New Mack LR / McNeilus Rear Loader Garbage Truck

- Here's one of Unity Disposal's new trucks collecting trash in a neighborhood previously serviced by Potomac Disposal. After many of the county refuse and recycle contracts went up for bid, many haulers were shifted around. Some haulers won new contracts, requiring new trucks to service them. Unity bought a few Macks (LR, Granite) to service their new contracts and replace their aging fleet of Peterbilts. This truck is sporting Unity's new paint scheme, a nice break from the majority of the county's dark blue trucks.

0:43 This is how Garbage man break their backs. Good thing the trucks at Ecology have the cart tippers so this way the workers don't break their spines. This is just my opinion.
It's odd they didn't install tippers on the brand new truck.
Nice job. I love the LR model. My Republic got 2 new LR Labires last summer. Also when I got to DE WM has an LR. I always enjoy filming LR trucks.
Me too! I'm glad that I found this, as it is one of the first Mack LR's around here. Not even WM has any!
No cart tipper or container tipper. If there’s no R locks then I’m assuming no chains either for commercial containers. Makes for a very long day of lifting toters with eventual shoulder injuries.

Qukslvr I’m amazed that in this day in age they are still using rear-end loaders on residential routes, at my yard we have nothing but front-end loaders with curratto buckets.
@@ludah99 to be honest, you just can't beat a rear loader. They can be used for just about anything dealing with garbage and demolition and are more dependable bodies.
ThaThunderStorm they definitely are better for dealing with bulk items and construction materials, but I’ve used both and I’ll take a front-end loader vs rear for a residential route any day, we can’t double side like there doing in this video.

I wonder why they couldn’t spend a few extra dollars and put one cart tipper on this truck
The county doesn't require cart tippers for yard trim and trash trucks. Its all hauler choice. The routes are designed to be manual, so the only need for a cart tipper would be for the toters.

@@okko16 Well at least Ecology Services has tippers in the back off there trucks. So there better than the UDR trucks.
Just because it’s a manual route doesn’t mean they can’t have a tipper on the truck, they might not have a lot of toters on the route but I’m sure they would appreciate having it for the few they have.
Is this company and Unity Southern Environmental one in the same? I can't find Unity Southern's website anymore, and the UDR website is very basic with little info on it.
Yes they are the same company. They exchange carts and trucks from time to time. We've had one of their leach Alphas and some of their lime carts over here.
