YOU get it. The DW Design Series line IS the best sounding DW kit they offer. Alllllll of those other kits are are really just nice looking furniture. I have the 4 piece of this kit with a custom 18” DW Acrylic Gong Drum , but I’m going to get this kit to expand my options. Why not?! You Sir, have great taste in an amazing sounding drumkit!
DW is an amazing company. I have a 5 piece collectors series. The drums feel so good to play. Even this acrylic kit sounds amazing to me and I'm not even into acrylic drums!
Not gonna lie, when I read the title, my first thought was "Oh cripes, they made a kit out of glass? That's no bueno." Glad I was wrong. Great sounding kit!
@@ARGCDG the ONLY maintenance I've had to do is windex my finger prints off lol. Nothing too major. They stay in tune very well. I live in Alaska so to combat the extreme cold when I travel I use insulated cases because I don't want them cracking.
Nice review showcasing all of the features and sounds of this kit. The cymbal mentions at the end were great too. That china on the right sounds sweet! Sweetwater! lol I've been waiting for this shell pack to come in stock... and still waiting.
Awesome video! Nick does a great job showing off all of the drums and all of the aspects of what's going into the current video (the whole setup)! I can't afford a 4th drum kit right now 😅😅😅 But if I could, this one would be one I would SERIOUSLY consider!
Always amazed by your display of your techniques! Where did you study all these rudiments? And a very good description of the technical aspect of microphones and processing. You never disappoint. Thanks
DW prices have shot up considerably. I'm glad I bought mine years ago. Their snares have become outrageous as well. It will be interesting to see how sales are in the comming years.
Are these also prone to hairline cracks? I know Pearl's crystal beats from a few years ago were still having that issue. spiderweb cracks around floor tom mount holes. Since acrylic cannot dent, they just form hairline / spiderweb cracks if being hit, say if you have it in a drumbag but your buddy lay it down sideways on the floor hard.
Are the shells made by DW? I have assumed all the drum companies buy in shells because it’s not worth tooling up for these fairly limited production kits.
I think they do? Because you can order custom acrylics from them, but the shells are definitely made by another’s company. I forget the name? I want to say RCI because they make some pretty bad ass colors and designs!
The Tom microphones alone are $3000. I know they’re promoting the DW kit. I think prices for music retail is insane! I think sales will plummet in the future..
Debatable, they’ve always been the same for a long time. To think they’d drop is not gonna happen, it’s all going to increase in price though, hopefully things do change but music gear has always been super costly, cause it’s creativity, they don’t want you to explore your creative side.
I welcome you ! And you could not make a video with the tuning on the mechanical Dual tuner ! Or Tama, your tuning sounds great ! well, the game is at the highest level !
That sound is not "Invisible." Music has really "Turned My Life Around." I'm glad they used a real drummer, instead of a "Snake Oil Salesman." "Mercy," that sounds good. Music is "In My Bones." It's definitely "Not My Time To Say Goodbye" to music.
I've never understood people saying that a drum is "14 by 16". Why would you not say the diameter first? Saying 14 first to me means that I need to by a 14" drumhead.
I guess what I'm shocked by is the super intense hi cost increase since covid hit. I tried buying 1 19 in Zildjian A custom crash recently. After tax the price was 400 dollars. That crash is not worth more than 250....come on people...
My salesperson at Sweetwater mentioned a few months ago that their would be a increase in price across the board. I ordered a DW snare before the increase.
That is the nature of the drumset. That’s part of the voice of the whole thing. You have to tune and deal with the interaction on the frequencies. In the end the only one noticing will be yourself

Y’all do it the best HANDS DOWN!!!
*squeals in Vistalite*
Amazing tone and look..can nic do the dw low pro assessment?!!!
I’m glad DW is expanding their design series!
The tones sound even and consistent. NOT brittle or hollow. I'd get this kit in a second.
Wow.... This is actually DW's best sounding kit I've heard so far. Design, AND acrylic! good lord! :D

Nick always delivers the goods
I've got the Design in piano black and love it. Can not beat the sound for the money. Bass drum is a monster. One of the best I've ever heard.
My first drum kit was a blue Ludwig vestalite 5pc in '83. I ❤️ this DW kit!
DW is an amazing company. I have a 5 piece collectors series. The drums feel so good to play. Even this acrylic kit sounds amazing to me and I'm not even into acrylic drums!
Beautiful Drum Kit ! Watching Nick Rock Out is just another layer of how phenomenal that kit truly sounds 🤘🏼🔥🤘🏼🔥🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁
As always Nick a great detailed demonstration! Those DW Acrylic
Seamless Drum Shells (key feature) look & sound amazing!
This kit sounds fantastic! I think it's the first acrylic kit I actually liked the sound of.
Especially that snare. You can do ALOT of work with that thing.
Usually not a fan of DW or Acrylic drums, but these sounded great!
Nick, you are a gifted drummer!!
@@robertdimartino5794 Gifted is a fact. You couldn't even move your pinky finger if it weren't for God. He gets the glory, not us. Have a great day!
if you did a video of Nick playing boxes I would watch it. Fantastic spokesmen
I concur sir!! Lol
Looks like I'm gonna be working some extra overtime for that 8 piece!! Beautiful drums, both sound and looks!
Hope you did it and got one, so worth it.
I’m actually shocked. I normally hate the sound of acrylic drums but these sound friggin awesome.
Nick deserves to be featured in Drumeo.
He shines by himself. Look for Spock’s Beard to have a great drumming experience.
THIS is how you demo drums.
I usually don't care for that generic DW sound, but these sound way better than the normal DW wood drumkit!
Dw generic 😂😂😂😂😂sound 😂😂😂😂
This is such a sweet drum set. I love the 7 piece look
Absolutely beautiful kit!!!
Not gonna lie, when I read the title, my first thought was "Oh cripes, they made a kit out of glass? That's no bueno." Glad I was wrong. Great sounding kit!
I love my design series kit, I’m rocking the Midnight Satan Blue one that was limited edition but these are sexy kits all around. Love DW.
I have the Sea Glass DW Design Series Acrylic kit. I absolutely LOVE the sound. It sounds huge on any stage!
I have the Chad Smith signature acrylic snare. Sweet drum. Loud dry open!!!
I’m eyeing up the same kit. Are these durable or do they require a lot of maintenance ?

