      MsCynet that is so CUTE 🥰❤️🥰❤️ wish I could take the credit for her name but her original owners in Scotland named her Pippa and “Pitch Perfect” is her registered show name which fits her perfectly because she sings. However. Pippa only sings to the ones she really loves. Enjoy your Pippa. Cavaliers are simply the most amazing dogs you will ever have and try not to let those eyes get away with everything.

      How old was your girl when she had her litter? I had a situation set up before covid to breed my 6.5 year old (following the mvd protocol) but sadly it fell through due to the circumstances. How long is too long to wait? It's near impossible to get any response back, understandably so since everyone has much to deal with but I'm getting so worried that time will be up.

      @@TheHypnag0g222 I’m really not an expert. I would check with her vet but I’m going to tell you something I have learned first hand with all my Cavaliers. All but one of my 17 came from Europe, Germany, Scotland, 8 came from 2 Girls breed with 2 of my Boys, and 1 Girl I bought at a Boutique Pet Store {She passed away before her 4th Birthday}. My Original 3 Lived till 12 & 13 two ending up with enlarged hearts and one going paralyzed in his back legs. Several of them have had seizures. My Boy from Scotland who is impeccable breed has a 5/6 enlarged heart at 9 years old and my Pippa from Scotland who has even better breading now has 3/6. So as the Vet says it happens. I just feed them well. Give them more love then you could ever imagine but what I receive in return is life saving and beyond words.

    I'm an ECC veterinary surgeon, great video. Would be really interested to know and if you were happy to share your recipe for your home made formula? I have many clients ringing for advice out of hours that refuse to come and pick up our formula due to expense. However I get concerned that their newborn litters are then being denied growing goodness! Be wonderful if I could pass on the recipe for a home made formula so I can at least know I've done my best for any owners who refuse to come in because of financial concerns.

      I use a formula that was developed by Myra Savant Harris, one of our Cavalier breeders who is generally recognized as an expert in neo-natal care. Here is her formula:
      Ingredients:
      One can of evaporated goat’s milk, undiluted (You can substitute evaporated cow’s milk if you can’t find the goat’s milk.)
      One cup of full fat yogurt (the fattiest and freshest you can find)
      2 raw egg yolks (don’t worry about the raw eggs)
      1/3 cup of freshly made, strong liver broth made from boiling a piece of liver in one cup of water and then reducing the water to 1/3. You can substitute fresh beef broth if you just can’t tolerate the smell of liver, but the liver is much better. Don’t eliminate the broth.
      1 Tablespoon of Virgin Olive Oil (you can use mayonnaise if you like, but remember it is acid based). Use 2 tablespoons to make this formula for kitties.
      1 teaspoon of karo or corn syrup.
      1 dropper full of baby vitamin that doesn’t contain iron.
      Directions:
      Place it all in a blender, blend then pour into ice cube trays and freeze. Once frozen, store the ice cubes in a plastic bag and take out how many you need for a feeding; thaw and warm to about 100 degrees. It’s good in the freezer for a full year. If you are going to use this for bottle feeding or Adele’s sponge feeding technique, you may need to thin it with a little bit of pedialyte.
      The advantage of this formula is that it has been formulated to contain 3-4 times the calorie content of breast milk. Mother’s milk has 3-4 calories per cc. This formula has 10-12 calories per cc. The reason for using the evap milk without diluting is to get extra calories, same with the full fat yogurt and the olive oil. It is all about calories. Your puppy will gain weight on this formula beginning about 48 hours after beginning to feed the formula. Feed the puppy one cc (a ml is identical to a cc) of formula for every ounce of body weight every 3-4 hours or when crying from hunger. Self-regulated bottle feeders may eat more at every feeding and want to eat less often. This is fine too.
      Commercial formulas try to match the caloric intake of breast milk, but we are unable to match the time that a puppy spends nursing from its mother unless we are tubing about 18 hours a day. So the best way to insure that the hand reared puppy gains weight as it would with mom is to increase the caloric intake. That has been the goal of the formula from the beginning. The liver water adds in important amino acids that your puppy needs for growth and health of the eyes. This formula will stabilize blood sugar nicely and works little miracles for the GI system. Most breeders see soft formed stool with no diarrhea after a few feedings. You can use it on all ages of puppies from immediately after birth to old age.

      So sorry to hear about the mother.
      The best way to feed a newborn is by tube feeding, but it's best done with the supervision of a breeder who has done it before. If not done properly, it could kill the pup. Here's a video done by a friend of mine on tube feeding: ruclips.net/video/Z2sdSSmbDCw/видео.html
      If the puppy is nursing OK on his own, you can use my syringe technique. Follow the procedure on this video: ruclips.net/video/JrvxGIDMGUM/видео.html

    Is it necessary to feed 1 day puppy as they are not able to have their own

    • @chaskat35
      @chaskat35  3 года назад

      Very young puppies are fed only if they are too weak or too small to nurse on their own. We can tell which ones they are, because we check their weight every day, and notice when they are not gaining as they should. The goal is to get them strong enough to get their total nutrition from nursing, and it usually works.

    Hi! Thank you for posting! I need assistance getting my 1 week old caviled who has not yet hit 6ounces.. Where did you get your nipple and what ingredients do you use for your formula? How often do you supplement? Thanks so much!

    • @chaskat35
      @chaskat35  Год назад +1

      I am copying the recipe for the formula at the bottom of this reply. It also gives information on how much to feed, and how often.
      When I came up with this feeding method, nipples were not readily available, so I found bottle feeders in a pet shop called Four Paws Pet Nurser. I used only the nipples, because they fit a Leur tip syringe exactly. Today, there are even nicer nipples available, but the Four Paws ones still work great. You'll find even more details on this video: ruclips.net/video/JrvxGIDMGUM/видео.html.
      The fact that your puppy is not yet 6 ounces is not necessarily a problem - the important thing is that you weigh the puppy every day, and that he gains weight regularly. Also let him nurse from the mother, because the whole idea of syringe feeding is to develop strength to allow him to nurse on his own.
      Here is the formula recipe:
      Ingredients:
      One can of evaporated goat’s milk, undiluted (You can substitute evaporated cow’s milk if you can’t find the goat’s milk.)
      One cup of full fat yogurt (the fattiest and freshest you can find)
