Rebecca, I have been following your RUclips channel for several months now and keep planning to comment but haven't until now. To say I appreciate you and your content would be an understatement. I love this channel... Of all the cheap meal channels out there, i can't explain why but this channel makes it feel doable and it's comforting at the same time
Barley can be cooked in the microwave and added to any soup. It's really good and it's filling. It's especially good with that beef pot roast. Can also add leftover vegetables. Baked potatoes can be cut up and added in. The cheddar broccoli soup is good over baked potatoes or topped with instant mashed potatoes. I'm a lover of soup both as soup and as a meal.
My Mom made something similar in the 50's & 60's. She was a single Mom who worked 3-4 jobs at a time with 4 kids & didn't have much money. She would use white sandwich bread in her muffins tins & made chunk light tuna, with cream of mushrooms soup paprika on top and would bake them in the oven and we'd have that on Friday nights. If it was really cold outside we'd have chicken noodles/ rice for something warm for breakfast, before we walked to school in New England. A lot of what you do in your videos She did. I did (3-4 jobs) after my divorce and still do in 70's for myself to get by. I like your videos.
Thank you so much for watching and for sharing these amazing memories of your hard-working mom! Canned soups have been a budget saver for a long time that is for sure! ❤️
Genius once again !! I would put green onions on the potatoes with the broccoli cheese bacon soup. Well, actually I would put green onions on everything LOL You and your videos are such a huge public service. The meals you show are single, couple and family meals everyone can enjoy. Having a hot meal is very important for humans.
You are a most charming RUclips chef. A motherly personality and a graceful way about the kitchen, and clever fashion sense, too! It makes a difference. You are blessed with good luck. 💜 🙂
My mom used to make those little biscuit pies for us as kids with ground beef browned with a little bbq sauce, brown sugar, then shredded mozarella on top. Was one of my favorites and was super cheap to make. Love the channel, btw!
In all my years I have never thought to put rice or noodles with the canned soup! I actually do not mind the tomato based soups but was never a big fan of cream sauces/soups....still am not but my son did find a dish that he made that is true pasta alfredo. Luckily for me I am blessed to be able to not have to struggle with food now that I am an empty nester and it's just me (well..now my son is back home). But for those of you who are struggling with a family, I have been there with a family of 5 and both parents unemployed so I get it. And with the prices these days....well...you know. I still look for the best prices (drives my son nuts) for all things. I almost never pay full price if I don't have to. It just takes a bit of creativity like these meals to survive and feel full. Thank you for sharing and always giving an honest review of your concoctions.
Thank you for sharing! That makes me happy because I thought that even if the idea of this video would be considered common practice, there is always someone out there who may need the information so it’s always worth sharing. I for one never ate canned soup as anything but canned soup and someone turned me onto the idea of eating it over rice or potatoes and it’s been such a game changer. Especially when I need quick meals that are small portions just for myself and don’t want to eat leftovers for days 🥰
Your account is always saving my butt! I can’t even tell you how often I make a mental note of a recipe you share with us and then end up making it at the end of the week when the pantry is down to the wire. Thanks for all the work you put into this!
My mom recently got laid off and even though our family is doing okay I’ve been watching your recipes for meals and trying them since we’ve been finding ways to save on food/doing more meal prep.
I just found your channel today. I love your content. These are great, cheap, quick meals. I'd eat 2 days in a row and take leftovers for breakfast or lunch to work the next day.
Love this! You can also buy those $1-2 bags of frozen vegetables while you're at the same store, then match what makes sense to the soups to bulk them up. Any cream based soup tastes great with those "california blend" vegetables that have broccoli, carrots and cauliflower. The more tomatoy soups are great with potatoes, onions, peppers.
One of my go-to comfort meals is super simple and delicious! All you need is one small can of diced tomatoes (with the juice) and one can of soup. Progresso has some great options for this, like Protein Style Bean and Pasta, Vegetable Classics Tuscan-Style White Bean, or Vegetable Classics Macaroni and Bean. I call it my "Poor Man's Pasta Fagioli," and it's as cozy as it sounds! I like to toss everything into my small crock pot (1.5 - 2 qt size) and let it warm up. If I set it on low in the morning around breakfast time, it’s ready for dinner; on high, it’s good to go by lunch. Since I've been working remotely for over three years, prepping meals at home is a breeze. But even back when I worked in an office, I’d bring my mini crock pot (I actually have two!) and set it up in the office kitchen. It's such an easy, hearty meal that makes the whole day feel a little brighter! As the old commercial used to say, "I can't believe I ate the whole thing!", but I used to be able to do it.
