    *** I mention using TAB to switch to 'category select mode' but the default key for that was changed to 't'. When that default key change was made awhile back I immediately swapped it back to 'TAB' in my own settings and forgot to mention it in the video. ***

    Vorm is revisiting his roots.
    I've been flirting with the idea of revisiting CDDA again rather than just watching LP's. I've been out of the game for almost 2 years now, so every tutorial appeals to me right now. I'm sure it will be a wild ride.

      The game has officially become monstrously complex, lol. It's still really fun though. I definitely can still burn an entire day off work without noticing.

      Yes. I started playing again after watching the last tip video from Vorm. But it's been my go-to game for years. Whenever I get a bit bored with everything else I'm playing - or I just don't have the ambition for the other complicated games I play - I can always mess around in CDDA.

    Those are nice but there's also the pickup items menu. When unloading those ammo cans you can use the filter option "/" to filter by say "c:ammo -box" to only pick up the actual rounds.

    These tips are great, Vorm. Thanks! I always learn new things. The only problem is trying to remember them all. Heh, heh.
    And yeah, the last time I unloaded a backpack full of food, it took all of the food out of the _sealed containers_ inside the backpack, too. _Not_ what I wanted! Apparently, that will still happen if I use your zone method of unloading, but not if I use that new unload command? That's very good to know. Thanks again!

    Love this information. I don't play experimental, but one thing that would be nice (unless it's there and I'm just missing it) would be category (or custom) sorting within say, backpacks and cargo spaces. Consolidating items to a single container, like all of my cotton balls to a single bag, would also be a nice subject to visit.

    I need about the (A) manager zone for a static zone in the zone manager but I had no idea personal followed you around. This is amazing for those M2A2 containers and stuff. Thank you as always for the great videos!

    "imagine trying to unload these by hand" haha yeah.... imagine :(

    I'd really like a "Personal Recipe", for the reverse sort of thing. "1x IFAK + 10x codeine + 20x alc wipe + 5 Prussian Blue + ..." -> "Shrike's First Aid Kit". It wouldn't need to be overwhelmingly complex to code. A hotkey on the 'view contents of container/pickup" to do "Set current *current* contents to default for this container", and then a "Load/Save Container Settings"....

    • @shrikedecil
      @shrikedecil 2 года назад

      @@itzstone Sure. But there's a lot of fiddly details that make it not actually work the way one might think. After setting the "whitelist" for each and every thing I want to 'EDC' in my medkit, you find somewhere with 20 bandages, and suddenly your IFAK is way, WAY overpacked for edc. Instead of the ten-real-minute-task of dumping specific extra gear. I'd like to "un load all" + "Personal Recipe: Medkit" -> like 20 seconds realtime (even if it takes some insane half-hour or whatever of game time).
      A recipe is a simple JSON file, I can think of plenty of other uses if there was an *in game* method of making one.

    • @shrikedecil
      @shrikedecil 2 года назад

      @@itzstone And then there's the "flexible bag can't take one more adhesive bandage... because the XYZ it's inside is full". You have (or had) to wield/wear flexible bags to keep adding stuff. There's a lot of coding to make what I'm talking about work properly with a bag's priorities, fill list, etc.
      Or. It could be a short "Allow user added recipe". sort of thing. Which is a total workaround, but ... it would work.

    • @shrikedecil
      @shrikedecil 2 года назад

      I suppose "Set whitelist from current loadout" would be an easy intermediate thing too. Another letter on the set item priorities/whitelists page, not too many steps.

    Is it possible to prevent containers from being unloaded in an Unload Zone? I have a survival kit that I throw all my useful stuff into, then when I get back from looting I throw all the stuff in the zone using "," and unload + sort. This causes my character to unload the survival kit and sort its contents, even when I turn off auto unload in the pocket settings. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

    • @Vormithrax
      @Vormithrax  2 года назад +2

      Why not just stop dropping the survival kit? 'favorite' that item and it won't be included in the "," mass dump.

    Just had an idea while thinking about downloading the game and replaying it after a few years. If it's possible it would be cool to have a google drive location to download your settings and maybe even some of your challenge saves. It just now popped into my head, so I haven't really fully thought it through. Maybe it's a stupid idea.

      What I'd like to see sometime (but not enough to learn how to make this happen myself, admittedly) is for the option to play where you live. I just mean the map, basically. If the game could take that info from Google maps, so you could start where you actually live, that would be fun, don't you think?
      As it is, after I've been playing CDDA a lot, I tend to look around my neighborhood a lot differently. What buildings could I loot? Where is a house with multiple floors, where I could get above the fray? How could I best break pursuit? And maybe I should grab that plastic bag, blowing in the wind? Might come in handy.

  • @Xearrik

    Wait, it took over an hour to unload that container! I think they should take a second look at the container unloading feature lol.
    Edit: I rewatched and it took 20+ minutes. My bad. That's still a huge amount of time though.
    Edit2: Oh, I see. That's a lot of clips and boxes. That still seems like a long time though. Hmm just had an idea for a character ability. Fast hands. Anything that requires manipulating things with your hands takes less time. That could include removing clothing items maybe.

    • @Vormithrax
      @Vormithrax  2 года назад +2

      Auto functions don't save character time, just keypresses. the character still has to go through all the motions, you just don't have to control it yourself. It would take the same amount of in-game time if you did it manually instead of using the auto feature.

    • @Xearrik
      @Xearrik 2 года назад

      @@Vormithrax Yep, I sort of figured that out. You replied before I did all the edits. Thanks though. I think a fast hands perk would be cool for stuff like this.

      You should make that an ability! There's already a similar trait that does the exact opposite (unorganized or clumsy or something like that) so it shouldn't be hard to reverse engineer it

    ... i want your channel to do well, but it wont do well if it takes you 9 minutes to explain a combination of keys to press.
    Make several shorter videos... for your own sake

      I felt the same way but then I realized it was because I was already aggravated at the prospect of unloading a couple hundred bags of salt one at a time, not finding any answers online, and watching this video without any idea, at first, if it would actually help. Once I got the answer I calmed down lol.

      Seems you have no clue about the pedagogy of teaching/ explaining stuff, as it's key goal is NOT to be as quick as possible, but understandable for everyone.
