I recently bought Cuba Libre and started via the Play Book, I could not get my head around the Events and Operations, that is until I started to watch this playthrough of yours....and then it all clicked thanks to your thorough teaching method. 1:19:12 - Agitate: I think "Agitate" is done in 2 different ways in 2 different moments, each with different conditions. The "Space must have FLN Control or Base" that you crossed out does apply to the Rally operation (see 3.3.1). The conditions you added yourself in handwriting of "Space must have FLN piece + No Government Control" does apply to the Support Phase during a Propaganda Round (see 6.3.2). Also note that Agitation as part of a Rally operation allows the player to shift the space one level towards Opposition, while during the Propaganda Round/Support Phase this can be done to a maximum of 2 levels towards Opposition. EDIT: I now see your helpful chat helped correct that at 1:43:09. :)
Thank you! I was watching this Playthrough to get a handle on the rules, saw his penned in "correction", tried to verify it via GMTs online rules and frantically pulling my hair out doing bgg searched for errata. Was driving me bonkers.
It took me a few days, but I have seen all of the 7 hours ! Crazy live. And a clutch finish by the French ! i'm starting to really get into these wargames, but even after these 7 hours of watching you play, I will still need to get to the rulebook. Maybe due to the numerous strategic ways or the asymetric actions between players... I hope to see Laura in a future live =)
Great video. Love the COIN games. Which computer program replaces the Bot? (2:54:15) Edward mentioned a computer program was made that allows you to enter which card came up and the program says what the Bot will do.

I found what might have been the last new brand new copy of this in the UK (for some reason, even though GMT has it in stock, UK retailers don't have this atm), and it's due tomorrow. Also, thanks for the head's up regarding the automated bot script for this. Grabbed that already, too.
56:16 - The "Pass" space on the Initiative Track is an exception; it can be taken by both players at the same time. 56:36 - This is to my understanding of the rules not correct...? It is correct that "Execute Op & Special Activity" allows the player to choose (quote) "any number of spaces", meaning also just 1 (indeed as with a "Limited Op"), but the Special Activity is still binding. It's also noteworthy that the player's token is placed *after* his/her actions have been taken. The wording in the rulebook is indeed confusing. "Execute Op & Special Activity" means that the Op can be taken in "any number of spaces", while "Execute Op only" means (quote) "in more than one location" -- which results in 2 different meanings for "Execute Op". I'm actually now more confused than before ... Anyone please correct me if I'm wrong, I'm also still in the process of figuring things out.
Awesome game. It’s a pity it continually gets considered (inevitably) with the 4 player systems because it seems to lose out to those in forums. As a two player game this is superb...... COIN or otherwise. If you are considering Twilight Struggle, Ardennes 44, Hannibal and Hamilcar, Sekigahara , (all amazing) then this could be in the mix as a choice. Not saying it’s better but for two players put in your list for look at .Tough choices from beginning to end and a really fulfilling few hours of play are always provided. Well done on the stream. So glad it got some exposure, just because I like it!
Very interesting video, amazing historical period., just a note, the Morocco border was shared betwen France and Spain, at mediterranean coast with Spanish Morocco (The spanish city of Melilla is very close to actual border), going south to French Morocco, the longest border, and in the southern part with Spanish Sahara. By the way , most of the OAS fugitives found asylum in francoist Spain.
I have no idea how anyone can even learn these things to get to play them, they are so complicated with so many exceptions and so much to remember you would need to take a 3 month course given by the designer to get it all down or be blessed with a 170 i.q. I'm sure they are a blast once you finally do learn them but the torture you must go through to get to that point makes me doubt it's ever going to be worth it. 6 pages into the rule book and most people are probably wishing for a game of monopoly. Seems like a very high barrier to get over for entry into this stuff.
So. Is card 55, development The only way the government can get bases? because I've looked three times through the cards, four times to the rules and the player aids and this is the only way I see them getting any bases...yes?