0:47 that face 😂 classic Nick, gotta love him!
Nick is a bad dude!
LETS GO!! LOVE SWEETWATER!! What a gorgeous kit!!
-Indiana Love & Respect!! 💯 🔥
This kit is literally perfect sounding. I wish I knew what mics were used
"great sustain that doesn't last too long." FINALLY!
Looks and sounds amazing😍

I wish they had this kit in stock!

I dgaf about the kit. I am here just for the best drum lesson you can get online. Never get tired of Mr. DiVirgilio.
Such a beautiful set. 🔥🔥🔥
That snare 👌👌👌
Surprising sound!
Is DW still getting their acrylic shells from RCI Starlite?
DW prices have shot up considerably. I'm glad I bought mine years ago. Their snares have become outrageous as well. It will be interesting to see how sales are in the comming years.
I think the sales will drop because people on average can’t the high prices.
All high-end kids are ridiculous. Have you seen the price of the tama star? The price for these are more than reasonable
very nice kit, looks awesome.
Are these also prone to hairline cracks?

Since acrylic cannot dent, they just form hairline / spiderweb cracks if being hit, say if you have it in a drumbag but your buddy lay it down sideways on the floor hard.
I can tell he was just ecstatic to play this 😂

True pitch rods actually change the pitch Less than standard tuning rods i believe. Great video as always
I love Nick's playing for all the Sweetwater videos, but I was thinking the same thing about the True Pitch tuning rods.
Simply lovely
The Tom microphones alone are $3000. I know they’re promoting the DW kit. I think prices for music retail is insane! I think sales will plummet in the future..
To be fair I’d rather hear it through those DPA’s than a heavily pre-EQ’d mic
The world is more expensive now Greg. Look at the prices of new cars now vs 30 years ago. Homes. Gas. Everything.
Debatable, they’ve always been the same for a long time.
To think they’d drop is not gonna happen, it’s all going to increase in price though, hopefully things do change but music gear has always been super costly, cause it’s creativity, they don’t want you to explore your creative side.
Ead10
I wish they offered more sizes (shallower toms, smaller bass drums).
I neeeeed it!
I wish they would sell these in a 13/16/22 set
I just have been thinking about guitarists discussing their favourite "magic" tone-woods. Made me smile.
:)
Outstanding job Nick...were the shells done by RCI?
Good to know it isn't just me that can NOT get rid of a bit of snare buzz when hitting acrylics.
Love these
I might cop this set lol
😍😍🔥clean and hot kit
They sound great, the price ain't bad either
Nick is like a mix of Ray Romano and Jon Lovitz.
I can't unsee this now
I welcome you ! And you could not make a video with the tuning on the mechanical Dual tuner ! Or Tama, your tuning sounds great ! well, the game is at the highest level !
I wonder how this drum set feels

It’s one where you don’t have to ask yourself “Where’s the Passion”.
I've never understood people saying that a drum is "14 by 16". Why would you not say the diameter first? Saying 14 first to me means that I need to by a 14" drumhead.
Because back in the "old days" we always said the shell x diameter, not the diameter x shell. Somewhere along the line somebody f**ked it all up.
I guess what I'm shocked by is the super intense hi cost increase since covid hit.
I tried buying 1 19 in Zildjian A custom crash recently. After tax the price was 400 dollars. That crash is not worth more than 250....come on people...
100% agree I buy used on Reverb.
Sabian is my answer to that problem. Check out their vids on the factory
My salesperson at Sweetwater mentioned a few months ago that their would be a increase in price across the board. I ordered a DW snare before the increase.
Every time i hear STM I think of the metro system in Montreal lol
Send me this drum kit please please
I almost commented that that drum set was smoking, but I then decided better.
sweetwater is amazing but it would be nothing without nick just saying.
Modern day warrior, mean mean stride
made from petrol and coal, not polar bear friendly, but for looks the circles sound okay
Noice!
I hate how I can hear the snare buzz when you hit the toms, great kit and great video though
That is the nature of the drumset. That’s part of the voice of the whole thing. You have to tune and deal with the interaction on the frequencies. In the end the only one noticing will be yourself
@@PabloJ1968 not if you tune the toms, it will stop the snare buzz
@@JT-pr6gr cool.
Thats some Steve Gadd style there at 9:30
Nick could sell a book of matches to Satan
There is no other drum company that makes drums that are builtor sound better at any price point
Seinfeld?
dammit, I thought it was going to be actual glass. >:(
Hogwash. Dee doublw U never does anything original .The prices are B.S. Don't be Fooled again...
Yowwww
I wanna smoke a blunt with this guy
Tama acrylic drums sound much better!!!
Dw sounds like garbage and is outrageously overpriced…buy a Mapex Saturn evolution!
DW's design series drums are great, I don't know what you're talking about. Play a set and you'll be surprised!
😂
Maypex😂😂😂😂
The Yamaha quads I played in high school marching band sounded better than these.
