Well, I play the guts sword with heavy infusion but it isn‘t a cosplay, I dual wield with Grafted gs.

I like to imagine that this is a fight that Guts would actually enjoy. Since he's usually fighting things that mostly just try to clobber him with superhuman might, A fight where he gets to face off against a skillful opponent would probably be a breath of fresh air.

How’s the build coming
Its so fun. Me and all my friends got it 2 weeks ago and they all went mostly magic and I went straight strength and havent ever looked back. Saw my buddy play yesterday and every encounter was tough for him and I run through non boss enemies killing most with one jump attack and can kill pretty much any knight type enemy before they get a chance to attack back. It sometimes feels to cheap but Im not changing it up unless I hit a boss that's obliterating me, dungeon bosses are easy and so far mohg is the only boss to just destroy me but I then found out I was fighting him way early
Well not really, its missing the iconic repeating crossbow and his hand cannon

The designers of these games know people are gonna want to make a Guts character, so they always put in the equipment and a weapon to pull off the look.
The berserk series actually inspired from soft's dark souls games to a large extent. That's why there's always been guts's sword in the games.

Thanks! Fortunately the waterfowl dance can be canceled right as she jumps up 0:36. But sometimes she does that shit like 3-4 times, so yea 😆

Guts would probably be able to block every attack from waterfowl dance. He’s had a few moments where he’s blocking the insanely fast attacks of an opponent with extreme skill and speed. During his fight with Zondark in the black swordsman arc they had a flurry rush that was so fast that the bystanders watching the fight couldn’t even keep up with their sword swings.
Or when he fought Zodd on the Hill of Swords, Zodd was dual wielding swords and Guts managed to keep up with and react to the former's attacks with only ONE eye.
Yeah, the most memorable one was where he fought Zodd.
And add to Wild’s fight with Guts who killed any black dog knights that hit close, and further Guts vs Zodd
Don't turn this video into powerscaling. No, guts gets clobbered. He wouldn't be able to block anything Melania has to offer. The "insanely fast attacks of opponent that are extremely skilled!" don't matter, since they're not even close to being as fast or strong as Malenia.
Malenia would definitely overwhelm Guts. The fact that she can fight toe to toe with a character that can hold star systems in the sky & nuke entire cities, arguably higher should be enough to tell you that.

Malenia without waterfowl actually looks like a fun fight
The fact she never used Waterfowl Dance this whole fight shocked me and made me realize that’s the one truly difficult part of this fight. Good cosplay and good job. Saw some opportunities for throwing knives or crossbow shots but I’m guessing you’re going for full Dragon Slayer clang.
She did use it, but it was canceled by bleed.
I know my opinion is uncommon (at least since lots of people love this fight) but yeah, it's a pretty difficult fight though definitely possible to learn but waterfowl dance just kind of ruins it. you will die multiple times trying to figure out how to dodge it and even then the dodge isn't reliable. I fought her before any dodging guides were out but even then I really despise that attack. It pretty much ruined the fight for me as even on a good attempt if I got unlucky it was just an instant loss. people reading this, if you disagree, please be respectful of my opinion. lots of elden ring players are incredulous douchebags who will shit on any unique take they find so please spare me
It’s true, that attack is the truly difficult of this fight, even if you are in higher level, it is almost an insta kill.
@@rep1600 the attack is difficult to dodge/deal with but without guides I found swarm of flies can help as well as Ice pots (when she jumps into air to start the animation if you throw the pot she will fall and it cancels the attack) another method which works really well is bloodhound step. I understand most people feel this boss is too difficult or “unbalanced” but I feel she is an post post post endgame boss that is supposed to feel like the greatest challenge the game has to offer. Fighting her (to a victory) more than a few times has like emboldened the fact that she isn’t meant to be a breeze of a fight. If she was required for the story then I could understand why people would want her to be nerfed but I feel it would just take away from the experience of beating her.