Great idea using rice to bulk up a can soup. Soup over backed potatoes.... you've given me some great inexpensive meals. When we were young, 5 kids, my Mom used to make soup, homemade or can, and cut in quarters, pieces of canned biscuits. To use as dumplings in the soup. We loved it ❤
In your last video you mentioned that people asked about your small casserole dish. I wanted to make you aware that I found a really nice small casserole dish with a cover at Aldi's a couple of days ago. They had a sizable display of them so they are probably still available. Here are the details: Ceramic baking dish with lid $8.99. Oven safe up to 450 degrees. Interior is slightly less than 8 inches square. Capacity is 45 ounces. Dish is microwave and dishwasher safe. The quality is excellent.
I thought I'd share this just in case it is happening in your area. The 1lb ground beef (that's normally $5) was marked down to $1.25. They are changing the packaging or something. If it's marked down in your area, it won't be for long. I hope that works for someone. PS, taking clam chowder to an office will make your officemates frown at you. That smell never goes away!
Omg the twice baked potato idea is GENIUS 🤯😮 --back now that i finished the video and i was also mind blown over the burrito. Ive done rice, noodles, and biscuits, but the other two never would have occurred to me in a million years.
I am lactose intolerant so I'm very appreciative of the fact that you're providing recipes for the rest of us almost didn't watch this video because I was assuming you're going to have can cream of something soup like every other video so I'm very appreciative I actually have solid options
I do the Sirloin Burger Chunky soup over cooked egg noodles and it is delicious . I also will pour it over mashed potatoes. Using soup definitely stretches a meal. Great video!
One meal I make is 3 Can Soup. A can of Vegetable Soup, a can of Black Beans, a can of Corn the last two drained dumped together, stir, season to taste makes a quick and filling soup with several portions. I also have in the past poured a super hearty Chunky Soup over a Baked Potato for another yum dinner - I typed this option before seeing you did the same. A casserole style meal is a third option I have done pouring the soup into an oven proof dish and topped with biscuits
I have to be honest when I saw the cans of soup and biscuits I was about to click off but I love your videos and ideas so I waited to see what you were going to do and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised! Most of these ideas I have never thought to do! I just had soup and grilled cheese with my husband because I bought a lot of canned goods and they were getting close to the date and I have so many soups! Now I have been inspired to do so much more than just heat it up and make grilled cheese which my husband really wasn’t that excited about! Lol!! Thank you!
I always end up with random soups around me that no one will attempt to cook with, so they just expire and add to the waste pile. Seeing things like this inspire me to work with what is there to ensure there is flavor and balance. I have a tremendous amount of frozen veggies as well, that I chopped up fresh and froze, and adding that will add nutrients to the flavor. Thank you for showing us so many different ways to create something out of seemingly nothing, you just make it look so easy 😊 I wish I would have had this kind of easy access lesson when I was growing up, but I'm happy to have it now! Thank you for sharing with us
These are great ideas! I like to cook a little quinoa and add it to Progresso lentil soup. It’s so good. You can add it to another video as meal option.
New subscriber here. Great ideas. I sometimes find the chunky beef soup on sale and heat it up and serve it over hot rice. My family loves it and it’s very filling too. I can’t wait to try the broccoli soup and potato recipe.
Thank you for your ideas. Always good to have alternatives! I find the progresso soups to be more brothy so I’ve always “bulked” them up. Love adding a can of GV mixed veggies then serving over potatoes or rice or biscuits. Love adding pintos to the chicken enchilada soup. So many filling and nutritious ways to stretch your food money.
@@addictedLS that sounds great, we use ramen quite a bit, my grandkids all have their own ramen cooker. We had ramen with stir fry veggies and some hoisin added in. Had grilled chicken on the side.
