I am from Assam but belonged to the generation that didn't hear him live. But as I listen to his archive of songs I must say how terribly the state misses his song, songs that were not confined by straitjackets of linguistic chauvinism, songs where he owned up the Brahmaputra no less emphatically than the Ganga, songs that could talk about the Volga; songs that were sung in bengali, where bengali was as much his as Assamese were; unlike today: Bhupen da embodies a Tagore like nationalism- extremely wide, full of diversity, very close to its people and land, but free of bigotry and chauvinism.
Truly a legendary singer. His voice is timeless, carrying emotion and depth like no other , inspiring generations with his music. Every note of his leaves an indelible imprint on the audience.🙏🙏

During his demise i was 11 so couldn't understand why people were saddened but now i can feel the loss. ..his voice is so heartwarming and now i listen his songs also my sister had recorded many songs with him
