According to Setyan Law, a 2023 statistical survey:
75% of employees have witnessed workplace bullying behavior.
62% of workplace bullying cases result in the resignation of the victim.
70% of the time, the bully is the one who remains with the company while the victim leaves.
Only 5% of reported workplace-bullying cases have successful conciliations.
Only 1% of workplace bullying victims end up confronting their perpetrators.
61% of workplace bullies are supervisors, and 33% are co-workers.
71% of workplace bullies act alone, and 29% bully in groups.

I left a toxic workplace over a year ago. I still have anxiety panic attacks, sleepless nights, headaches with blackouts, can’t eat or feel sick snd throw up after eating foods I was able to watch fine as a child. In addition to bullying, ostracisation, gaslighting and humiliation, crimes were committed that get hushed over to protect the companies reputation. I do not trust companies and will never work for a company again

Once I asked myself who am I thats when I realised these people were never my kind of people, no support, felt alone and always giving to my team but my bucket dried up because it never was replenished. Coming up on 5 yrs of retirement. I left a very toxic work environment in mammography. Lots of gossip. Tribes. I over worked….came in early to turn on machines etc. Stayed to do the last patient as I was single and others married w kids etc. Drinking a bottle of wine became the norm. Few months later I quit at age 68. 5 yrs later my nervous system is finally calmed down. It took that long. So I relate to Jamie talking about what our bodies are going thru. I drink now and then w long periods of time of sobriety. I’d like to stop for good. So I’ll keep listening to Jamie! ….a God thing cuz this am she just popped up on my feed and it’s exactly what I need!

First at a large teaching hospital in Los Angeles, then transferred to a local Public Health department (i have a masters degree in public health). I’ve always worked for large bureaucratic government organizations. The competition for professional positions was fierce. I am single, no children so I felt obligated to take care of my future so i only worked for pension organizations. OMG…people never cease to amaze me how low they can get. I stayed 26 years in the same program without the opportunity for promotion because geographically the programs were so spread out over the city. Im going to write the letter to my former self but do you have any ideas moving forward? I worked as a caregiver at a assisted living I was so excited to start the job as my mom just passed and I had taken care of her in her terminal days . I was so good at taking care of the elderly but when I got to this one place most of the other caregivers were decent to me except there were a few problems , there was a specific jamacian woman who for some reason over time insulted me and called me out continuously , confronting me and slandering me that I was a lazy caregiver and never cleaned the residents properly she would make fun of me and berate me, I was absloultely floored on how to handle this I hadn't been treated this blantably rude since the grammar school play ground, being a people pleaser this was hard. I have a friendly personality and hadnt really had anyone have this much disdain and hostility toward me openly in my adult life. I had so much anxiety when I knew I had to see her which was daily. I again tried everything being friendly and trying to joke with her and even trying to talk with her and stand up to her . I remember one day I said Hi to her in front of the building and she yelled at me never to say hi to her in front of the building again alot of people had this issue with her but she really targeted me . She really clearly hated me . Managment liked her and she kissed up to them making jamaican food for them . I had to quit nothing was working they wouldnt do anything about her I was beginning to have sleeplness nights plus a fellow caregiver friend was so moody she had a love hate relationship with me ,one minute she wouldnt talk to me for days then she was fine. I was so full of dread and anxiety working there I couldnt sleep anymore. What advice do you have if I run into to someone this blatantly hostile and nothing works again? It was so toxic and unprofessional there I dont think theres many places that bad but since then Im uping my education to higher pay and more professional places in a different field. I dont think theres alot of places like this were you literally feel like your in jail and going to get beat up by the inmates. I was also the only white one working there which may have had something to do with it. AGAIN its really to bad because I was so excited to start that job especially since it was right next door. I think a letter to move on would be good but any advice in the future when if I run into someone who has pure openly disdain for me and theres nothing I can do?

I worked as a nurse in a jail and while I enjoyed the job itself, the environment was so toxic I would come to work stressed over who would working with me and what they would be gossiping about. I would sit in another room to work or work in the nurses office in the jail unit with the corrections officers. They were my refuge. @@Jamieinjanuary Thank you - I needed to hear this! I will be trying the tips in this video. Sending love to all those who are in similar situations and needed to hear this too- being bullied really does hurt your soul. I think it will take me sometime maybe even years to build myself back up. Maybe in my case my personality made me an easy target!

They're all toxic, what are you talking about?!? Every single job will have people that don't like you, especially if you're a female and you got it going on.

How do I rehabilitate myself from over 26 years of a toxic unfair work place?. I need to stay until March 2025 because tax person and financial planner said my retirement plan is 99% successful as opposed to only 90% if I leave now. I just want to start over. I’ve never received concrete feedback as to the missing skill set. Bottom line: it’s a competitive workplace and I’m at a disadvantage since I’m older (66 years old) and I feel as though there is blatant ageism at play as well as other “isms”. Appreciate any feedback as to how to heal.😊

I had to take time and leave the job. During that time I really had to assess what was important to me. You can find a hobby, Start writing in a journal (which helped me discover what was bothering me). I used to draw and I stopped so I was instructed to start that back up. Take a break from social media and spend more time making your space/ house look fresh and clutter free. See a therapist. I do not know where you live but Zocdoc has on line therapist that you can just zoom or call!

This is so helpful! Thank you for your advice. I'm retiring early because of this exact situation. Do you think it is worth it to tell my supervisor or just keep it on a positive, superficial level?

That depends. Superficial is what I’d go with

How can you deal with a toxic environment at school... How can you deal with that when the management itself is weak and can't do anything to stop a bunch of students who are selfish, loser and a failure and want to make you a scapegoat to their faliure.