You are amazing! You got me with the soup rice and all the others! This is a game changer for me. I'm so sick of the same thing over and over. You are really good on camera by the way. Thank You so much for doing all the testing on these soups. Easy peasy and good! God Bless. Hugs,Rebekah
I always find myself watching each video a couple of times. I love how you think of every kind of situation a person might be facing and then show them how to make a tasty, inexpensive meal. I love how much thought must go into these videos! I am glad your channel exists. :)
Just a tip: for your soup cupcakes, you can use the layer biscuits and split them in half and press into your muffin tins and fill them up with goodness, turns 8 soup cupcakes into 16, making each one less "bready".
I’m excited to try the chicken pot pie biscuit idea! I’m really impressed because I’ve never thought about making meals with canned soup before. It’s actually really smart because there’s veggies there’s and there’s flavor. 😮 just add rice, pasta, or potato!

Lots of great ideas and we love soup options. Thx We also will pour the soup into a baking dish and use the biscuits or instant potatos as a topper then bake/broil until browned and top with cheese.
I absolutely love this video! I am a big fan of soup and simple meals in general. Instead of using crackers all the time, now I have some great ideas to mix it up. These look so good and filling that even my husband will eat it. I also watch southern frugal mama and I'd love to try a combo of one of y'alls recipe.. you made pot pie biscuits. She made dumplins with cream of chicken and biscuits. 💡 A can of pot pie soup, some milk to make it creamier and tear up some biscuits and add to heated soup for pot pie dumplins. Can't wait to try!
Great ideas Rebecca . The baked potato recipes are underrated in my opinion . They are cost effective , filling and taste great with plenty of variety .
I really love these ideas. It's perfect for the type of meals I have taught my preteens and teens to make. A few simple cooking techniques, very inexpensive, but a big payout on taste!
This was such a great idea! I usually do the country beef chunky soup over rice. I love the idea of cooking the rice in the broth then adding the veggie mix and putting in a tortilla or even like a crust or biscuit for a hot pocket! I would have never thought to use the soup or broth to cook rice in, thanks so much for the ideas!

I'm a retired firefighter. Many years ago, I worked with a guy who had served in the Vietnam war. Whenever we cooked biscuits, he had to leave the kitchen when we opened the container. The "pop" the container made when opening reminded him of an initial sound from some type of munition. He suffered from PTSD before we really knew what it was. Thanks for these videos.

Love these ideas. Soup doesn’t fill me up either but I like these pairing ideas. You have also shown me some new soup flavors that I’ll be looking for! I’m hoping to find such deals on the soup too now that cooler months are approaching, lol.
I did JUST make the "pot pie" with a Chunky Sirloin. I strained the can and boiled/reduced the broth to something like a gravy. I was leery that the biscuits would somehow not fully cook or crisp up, but they did. I am not, right now, rigidly constrained by budget, but this is economical AND adds a variety. Thank you, ma'am, for your channel and ideas.
Love these ideas. I am a soup person, but get tired of it sometimes. Also love that these are perfect for one or two people. Much as I love cooking one big meal and eating it all week, it does get old after a while. Definitely keeping these ideas in my back pocket next grocery run.
LOVE these ideas ! while I need to watch my salt intake ( have high blood pressure ) it's not like I would be eating it every day lol. I am not a big fan of canned soup either so I really appreciate your take on using them in a different way ! and lord knows with the price of food STILL increasing and the hubby and I being on a limited income your price point is amazing 💞 appreciate you so much !!!!!!!!!!!!

When you make those mini pot pies, depending on the brand, the soup can be too watery for filling. You can add some of the instant potatoe mix to thicken the soup liquid. It also increases the feeling of fullness when eating.
You hit it out of the park with these easy, budget friendly, delicious meals. So much creativity. Thank you. I will be trying the loaded potato this week because I actually have those items. 🙂
Wow!!! once again BRILLIANT. I find that turning the potato over half way through baking in the microwave cooks it more evenly...I use the potato function on my microwave usually put in 1 potato, flip them over, repeat, until they are baked to my liking.

You work so hard to bring us great meal ideas, so I wanted to give back a little bit. Thanks for all you do!
