Micky Thompson’s vision for motorsports was incredible. I watched every one of these races on TV back in the day from Nebraska. Now Robby Gordon is keeping the dream alive with his Super Stadium Trucks.
This form of racing was so much better than what we have now in Stadium Super Trucks. Actual manufacturers supporting the series and real companies sponsoring teams, dirt tracks in *actual* stadiums instead of just using the word in your series name, a few of these drivers were household names who literally made themselves on the back of their success in this series, regular motorsport we got on ESPN, a kick ass, timeless arcade game...I really miss what this used to be and it sucks that the closest we have to it is so much worse than it used to be.
Great to see this on you tube. I have been to one in 1990 at Candlestick Park, SF. Ivan Stewart aka Ironman champ 1990. So cool, too see Jimmie Johnson with the superlites at the age of 15 racing! RIP Mickey Thompson ✌
Me and my friends still talk about going to Mickey Thompson shows. These were so fun and cool to watch live!! Still remember when they had Bigfoot monster truck do some exhibition car crushes at the Mickey Thompson races in Anaheim, Pasadena, and LA.
if I could travel back in time, I would definitely go to this race. My all-time dream when I was a kid was to see the trucks flying down that drop. it was just so cool.
Was lucky enough to be there, had to walk blocks from parking to get inside, was about 11 and can remember smelling weed through the whole race 😂, awesome racing to watch, they flew in the trucks off that top, great memories, sister bought me tickets