This proves that if Malenia didn't have the flury attack the fight would be 100 times more enjoyable.
It ends up being a fight against the camera while dodging for sure, especially for strength. Otherwise just running away beforehand can work.
I seriously think that would be better than a nerf. Also, this fight proves how much a spirit summon can actually hinder you in this fight, acting as a health battery for her. One on one-if you dodge well, you’re not allowing her to regenerate.
She's easy to deal with once you learn when she goes up in the air, you just run the fuck back.... Rolling gets you killed on this one

A very cool way to avoid Malenia's jump-thrust attack is to jump slightly backwards so that you can land a jump attack. This works 95% of the times.
I was losing hope on playing a strength Greatsword build mainly because of this boss, you restored my hope showing it's still possible to win

Fun story : I was getting owned by malenia like any other player while using a different weapon, I used the greatsword for a long time when I first got it, but I swapped it out later on, back to the malenia fight I was constantly losing so I thought of swapping back to the greatsword and I won with it

If it did have the same parry system, then players would constantly parry each other lol with regular swords and no one would use shields. There’s a reason sekiro didn’t have multiplayer lol.

I did it after 40ish attempts, full guts type build (fingerprint armor, colossal GS). was absolutely brutal, even more so since elden ring's my first soulslike game. If you get the chance though, definitely try kill her with the GS. it's so satisfying once you beat her ass.
(also, not sure if there's a better guts armor than fingerprint or maliketh's, if there is I'd love to know)

@@revialle5434 00:35 yeah you can sort of predict it because I think at 75% health the move can trigger. so after the crit they did a jumping attack with the huge ass sword to stagger her out of it. Smart play

It honestly feels like Guts just got transported to the lands between and now he's trying to adapt.
Some notes about your stats:
Your vigor should be somewhere between 50-60. 40 just isn't enough once you get to the higher NG+ levels.
Strength, while two-handed, is multiplied by 1.5, so you should be aiming for 54 or 66 in Strength. Softcaps for strength are 55 and 80, and 99 is the obvious hardcap. 54 x 1.5 = 81, 66 x 1.5 = 99
You're using a Blood Greatsword here, but you haven't invested into Arcane at all. 45 Arcane is ideal. It provides the best status effect buildup before diminishing returns.

felt like I was watching a boxing match with no audience. Just 2 opponents. that's it. no buffs or bullshit. just trying to hit, and not get hit. I love it.
Hey man amazing fight. Im also doing guts and manage to make it to the final boss of the game but im struggling even with a mimic. I decided to just fight random bosses and my next target is Malenia and i cant wait to see how it goes. Also u make this boss look easy lmao.
It’s definitely a challenge. Her second phase is only harder with dodging the phantom spirits. Practice & patience.
Tip for the waterfowl if ur not using bh-step is to spin under her to redirect the attack then I-frame the last two hits, hope this helps for when you get to her
as a fellow strength user rocking dual colossal great hammer I have to say for water fowl dance you can't rely on it never going off. I highly would recommend having a second weapon with bloodhound step on it. I in order to do this fight without changing my build or using summoning ashes got a dagger (so it wouldn't weigh much) and just put bloodhound step on it purely to switch to for the weapon art to dodge waterfowl dance. However, if you are already close to her and you dont already have the weapon out you will get hit anyway which is probably why the fight took me 9 hours to beat.

This is almost the perfect Guts vs Apostle recreation, with one exception. You forgot to film the part where Malenia almost kills Guts and he scrapes by through sheer anger and/ or goes full Black Armor. (No, but seriously, this is awesome. Great cosplay and fight)
Now imagine if melania was wearing a griffith mod 😍phase 2 could even be made into femto with the wings

I opted for learning how to parry her as I’m using a heavy greatsword, didnt realise a bleed version would be so effective!

She didnt' do that move. I love this fight just because of that. I had to respec my stats in NG++ because in a pure ugs build she was freaking impossible. I can dodge that move but if she catches me recovering from an attack I'm 90% of times dead

Yeah, if you’re gonna do a UGS build then you have to spec max vigor or else you’re dead
if you don't want to do that what I did instead for my first playthrough rocking dual colossal hammers which are even slower and have no range is I had a secondary weapon I could switch to on my main slot that has bloodhound step specifically to dodge that attack.

Can we just simply enjoy the fact that lack of music in the beginning? Something about it just emphasizes the focus and sheer determination of this fight and Guts as a character. There are no words, no dramatic speeches, just a fight to the death. Slamming metal against the flesh of god and clashing wills against survival. Simply fucking poetic.

But if he did that there'd be no story. So by extension, the strength neccessary to walk around and swing a torch in elden ring must also be comperable to the strength neccessary to survive crushing obliterating g's every time radahn sucks in said stick-swinging man with his powers.
If you go down the rabbit hole of trying to justify plot elements that exist only for the sake of coolness, you find yourself in increasingly idiotic contradictions.
This is all on the topic of whether guts could survive being hit by a swarm of butterflies, mind you.
