This is so satisfying to watch! The blockwork inside wall is so precise that you could stick wallpaper right to it and you wouldn't notice there is no plaster behind, if the pointing was flat. And the English bond looks so nice with these old bricks and lime mortar, the snowcrete gives a nice sand colour because it doesn't render the colour to grey. In my house renovation I have been using the lime/cement mix after doing a bit of bricklaying with ready mix, and I have to say that it is a treat to work with. It gives a muck which sticks well, doesn't turn into a thin slurry in an instance if you add a bit to much water and also allows you more time to shift the brick or block around before it stiffens up. I really got better brickwork since using it.
One of your best videos that .The work to cut all those half batts let em dry etc .The bond thought process. The snow crete and lime mortor and them reclaims can see Tony and A&E do things to a high level. You've done yourselves proud there a fantastic job of the wall and extension think you guys and A&E fit well together. Really enjoyed that its all about the pride ,detail, thought process and enthusiasm to lay bricks that gets work like this .Good on you Steve 👍💯🧱🧱🧱
@Bricklaying With Steve and Alex Yea they seem a very prestigious company at the top of there game but so are you .I think bricklaying is a skill that is so underestimated .Today we are just taught the basics time gone by our trade had a lot more to it .Wish it could all come back theres more to it than price work chucking up houses as you ve just witnessed mate .What your doing there is more what bricklaying is and still should be about even down to the mortor mix Steve 👍💯🧱🧱

This is another level! The forward thinking on this job is brilliant; bonding, cutting blocks down to work guage.. everything is to the T👌👌👌 The English bond looks amazing! Very excited to see the rest of this build! Keep at it lads!
Great workmanship on that job well set out bonds and love the English bond pier Steve and good explanation of the different jobs going on with insulation and wall starter kits etc Alex a great team effort with Steve and Alex and a&e 👏
Excellent work on this build Steve and Alex, and the rest of the lads in the team! So good to see so much pride in the job - which is sadly lacking in many trades these days. The qualified tradesmen/journeymen who trained me said to treat every job like it was my own and give the best finish possible. Loads of that in the work ethic here! Thanks for these views into your World of work. You and yours stay safe and well.
Great job and workmanship said always guys. Makes me happy watching two of my favourite channels in one 😊 (80’s German techno background music isn’t the best tho boys)
Lovely work boys. I’ve just started back in the trade after a 30 year brake. Can I ask, why don’t you use the stand on your mixer and what do you do with the slurry when you clean the mixer on domestic jobs. I’m currently building a large garden and getting rid of the slurry is an issue. Any help/ advice appreciated. Thank you
The stand is just another thing to clog up the van so sold mine at a car boot sale years ago . As for cleaning out it’s just wherever we can . If we are desperate we will leave the water in till next day 🧱👍🏽
Absolutely awesome guys🤩I'm not normally a jealous person, but man, that looks like an amazing job to be on. That brickwork look truly amazing, and it's obvious the rest of the job will super top quality 👍Thanks for the video😎
Alex and I are so lucky that Tony decided to ask us to join him and the lads for this job .Its been an amazing experience for us both and as you know Tony is such a generous person . The customers are really lovely too and are very chuffed with the extension . Toms video comes out soon , part 2 of the bricklaying , its brilliant with a bit of cheesy acting too 😆🧱👍🏽
@@martin2466 Hi Martin, it needs to be breathable, the same tape that A&E are using, I can't quite make out the brand name in the video. I would be interested to know where they get it from. Cheers
Great video guys ! The insulation system you used there in the cavity wall is technically a good way to insulate :) ;have a good one steve and al .. is it windy there ? 🌬🍃💨

I'm trying to use the same insulation (K106) and my boards are all bowed 😢. Your boards all look like they're perfectly flat against the wall and I have huge gaps behind my boards (10mm in some places). Did you find some were bowed or are they as good as they look in the video?
Why are use cutting the sheets of insulation, these are 450mm I done a job last year where I had to tape the insulation aswell 8 houses what a pain that was
This is not English bond.
Yes it is
I think you (@user-lf9kj2cm8d) are confusing with the independent brick / garden wall? That was done in Flemish bond, if I am not mistaken!

GREAT to see English bond used for a change!