I appreciate that! Thank you so much! 🥰
Lord I just love your channel and videos!! As a single person thats not broke but just financially challenged you give me so very many ideas ❤ thank you darlin. Love from Central Illinois ❤ 💕 ♥
You are so welcome! I’m glad you enjoy them!
Everything about you and your channel is AWESOME, simply awesome. What a wonderful kindness you are giving to so many in need. Thank you.
Thank you so much 😄
Aww, everybody loves ya ! 🥳
Growing up, my mom used to flatten the pre-made biscuits for personal pizzas. Easy & yummy dinner hack!
Your mom was genius.
I think this video is about to change my life! I never thought of using soups for recipes like this! Love it
My mom used to make those little biscuit pies for us as kids with ground beef browned with a little bbq sauce, brown sugar, then shredded mozarella on top. Was one of my favorites and was super cheap to make. Love the channel, btw!
My mom did too. Except cheddar cheese.
@@kj7653 So good, right?!
Great video. Please do more videos using soups as a base. Dollar Tree, Dollar General, Family dollar and Walmart.
Will do!!
Such a smart idea!
I love this! My grandmother used to serve beef stew over egg noodles. Good memories!
We loved it ❤
These are great ideas. I love adding pasta, rice or potatoes to my soups to help them go further
Great way to make 1 can of soup feed 2 or make it an overall larger portion and more satisfying
My husband LOVES the Campbell's bean with bacon soup and LOVES potatoes....I think I've got an idea😊
Haha good tip on the clam chowder 🥰
keep these soup meals coming please
I’m glad you liked them!
Omg the twice baked potato idea is GENIUS 🤯😮
--back now that i finished the video and i was also mind blown over the burrito. Ive done rice, noodles, and biscuits, but the other two never would have occurred to me in a million years.
Love this video! I'm 69 and you were able to teach this old dog a few new tricks! THANK YOU❣️
The canned chili Mac will be so good with cornbread mix ❤ I love your channel so much struggling on a fixed income this help so much
Oh yes!
I am lactose intolerant so I'm very appreciative of the fact that you're providing recipes for the rest of us almost didn't watch this video because I was assuming you're going to have can cream of something soup like every other video so I'm very appreciative I actually have solid options
This is great. 😀 love the pot pie muffins idea.
It's so good!
Lol!! Thank you!
I’m glad you stuck around! And hopefully got some unique ideas 🥰
Supposedly canned goods are ok to eat for a long time (years) after the best buy date so long as can is in good condition.
Great tip! Thank you!
New subscriber here. Great ideas. I sometimes find the chunky beef soup on sale and heat it up and serve it over hot rice. My family loves it and it’s very filling too. I can’t wait to try the broccoli soup and potato recipe.
Thanks for subbing! I'm glad you got some new ideas!
You always have amazing suggestions to change things up while not spending a lot of money. Thank you for all that you do!!
Happy to help! 🥰
I sometimes throw a pack of ramen (depending on the soup flavor I might add 1/2 ramen seasoning) and some veggies for a real hearty supper!
@@addictedLS that sounds great, we use ramen quite a bit, my grandkids all have their own ramen cooker. We had ramen with stir fry veggies and some hoisin added in. Had grilled chicken on the side.
@@jerrieanderson2245 ramen is so transformative! That sounds delicious 😋 thanks for sharing!
@@addictedLSthe
You are amazing! You got me with the soup rice and all the others! This is a game changer for me. I'm so sick of the same thing over and over. You are really good on camera by the way. Thank You so much for doing all the testing on these soups. Easy peasy and good! God Bless. Hugs,Rebekah
I always find myself watching each video a couple of times. I love how you think of every kind of situation a person might be facing and then show them how to make a tasty, inexpensive meal. I love how much thought must go into these videos! I am glad your channel exists. :)
I love soup and these recipes are so versatile for a quick lunch. Also cans of soup are a great store cupboard ingredient. Great video.
Love the twice baked potato idea!
Love the recipes and the shirt. ❤️
Thank you! The shirt is my new Dollar Tree Dinners brand shirt 🥰
Don't know if you have ever made this,I'm kinda new to your channel, but a good way to use the chunky sirloin burger soup is mix it with cooked pasta and cheese. So good. ❤
the biscuit wells would be good in the large muffin tins. good idea!
