    You could reroute the generator exhaust to do a 90 degree bend up and add a verticle exhaust pipe with rain cap sort of like on a big rig truck. Even just doing that with some narrow rigid stovepipe and a regular weather cap would be better than having it so close to the ground that you've gotta worry about snow build-up.

    • @nics-systems-electric
      @nics-systems-electric  Год назад +6

      That's true it might still build up on the roof a couple feet tall though but would probably help and I could probably also just not shovel snow into that corner but it gets hard to find places to put the snow once there's a lot of it lol

    Awesome setup, I think a 400W halogen could be the go to swap in during cold winters. I've got a Toshiba fixture (which I can not find anything about online) and it heats fair sized rooms quite quickly. Iwasaki Electric is where my ones bulb is from, but any 400W Halogen R40 would keep the generator toasty

      I would totally wire the fire alarm system to security system if the security system was monitored but there isn't really any point if it's not monitored because then it's just two systems with a non-system normal status usually the point of connecting them together is if one system is monitored and one isn't

    This was my exact concern from your previous videos and I want to make clear you are 500% smarter than I am when it comes to this stuff. However your setup is so overkill and you put so much work, time and money in to build that perfect shed and all the controls and wiring and have block heater and temp control etc I can't believe this is a problem in temps that aren't even that cold. My concern was your time delay being way too short to throw a full load to during winter, but I actually thought your block heater and temp control would eliminate that worry completely. I would love to see what happens with your system running automatically in this exact scenario with the generator only warmed with your current system. What would happen if your generator is not warm enough to transfer full load automatically on your time delays?

    Would putting a electric heater be too much in there for the size of the generator building just to keep warm while its not being used?

    • @nics-systems-electric
      @nics-systems-electric  Год назад

      The problem is the electric heaters are very long you can get a small one that is 300 W that would fit but at that point it's only 50 W more than my light bulb so I'll just keep using that and maybe add another one

    you can get halogen heating bulbs, but not in the receptacle type that you have. you can get a cheap heater that is a light bulb based heater that can do 1200W (3x 400W) you can also get small portable ones that are around 600W (2 x 300W) still give out light, but is more heat than light.

    • @rhombixt
      @rhombixt Год назад

      Simple - use a current monitor and a low temp switch. If the current fails to flow when the temp is x degrees , then you know the heat strip as fails and it can trip the supervisory.
