In UK we have an interuptur switch that kills the live to lights, which I turn puts on the emergency light's. With saying that, it got to be better than turning of breakers in the fuse board's which can weaken the spring fuse breaker. Having all these system's is great as you know you are covered for all event's when away from home or dealing with school call outs.
Keep in mind when testing a CO detector with test spray you have to push the test button first then spray the CO spray in to the little holes. Also I have an idea, You should add some kind of alarm for the sprinkler flow so you know if the sprinkler tripped the system before you even enter. Oh and you should set off the alarm with the fog machine for the next test, I think it would be cool. Last thing, How does the generator start itself? Sorry theres so much to read. But I hope you have a wonderful day!
I will have a video coming out at some point on the generator set up and you don't need to press the test button if you were using CO spray we don't use separate alarms here for sprinkler flow it is just tied into the fire alarm system like any other device
I have considered it and it would be possible just not as simple as a normal system as it will freeze in the pipes going out there as I live in Canada and it drops below zero often so it would either need to be a dry system or have a heat trace and monitored by the fire alarm
@@odorouswo1f yea my school was out because a sprinkler blew up because of the water freezing and flooded a few class rooms but a janitor reported it when he was there so they got it in time before it ruined every thing
Is there a reason you turned the sprinkler drain off slowly? Is it to avoid water hammer or just to make it good for the camera? Love your system! Love the doors with the card locks too!
The ups that powers your computer is beeping fast because it thinks that the battery is old. With this model you have to go into the powershute software and tell it that you changed the battery, and for that you need their proprietary cable. Mine did the same thing before
As an American, I'd like to know; Why do Canadian fire alarm systems have blue strobes on them? I'm curious about how and why the code requires that? Given that blue for the US is a mass-notification color, and not a fire color
Nice Video Nic.I have 2 questions 1, Any new schools getting new panels/systems this summer you can record?(FA) 2. Could you activate one of the detectors in the generator building.
Not much since we always put the system in full alarm instead of drill basically we'd just leave too and would not silence it and would call the fire department and then inform the school at their muster station the situation
With the amount of expansions you made to the fire alarm system, are you going to expand the system into your house at some point? Sure it would be costly, but it could save thousands of Canadian Dollars in the long run and would save lifes.
Well even so, can you relay the two systems into each other so if one or the other panels go off, will they all go off? I also recommend two announcators in the basement so you can silence them both from the basement.
@@Corwin09-ji8sx the two systems wouldn't put each other into alarm as they are two different buildings I wouldn't want that but they could put each other into supervisory if one is an alarm

Hello @@nics-systems-electric
@@nics-systems-electric Okay, I've only ever seen it done the way I described.
You should expand the sprinkler system to the generator building, just a thought as it’s made of wood and has flammable liquids in it.
I have considered it and it would be possible just not as simple as a normal system as it will freeze in the pipes going out there as I live in Canada and it drops below zero often so it would either need to be a dry system or have a heat trace and monitored by the fire alarm
@@nics-systems-electric Fair, freezing would be an issue.

Yeah you don't want to slam any valves too fast creating water hammer
Hey nic, I was wondering were you get all your fire alarm equipment from.
I get lots when I pull out old systems but then also I get a lot on eBay as well
I think that's probably the first time I've ever seen a SpectrAlert with a blue strobe
If you watch any of my school testing videos you would see them

Yes its scheduled
Ok thanks
As an American, I'd like to know; Why do Canadian fire alarm systems have blue strobes on them? I'm curious about how and why the code requires that? Given that blue for the US is a mass-notification color, and not a fire color
Indicates annunciator location to responding fire department so they know to look for a blue strobe so it stands out from the rest of white strobes
@@nics-systems-electric That's actually SO well thought-out! I- hmm... I am truly humbled by this answer

Two fire alarm system replacements this summer
Awesome to see the automatic transfer switch implemented, have you setup an electric choke for the generator?
I will have videos coming out on the project next month
I had a momentary Outage today at 8:55am and now it's 11:55am EDT All my Emergency lights and the 2 exit signs in my home held up well for 5 seconds
Can you make a video of how to wire a supervisory pull station and alarm or talking about it?
Nice test! How does the RisingLink System work? Ive been thinking about getting a little dialer and that thing looks perfect
It's actually a power loss detector wired to the panel
How does it work
What happens if you are doing a test of a system at a school and an actual fire breaks out?

Yes

What Access Controller Do You Use?
Watch my videos on it

What’s the panel below the breaker box that says caution?

Not necessarily the front just to show annunciator location
