    I think quinta didn't have a bad experience because she treated the experience like the 9 to 5 job it was and didn't give all her best ideas to the company. She worked, earned the living she needed to grow and moved on.

    I watched a lot of "Why I left Buzzfeed" videos. It seems like that the only two negative reasons why people left Buzzfeed are that they couldn't own what they've created and that they had no control over how the projects they were working on headed towards. But those things happen quite usually in any industries that are remotely related to creativity. I've worked in the PR/Marketing/Advertising industry for many years. It's the norm that as a creator/copywriter, you have to listen to your boss and clients based on what they want, when your ideas parallel with theirs. Also, whatever you wrote or created at your job, the copyright is owned by the company not you.

    • @virg0_lem0nade
      @virg0_lem0nade 3 года назад +9

      @Pigga Lover ---- no, those channels are telling the truth about why BuzzFeed was an awful and manipulative place to work. then BuzzFeed saw that those videos were getting lots of views and did what BF does best: stole the idea. except their version of it includes lots and lots lying and making it sound like BuzzFeed was such a great place to work, and leaves out all of the parts about how it is actually a horrible environment that everyone wants to leave. LOL.

    • @virg0_lem0nade
      @virg0_lem0nade 3 года назад +3

      @Pigga Lover --- BuzzFeed is the one who capitalized off of them in the first place and took advantage of them. BF has absolutely no original content, at all. You think that since theft is common that makes it ok to steal?

      there's a huuuuuge middle ground between being "slaves", versus working for a company that gives you an equitable share of the revenue they're making off of you, LOL. getting paid 200 bucks to eat Doritos only sounds like a good deal until you realize the actual facts: that they're profiting off of her image, in total perpetuity, to the tune of tens of thousands of dollars.
      that's the entire scheme of manipulative companies like this: they offer a few fun-sounding perks to people who are trying to break into the industry and tell them exactly the lie that you're repeating: "you couldn't have made it anywhere without us!!"

    • @theflutefreak
      @theflutefreak 3 года назад +1

      because it's such a cash grab. they know that when prominent buzzfeed workers leave they tend to make a video about it, and that video makes a lot of money, and they want that money and control over their PR. feels crappy because it's keeping the creator from getting the money themselves and from speaking their own mind

As Quinta sais internet was making it big that it needed to be translated to TV as well. The reruns and same stories, with no representation weren't keeping up with the rest of us who lives online. Most of all I love the respect that BuzzFeed is giving a little back to the people who gave all their hard work with this "why I left BuzzFeed"

      @@pyreworks5210 Exactly. Buzzfeed is a business. Some of these "Why I Left Buzzfeed" videos are kind of ridiculous because these people are complaining about the terms in the contracts that they signed. They didn't realize that the content that they created belonged to the company and not them. But that's exactly what they agreed to. They're only mad because they didn't realize they would become so successful and popular while at Buzzfeed and would only receive a fixed salary.

    • @poralitical
      @poralitical 3 года назад +24

      @@chasef89 actually what most of them complained about was being producers, writers, and talent for their own content but having no real creative control or ownership. Did they agree to it? Yes, but I'm sure it was heavily implied to them that it was just a technicality, because they all seemed to be shocked the first time their employer threatened them with "well we own this and you don't so......" Also, becuase it's rare for people who control THAT many aspects of it to not have any stake in it. Usually they'd be working on teams where there's be no expectation of getting partial rights because it's not really *yours*, it's a collaborative effort.
      I've also heard they didn't a cut of their own merch, which is super unusual. If they were working as reporters or producers of whatever, sure. But it's pretty rare for people to have merchandise with their own face on it and then be told they don't get any of it.
      Their pretty notorious for a toxic overbearing work environment that has left then hemorrhaging staff for years. You want to say that's them being difficult and wanting special treatment, but the fact that they are ALL leaving buzzfeed within the first couple years heavily implies that it's stopped being a coincidence at some point.
      It's especially bad becuase they work as RUclips content creators. It's not like being an animator at a studio where you have to have a major distributor behind you to produce content. Because branching off is so easy, it's on BuzzFeed to incentivize them not to leave. That's capitalism baby.
