  • Brian Laudrup 'GOD' Tribute
In July 1994, Laudrup was offered an escape route from Italy when he was approached by Walter Smith of Rangers, and he signed in a £2.3 million deal. His time in Scotland was filled with success as he helped Rangers complete their nine-in-a-row sweep of the Scottish League Title and was awarded Danish Player of the Year twice, giving him a record four wins of the award. Laudrup's time with Rangers was a massive success where many fans still consider him to be the greatest ever foreigner to have played for Rangers. His performance in the 1996 Scottish Cup Final where he scored two and setup three goals has since made Rangers fans call the game the Laudrup Final

For all who compare Larsson and Brian. No need to undervalue anyone. They were both very good players in their respective prime, but if I have to pick one I will have no doubt. Larsson was a really efficient striker and had an excellent career. But Brian was special. He was that type of player that fans pay a ticket and go to the stadium to watch him play. He was pure talent, almost as good as his brother Michael... And Michael is considered by many one of the best ever. Capital letters.

i think brian was good talent for finishing goals and assists. Michael in the begining of his career played like forward but cruyff saw his talent for doing the play of barcelona

Both Laudrup´s were great in their prime, but Brian is my favorite due to his explosive runs. MIchael was the assist-man in Cruyff Dream Team, and one of best "number 9" in the game, but rarely he could decide a game on his own. When you needed someone to save the day - Brian Laudrup was the answer.

The words of Donald Findlay QC-----His learned friend Lord Nimmo Smith may have declared otherwise. But to Donald Findlay the Rangers which visits Cowdenbeath on Tuesday is not the same Rangers he once served.
'It is a different club,' he tells Sportsmail bluntly. 'They may play at Ibrox and they may play sometimes in royal blue jerseys.
'But you cannot pass on that which is undefinable. And that is spirit and tradition and all the rest of it.
'To me this is a new Rangers which has to establish its own history and tradition.
But it's not the Rangers I know. To me, genuinely, it is a new entity.'

Michael was a central midfielder who was much slower than brian but a genius passer, brian was a very pacey winger with superb dribbling, mind you saying that brian was also a great passer and Michael a great dribbler. Both players didn't score a lot of goals but used there skill to create openings for team mates. Brian had the better international career and Michael the better club career.

I'd love to see the larsson best of type equivalent to this because there is no comparison, Laudrup is the far superior player! But that mob and their sponsored Scottish press always make out they were both the best players to ever come to Scotland as though there's nothing to chose between them. It's just because they don't want to say a rangers player was the greatest non Scottish player. Larssons are all just finishes mainly within the box that others set up for him. He didn't create anywhere as near the amount of goals Laudrup did for himself AND for others! And I wouldn't even say well larrson is 2nd, Its actually a debate between Laudrup and Gascoigne for who was the greatest non scot as I wouldn't class Gascoigne as a "foreigner" that's ridiculous. So maybe if you say foreigner and leave gazza out of it then perhaps you could have a case for larsson but even that's debatable. I mean he might not have been here in his prime and didn't have the longevity that larsson had but even someone like claudio caniggia who played along side Maradona as his strike partner and a goal in a world Cup semi final to help his country into the final would larrson have gotten a game ahead of him to larsson Maradona? I know who my money would be on Maradona rather having next to him! Or players like the de boers, van bronckhorst and gattuso are worthy of contention considering their quality and achievements in the game.

    reality check.
laudrup was very overrated in Scotland.
he shone in a poor league.
he, like many other players who were stars in Scotland in the nineties, were flops in bigger leagues.
just like van chooijdonk di canio cadete they were big names in Scotland but poor elsewhere.
    laudrup failed in germany,
    failed in Italy,
    and failed in England.
and failed miserably in each of those leagues.

    • @brianlaudrupchannel
      @brianlaudrupchannel 6 лет назад

Pat O he played some great games for Chelsea but he attempted to get out of his contract before kicking a ball for Chelsea and made several attempts during playing which caused him to leave. Chelsea didn't want him to go which is why they still played him in the important european games just before he left. But Brian shouted loud enough to say get me out of here. He was fantastic in his first season in Germany where he won Danish player of the year beating M.laudrup at Barcelona to it. In his second season he was widely praised and this it the point where people realised that Brian would never be a heavy goal scorer though, but people praised him for his creation of goals. Probably Bayerns second best player behind effenburg. His second season was injury hit with a bad leg break where he watched from the stands as the Bayern team collapsed. He fell out with top management there as Brians big mouth got him in trouble and was sold. He finished 6th in the balon d'or in 92 for his great performances for Denmark and for his great performances for Florentina. Florentina changed there manager and after Christmas completely collapsed as a team. He was loned to Milan where he had a mixture of good/average performances but Cappello was very defensive and would rather play Desiey (however you spell him) over him, as laudrups attacking play wasn't needed. His club career is quite patchy to look at on paper mostly due to fallout at clubs because of his big mouth, and the unlucky fact that teams were poorly managed at times. He also had a good season in Holland but yet again the Ajax team was under poor management again and Brian was the only good thing about that team. He got bad injuries at the end of that season and was forced to retire.

laudrup only played nine times for Milan that season.
Milan won the champions league but without laudrup even making the bench in the final despite the Milan team being decimated by injuries and suspensions.
when did laudrup the great magician shine in Europe for rangers against decent opposition?
the laudrup myth is like the the di canon myth the Celtic fans formerly upheld-not a great player but rather one who shine against the small teams as flashy performers.
