Chrysalis to butterfly and release

This is a video that I recorded for Charlotte Rhoades Butterfly Garden of a chrysalis over a two week period which eventually hatched. It took about 1 1/2 weeks from the time the caterpillar turned into a chrysalis until the time that it turned into a butterfly. The beginning of the video was from two days before the hatching occurred. Once the butterfly began to hatch, the speed of the video was increased 5 times faster.
Once the butterfly hatched from the chrysalis, we took it back to the butterfly garden in Southwest Harbor, ME, tagged and released it.