A life-saver
We are moving from Arizona to Virginia heading out on Saturday. These are great ideas to help finish out the week and helpful once we arrive. I'm trying to clean out the fridge and this will help for that also..thank you!
😅I like to add a can of tuna to cream of mushroom soup and serve over toast or biscuits. Can also serve over rice or pasta, but I like toast the most
Biscuits with chicken pot pie soup! What an innovative idea.
Awesome segment 😮. I love your content.
Thank you!
The broccoli cheese soup stuffed potato is fantastic idea.
I really love these ideas. It's perfect for the type of meals I have taught my preteens and teens to make.
A few simple cooking techniques, very inexpensive, but a big payout on taste!
As always, these are brilliant ideas! I was especially impressed by the twice baked potato "hack"!
You do such an amazing job combining creativity with practicality in your meal suggestions.
So glad I found this video today!! Krogers has Campbell's soup for 99¢!! So many great ideas. That twice baked potato looks so yummy!! Thanks!
Morning ! I remember my Mom making soup with all the leftovers . She would be happy to see your Videos with meals being made with soups . Thank You for Sharing 😇 Have a Great Weekend !
"Starteling!" Too funny..it happens every time! Beautiful kitchen you have!
Adding seasoning (not salt of course) that you have on hand bumps up the flavors too of canned soups. Great ideas!
I just love your channel! You always inspire me…tonight I used soup to make a rice cooker dish. It was so good! I never thought of that before. You’re awesome!
I love the versatility you show. You’re such a creative cook! I love these Dollar Tree Meals and get that it’s your brand but if you ever develop a from scratch video or channel, I’d love to see that too!
Rebecca. I love watching your channel. Your menus, meals, and sweet spirit are lovely to watch. You look fantastic!!!❤😊
I don't really care much for canned biscuits, but they look really good as the bread in your muffin cups!
Frozen biscuits are great if you don’t like canned, a little more expensive but I prefer them over canned
So glad you liked them!
I actually enjoyed this quite a bit! Please make a part 2!
That pot pie idea is so clever! I love it.
Great ideas, that look so easy for my stressed out brain to handle. You have no idea how follow every last step you give. You get all the gratitude I can give! 🙏🏾
I'm so glad you enjoy them and that it's easy for you to follow!
I loved this video. So many great ideas that are quick and easy but delicious. The broccoli soup and baked potato looked so filling and yummy.
I love these recipes! I'm a newer viewer I subscribed a few weeks ago I am so glad I found your channel! I love your videos for inexpensive meals and meal prep! We are limited with choices due to budget and only one vehicle so a lot of times we walk to the store which is not far from us but only stores close by are dollar tree and DG. We buy half our groceries at DT and half at food lion. Our DT recently just got all the plus freezer foods I was so excited for that! I am definitely gonna try the chicken pot pie biscuit/muffins they looked so good! Thank you for making these videos for options on a tight budget! One thing that is hard is sometimes you end up eating a lot of the same things in the week. I love the creative options so you don't get bored!
I'm really glad I found your channel. You've given me lots of great ideas for different meals that my kids are actually going to like. They are going to love the biscuits and soup one. Thanks
you have given me so much hope in these hard times❤ so glad to see all the people you are helping too, this is definitely your calling
When you make those mini pot pies, depending on the brand, the soup can be too watery for filling. You can add some of the instant potatoe mix to thicken the soup liquid. It also increases the feeling of fullness when eating.
I love canned soup. I appreciate the way you are showing me how to use it in different ways.
You’re killing it with these ideas!!!! Thank u!
Im so grateful for your channel in this economy i know allot of us especially with kids need budget friendly ideas to keep our families fed 💜
I just made the biscuits and pot pie soup They we’re delicious
these are great ideas! i also generally hate soup as just a meal but I'll be picking some up to make some of these meals. These help a lot with my dad who wants food fast and sometimes i can keep him from buying fast food with your meal ideas. :-D
I never thought of removing the liquid from the soup and using it first. Great idea!
This is one of my absolute favorite videos you have made! Thank you 🙏
The leftover cream sauce from the can of pot pie soup you could heat up and pour over the mini pot pies if you like a little more sauce 😋
