The discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb in 1922 was one of the greatest archaeological finds in history. The tomb remained untouched for more than 3,000 years, hiding an incredible amount of treasures and artifacts that gave insight into the ancient Egyptian way of life and the power of the pharaoh.
Here are some of the highlights of what was found in Tutankhamun's tomb:
Tutankhamun's golden death mask, this stunning mask is made of 11 kilograms of solid gold and depicts the pharaoh's face. It is one of the most famous and iconic ancient Egyptian artefacts.
Tutankhamun's body is buried in a series of interlocking golden sarcophagi, the innermost of which is made of solid 110.4 kilograms of gold.
The tomb was filled with impressive jewellery and gems, including gold bracelets, necklaces, rings and pectorals.
Everyday objects such as chairs, beds, toys and chariots were also found in the tomb, giving an insight into the non-royal aspects of Tutankhamun's life.
The canopic jars were a set of four vessels that held Tutankhamun's internal organs. These vessels were made of alabaster and decorated with lids depicting gods.
The mummy of Tutankhamun himself was also in the tomb, providing valuable information about the pharaoh's life and health.
These are just a few of the many thousands of objects found in Tutankhamun's tomb. The discovery revolutionized our knowledge of ancient Egypt and continues to fascinate the world with its richness and mystery.
