I grew up with hamburger gravy on toast. My ex-husband once last minute invited a friend over when I was making it for us for dinner. I grabbed a bag of egg noodles from the pantry and made them with a simple butter sauce. I put the gravy in the middle in a pile and then made a ring with the noodles and sprinkled the entire thing with sesame seeds. Our guest said "I wish my wife could cook like this." I thought wow, it's just hamburger gravy extended with some noodles. Of course, I once made one stuffed chicken feed a whole 4-family apartment building for Christmas when he found out no one had food for the holiday. Everyone was super happy with a sliver of chicken with gravy and a tiny scoop of each of the 5-6 sides that I threw together adding a side or two each time a new apartment joined the party unexpectedly.
I work at a small community college and some of my students who stay on campus in the summer are sometimes left hanging in the wind for meals. They work with me cleaning dorms and do get paid some but not a lot. They can get some help from the campus food pantry but it is limited. I've referred them to your channel many times and they have great results! Thank you for this and please keep these videos coming :-)
My whole life I got weird looks for mixing my corn and mashed potatoes together. Then KFC did it and now everybody forgets that it's an established thing I've always done.
This is my favorite cooking channel ever. So laid back, relaxed, relatable and affordable. I think that's enough adjectives? 😅lol I just really love this channel and I'm so glad I found it!
My husband has always had to put corn in his mashed potatoes and gravy. Of all our 15 yrs together I’ve never seen him eat them separate from each other. And growing up my dad would make Shepherd’s Pie quite often. He’d make it whenever we had left over mashed potatoes. But he’d switch up the filling, sometimes brown gravy, ground beef and various veggies. He’s also done a tomato based sauce and also a cream of mushroom in stead of gravy. He’s also made it with left over beef pot roast instead of ground beef.
Great job on the pronunciation of paté chinois! It's one of my fav comfort foods (if not the #1 fav). I hadn't realized until today that shepherd's pie is with peas and carrots since I am french Canadian we've only ever eaten pâté chinois. Thank you so much for these videos I watch them and rewatch them every day and you have helped me to become more creative with my cooking especially with these incredibly high prices. I don't have a dollar tree here in Québec but the ideas have translated into easy meals I can make on my own. Keep doing these please!! ❤❤
Uuuuummmmm... American Michigander here.. never heard of a brown gravy Shepards pie 😅 that's always been a pot pie thing - learned something new today 😄
This is fantastic! As a single dude this would give me so many lunches and dinners!!!! Thanks for the great, budget friendly meal ideas. I love your content!!!
the breakfast biscuit idea I have made before! I make it with the $0.89 cent store brand canned biscuit (I can get the little 10 biscuit cans from my Hannaford) but i bet you could "dollop" the prepped bag/box biscuit mix. I set my oven to the temp my biscuits require to cook. Then, I scramble my sausage chub & also fry up one of them 4 packs of bacon and set to the side. Next, mix up about 8 eggs with some milk (say a smidge under 1/4 cup) and set that to the side/ Prep up that gravy packet and shred your cheese if you need. I have an 8X10 glass baking dish that I spray with non stick spray ( you could even grease it with butter) and pour half the eggs mix into the dish. dollop the biscuit mix or cut your canned biscuits into 5 or 6 pieces, each then sprinkle the meats over that. sprinkle half the cheese on that and then pour on the rest of the egg over all that, and bake after about 20 mins, pull out the casserole, and sprinkle on the rest of that cheese and bake till the biscuits are done - just search out a blob-o-biscuit and fork it to see the fluffy, lol. then eat that baby UP! ( my kids use sriracha on theirs..)
Have you tried to make a dollar tree quiche I feel like now that eggs are back there is a lot you could do to make a quiche. For the crust I feel like biscuit dough or a flour tortilla could work in a pie pan. A more experimental route would be a hash brown crust if your store has those instant potatoes shreds. The toppings could be sausage, beef, frozen veggies (salsa to give it a different flavor profile)
I really appreciate your description of making the gravy. I didn’t really think about it’s corn starch ingredient, and putting in cold water makes more sense.
I enjoy your channel. You recipes are creative and delicious. If anyone thinks the hamburger/corn/gravy dinner is gross looking, then they've never been hungry and broke! But, even though I'm not either at this point in my life, I still really enjoy this dish!
