    The plastic filter looks more fuzzy.
    It might be good enough for a early P22 gen2+ tube with much noise. But I doubt, I would bother.
    Thanks for this inspiration, I'll see if it helps with a much too bright 3 stage gen0 scope, that I have.

      I use clear protective lenses from NightVision Inc on both ends of my pvs14. They're made to protect from airsoft BB strikes, so they should work for most handling.

      you can run a refocus/iris with the filters because the filters go on the eyepiece where the refocus caps and iris' are screwed into the objective lens.

    • @NITEWALKER-NIGHTVISION
      @NITEWALKER-NIGHTVISION  4 года назад

      Yes, they work very good under a bright Moon. On no Moon nights you will probably want to remove it.

  • @nightfury1318
    @nightfury1318 4 года назад +3

    Thanks for making this video. Was looking for more info on it. On the installation. You have to remove the eye cup ring in order to use these is what it sounds like?. Will the eye cup be able to fit on the Amber lens? I'm hoping to not have to use the eye cup since I wear glasses most of the time. Compared to the Wilcox on back splash how would you rate it? My main interest is reducing back splash if I have to take the eye cup off due to glasses or mask use. The gain in contrast is a big plus.

    • @NITEWALKER-NIGHTVISION
      @NITEWALKER-NIGHTVISION  4 года назад +2

      You have to remove the ring and screw the filter into the same threads the ring used. The eye cup won't work with it. It reduces the back splash some but not as much as the Wilcox since it is a lot darker. I've always ditched the eye cups and never use them because it takes away your peripheral vision and can fog up the eyepiece.

    Would you recommend any of these products on a Gen 2+ device? I have a PVS-14 with a GEN 2+ tube but wasn't sure if any amber filter would make a Gen 2 device too dark to use as most PVS-14's are using Gen 3 tubes.

    • @NITEWALKER-NIGHTVISION
      @NITEWALKER-NIGHTVISION  4 года назад

      I think it would make it too dark especially on little or no moon nights. On bright moon nights it might be okay but it will still darken it.

    How about the "laser filter" that goes on the objective end?

    • @NITEWALKER-NIGHTVISION
      @NITEWALKER-NIGHTVISION  4 года назад +1

      Joe Tittiger The LIF isn’t designed to alter the color or limit the eye splash like the amber filters specifically do. It also screws into the front objective lens whereas the amber filters and others like it (purple filters for white phosphor) screw into the rear eyepiece.
      The LIF does reduce the amount of light coming into the tube so it reduces performance and darkens the image some. The LIF blocks certain high power green targeting lasers.

    • @yourlocalidiot7733
      @yourlocalidiot7733 4 года назад +1

      @@NITEWALKER-NIGHTVISION The Green filtering is actually a side effect, from what ive been told the real purpose is to protect them from extremely high powered IR laser designators used on things like helicopters for laser guided munitions. These operate at a different wavelength than traditional aiming lasers like PEQ-15s around ~1064nm, as they use Nd.Yag laser systems rather than compact diodes. The much higher wavelength than traditional aiming lasers is why the LiF will not protect NV from something like a PEQ whatsoever, the way I understand it the green filtering is due to a physics concept that I cant recall the name of.

      Scott Schneider I use an Inforce WML IR (1 cell, single CR123) and Surefire X300V for longer range. The Princeton Tec Switch IR is really good for short range. A cheaper option that works pretty good is a Fandyfire 850nm or 940nm. It has an adjustable head so you can adjust for a wide flood or a tighter spot beam. $19 on Amazon www.amazon.com/dp/B07J58P2WR/ref=cm_sw_r_oth_api_i_25x5EbZRB72H7

    What about using it with the white phosphor tubes?

    • @NITEWALKER-NIGHTVISION
      @NITEWALKER-NIGHTVISION  4 года назад +2

      Willie Fistergash The amber doesn’t work well with the WP. I have anvis eyepieces in the sentinel I put the L3’s in so I can’t screw them in. I held it up and didn’t like it. There are purple filters and the pics look like they work really good with WP. Haven’t tried them yet though.
      Specs-wise, if they have them, I’d go for a 72 res and mid to high 30’s signal to noise ratio. A 64 res with mid to high 30’s would be great also. I’d pick a 64 with snr close to 40 over a 72 with snr close 30. Either one, get the lowest ebi and halo numbers you can. Ebi under 1.0 minimum, preferably closer to .5 but most of them seem to be around .7-.8 which is fine. You want the same for halo, below 1.0 minimum but as low as possible. There’s some other specs like cathode response but these are the major ones.

      Thank you very much for spec’s, i will copy this down and ask matt @
      N-Vision, i had called him Thursday and they were out of the blem tubes so he put me on a wait list. Seems like the best tubes are out of stock on the major NV web sites, must be a lot of people buying these NV units.

    • @NITEWALKER-NIGHTVISION
      @NITEWALKER-NIGHTVISION  4 года назад +1

      Willie Fistergash Sure Shot Night Vision has the purple. You can google or search them on Instagram. They have a lot of content on IG.
      With N-Vision that’s usually the case but they seem to get them fairly often. Personally, I prefer being able to choose what they have when they get them versus laying in advance and not knowing what you’ll get. Just be ready to choose between different tubes and ready buy so when they contact you they don’t skip you for someone else.

    • @NITEWALKER-NIGHTVISION
      @NITEWALKER-NIGHTVISION  4 года назад +1

      I don't understand your question. Night vision works during the day but there is no need to use it in daylight.
      The visible light spectrum is 400nm - 700nm. Gen 3 intensifier tubes use 400nm-to-940nm but are more sensitive in the near infrared spectrum 700nm-900nm range. Gen 2 the same but can have more sensitivity above 900nm than gen 3.

    • @NITEWALKER-NIGHTVISION
      @NITEWALKER-NIGHTVISION  4 года назад

      To clarify - you can use it during the day but you need a lens cap with pin hole cover to only allow a tiny amount of light in. Too much light and you will destroy the tube.
