agree more about SUVs. If they were still being made, I'd try to convince my mrs to get a 45. Maybe in midnight blue or British racing green.