I used to make the breakfast pizza for my kids when they were little. It was in the early 80’s and I was an assistant mgr at Pizza Hut. I’d take home raw pizza dough and make this. The only thing I did differently I’d put tater tot’s around the crust and the rest of the ingredients the same way you did. Always a huge hit. I love your videos! So creative. Thanks for sharing 😊
A local pizz chain called PIZZA INN has a breakfast pizza very similar to what you made and its great. They also have a loaded baked potato pizza that I must order every time. The sauce is ranch based. Sliced potatos. Bacon cheese and green onion. I cant stress enough how good it is. U need to make your version of it
Love to see the pate chinois! My mom is french Canadian and the deconstructed version of this dish was a weeknight staple. Instead of gravy mix, she'd use a can of cream of mushroom soup! It's so simple and so delicious and so comforting. It's good cold on toast the next day, too, if you have a lot extra! 8D
Sausage and gravy quesadillas are amazing too. Just put the ingredients in a tortilla dold in half and grill in a pan for like 4 min a side ! Or use biscit mix and cover the bottom of your pizza pan and bake then add your toppings omg !!Yummy !!
The meatball and pasta soup looks good and will fit into a lot of peoples budget. In Australia we do not have Hunts Sauces in the stores so am looking for a substitute. Good video.
I love those pizza crusts!!! Im a thin crust chick and they're just right!!!! So happy to see you today!!! You and Dollar Tree.....2 of my favorites!!!! PS.... I have no problem throwing everything together on a plate!! I love mashed potatoes and green peas mixed together with gravy on it 😂
I don't usually buy food at the dollar store, but these recipes look delicious, and I'm going to recreate them using ingredients from my freezer and pantry. I'm also going to take a look at the food selections in our neighborhood Dollar Tree so that I can save more money on next month's budget. Keep these tasty recipes coming!
The alfredo looks amazing! I have always cooked my pasta separate, but I'm going give this one a try. Your water ratio was perfect this time. One thing I have started doing when I use DT hamburger or ground turkey from the store is adding Worcestershire sauce. It seems to give the meat a more hamburger/steak flavor. My DT doesn't have eggs back yet. Another winner video. 46,000 subs🥳🥳🥳
Not yet? I’m surprised they don’t have them, my store got them and they’ve been selling quick! They had a whole fridge and then a day later just a couple of shelves. People missed eggs at dollar tree
I make the ground beef sos fairly often w/o the corn, I like it over tots , fries,or a baked potato. Looking at your order has me thinking of sos using canned alfredo sauce..... Ive had sausage gravy over a lot of things, toast, tots, biscuits, waffles but never considered pizza!! GREAT IDEA! Using the premade crust can help someone with less kitchen skills feel like they can make this. The alfredo sausage looked great, Im not a soup fan but that looked really tasty, some grated cheese would add the salt.. You could swap the meats in the last two dishes and have different tastes or use canned chicken or tuna in either one. That would cost a little more though because DT's canned chicken/tuna/ham are kind of small
The pasta soup looks good! I use Campbell’s tomato soup & an envelope of pasta sauce mix instead of the can of pasta sauce for a less acidic broth. Maybe I’ll add carrots & zucchini too. Can’t wait to try. TFS 💕
My mom came up with something similar to your deconstructed shepherds pie, by frying hamburger and putting cans of condensed vegetable soup in it. She may have added a little water, to make more gravy, since the soup was condensed, but it was two ingredients, plus mashed potatoes! She named it Quickie.
I absolutely love your channel! I do Dollartree hauls on my channel and came across yours a few weeks ago and I’ve been stuck watching all your videos!
This is almost like S.O.S. (Shizz on a shingle.) I make my own with mushroom gravy mix, plant based meat, over oven fried potatoes or garlic toast. I'm going to try your version, but instead of sausage, I'm using sauteed seasoned cabbage in the gravy. Great video. Love and peace from WI! 🙂💖💯
When my mom made shepard's pie (or more accurately cottage pie since this uses beef instead of lamb), she always used cream of mushroom soup as the binding agent. I feel like that's super similar to what you did here.
Totally grew up with that pie!! ❤❤❤ Never knew there was a history to it. Awesome 👍 I'm totally making this grocery list a go to this week... can't do eggs so veggies on the pizza are going to have to do. Looking yummy 😋
I have not a creative bone in my body...so bad that I didn't even know you could make rice krispy treats with anything besides rice krispies. Thank you for your simple yet delicious yet affordable meal ideas 😋. God Bless 🙏
I just found you yesterday. You are so creative…. I prefer 4 recipes per video. Even three recipes and one dessert would be awesome. Thank you for all you do.
When I was growing up we had milk cows, so white gravy was on the table almost every night. I would put it on all my vegetables. If we had mashed potatoes and creamed corn, I would put the corn over my potatoes. To that meatball soup, I would add a can of pork and beans for a riff on pasta e fagioli, plus it would help to stretch the soup a little further if you needed to fill a couple extra hungry tummies. I look forward to more of these "4 for $20" videos.
