@@RobertoHelou yes...from Cairo to Luxor but they wouldn't let me!! after a few miles the police stopped me and forced me to go with them back to Cairo and go by train (after waiting 15 hours and having to sleep in a dirty hotel) obliging me to buy a First Class Ticket...that turned out to be an overpriced regular tourist class seat.... They wouldn't even let me walk: when I was in Luxor the next day I wanted to enjoy walking to the Valley of the Kings, Valley of the Queens etc...and after rejecting a couple of taxis a police car started following me and eventually offered to escort me wherever i wanted to go...so I spent the entire time arguing with the police instead of enjoying the walk. Same thing the next day when I tried to bike to Karnak, like 2 or 3 miles away from Luxor...I'm sure they' had been watching me the entire time...like if I deserved a special treatment...for traveling alone and according to them that's suspicious....however...the official reason for limiting my freedom was, according to the police, for my safety...but I haven't seen any danger at all, the people were awesome...the only harassment came exclusively from the police constantly attached to my butt.

Damn that cry at the arrested part was so emotional it could have worked as a dramatic intro in editing
Nooo haha when I saw the hats i was rolling! That was by far the funniest thing I saw all week! gained a sub here!

I'm Egyptian living abroad and I truly like you video, one of the best I ever watched from tourists about my country, great editing too.
As for the police in Egypt we sometimes don't know why they're acting like this with a very close mindset, anyway it's been like that for decades hopefully one day we will become a true democratic country, otherwise enjoy the rest of your tour and keep cycling bro🙂
Life could be dream bro
Wow Reberto, I love this video.
Good on you guys for sticking to your guns (excuse the pun) against the Egyptian authorities and continuing with your cycle adventure. Nice one bro.
Oh and your Arabic (Levantine accent) is on point. Well done.
As an Egyptian in Germany, I am proud of my country, Egypt, and this is a wonderful documentary 🇪🇬❤

I'm actually so surprised that they let you film everything and even do it for you, in other places of the world they just try to shut it off or put down the cameras and so on, great journey guys keep going :)
We had to be discreet and film with our phones most of the time😆
Also, Egyptian cops are way nicer than say USA cops😅 they're not killing machines
@@RobertoHelou would you say that the Egyptian police are there for your safety along the way or were they to intimidate your. like say if they were no police bodyguards with you?
@@RobertoHelou as an arab, I think Egyptian and USA have nice and bad cops but the real issue in the system as you said, and there is huge difference between president elected by people and someone from army take down the country's first elected civilian president to be the president

You see, that feeling of frustration? Egyptians live it everyday.
I really enjoyed this one, because I've had some similar experience when I was in Egypt.... Great job.
Did u cycle there?
@Dan Frullani they dont want you to cycle alone because its insanely dangerous, especially after sunset. Why do they care so much? Because your embassy is gonna blame them if you get kidnapped, robbed or killed.
For clarification, I was referring to cycling alone on the highway between two cities for example.
@@Snail641I am Egyptian and I would like to clarify to you that there is no theft or kidnapping in Egypt, but the Egyptian police must follow you to check on you 👍
Best cycling documentary in Egypt. You were so empathetic and determined. I loved it.
this is literally a masterpiece its been a while since I last enjoyed a video that much 🤣🤣
You hit the nail on the head Egypt is a safe country especially the cities/villages along the Nile. Unfortunately the Egyptian gov cannot seem to fathom that foreigners want to see these beautiful parts of Egypt they would rather us go to the malls in cairo
Your sense of humour so priceless
Happy you resonated with it. Many don't 😂😂

Did you just turn this huge unexpected trial into a movie while cycling hundreds of kms, having no guaranteed electricity, wifi, or time ? And uploaded it here for us ? Damn Rob
bro, u deserve millions of views and subscribers for that work ❤❤
As an Egyptian, I apologize to all of you for what happened with you while enjoying our country. God willing, in the next visit, our country's government will be better, safer, and less tense. We thank you all for what you have given us, we Egyptians. The best and kindest people on earth..but some tyrannical governments spoil every beautiful thing for the sake of the whims of a sick ruler with the disease of greatness..thank you again
Thank you sherif for joining them in their trip in country we are proud of you❤❤

Nah bro, they're just confused. "Cycle? but we have cars! ... Cars go faster!"
Great stroy! it hurts to see this paranoia from the police and security apparatus! they are really shpooting themselves in their own feet! Tourism officials must have the courage to protest at those incidents of harrassing tourists and lead campaign to clean the image of Egypt. Hats off to your guide SHERIF, he is doing a wonderful job and I admire his patience and resilience. Good luck guys with your journey :)
If these guys were lost, the world will blame the government and the police