Yes! I was thinking get one of those bags of chicken strips in the freezer section at DT (at least you can get them at the DT near me) and toss that in with it too!
Your patè chenois looks great! So does the breakfast pizza. I was really lucky learning how to cook from my mom and grandmas, who cooked like you do. One of my favorite quick meals is rice, meatballs and mushroom soup straight from the can. Delish!
My mom or us kids did most of the cooking, large family with older siblings. Sometimes my dad would cook and he was a kid during the depression. Times were tough, he mash tators and pour cans of hot vegetable beef soup, not water down, on top of the mashed tators. We actually liked it. Kinda reminds m of the shepherds pie dish. New Englander, and we made Shepherds pie with corn, actually prefer carrots and peas, love carrots.
Yummy first meal...as a child I always broke up my hamburger and mixed it with my mashed potatoes...corn too.😉 Second meal...oh yum. Only change I would have to make is to make it all gluten free...they look so yummy that is just what I'm going to do.😊
My father's family is Canadian and I live in New England where Canadian Shepherds Pie was even served to us in the school cafeteria and have never once had it with white gravy - that must be a southern US adaptation. That said, it does look good. I might do it with sausage instead of beef and see what my Southern husband and our hybrid kid think ;-)
There are several variations on shepherds pie. Like using tater tots on top instead of mashed potatoes. And I've also used the au gratin and scalloped potatoes on top also.(not at the same time)
I think that beef gravy looks yummy. We make SOS sometimes but with beef lunchmeat and veggies. That I would try. If I knew how to make gravy. lol. Breakfast pizza looks yummy. I don't shop at dollar tree too much. But these are great ideas anyways. Love them. New sub here. Need to try the pasta dish. Yum.
Thank you! These meals all look great and I’m about to do the breakfast pizza on some wraps! I love your delivery I love your accessibility concerns as well as pricing concerns! Keep on doing what you’re doing! Always looking forward to your new videos! You make my day! 🌹🌹🌹
On the piza one, something else you could do is make breakfast tortillas if you choose to not use the oven, or breakfast quesadillas .....just a thought. I love watching your videos, lots of really good ideas, and very practical too. Thank you for sharing ❤️

My whole life I got weird looks for mixing my corn and mashed potatoes together. Then KFC did it and now everybody forgets that it's an established thing I've always done.
I have always loved mixing Cream Corn with Mashed Potatoes yumm
Lol I’ve always done that too. Also how I eat my peas and carrots . I hate peas and carrots.
Doesn't that just make you mad?!
My sister has always sworn by mixing mashed potatoes and corn together her entire life. You are not alone! 😄
I do that too. So does KFC
I'm 61 years old and yet I learn something new from you every time I watch you cook.
Aww thank you! 🥰
2nd generations Italians told me once that if you sprinkle some sugar in your tomato sauce it cuts down on the acid. I tried it and it works.
Carrots works too (I don't personally like it with sugar)
Instead of sugar try a pinch of two of baking soda. It neutralizes the acid in tomato t
I always add sugar in my tomato sauce it's a game changer❤
Thanks for the suggestions! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The Food Network does not know what they are missing by not giving you your own show!
I wished they would. I do like the Food Network. But most of the shows. Just aren’t relatable or budget friendly. She is both.
I respectfully disagree - here she can do whatever she wants when she wants and her own schedule - take time off - family time - etc.
@@candya9971I agree!
My mom used to buy frozen breakfast pizzas that had cream gravy, scrambled eggs, cheese and sausage- idk why I never thought of making my own version!
The DT garlic bread would be good with the soup
I know I sound repetitive but any time I see that you have posted a new video I drop everything to watch. You are so gifted at this!
This is my favorite cooking channel ever. So laid back, relaxed, relatable and affordable. I think that's enough adjectives? 😅lol I just really love this channel and I'm so glad I found it!

one of the best comfort foods, hamburg gravy/ mashed potatoes.
Or over bread
Your content has helped me figure out how to eat on the cheap! I love it!
I have high blood pressure, so instead of salt to cut acidic foods I use sugar just a little goes a long way.
That breakfast pizza looks fantastic - I am definitely trying that!

I’m so glad I wasn’t the only one that didn’t know shepherds pie was typically made with peas and carrots until I was grown lol 😂
Uuuuummmmm... American Michigander here.. never heard of a brown gravy Shepards pie 😅 that's always been a pot pie thing - learned something new today 😄

I really appreciate your description of making the gravy. I didn’t really think about it’s corn starch ingredient, and putting in cold water makes more sense.
This is a tip I learned from her. I learn so much for her videos.
I think adding a can of the sliced potatoes and beef broth instead of water would be phenomenal in the meatball soup
This is the only way i knew how shepards pie was made. I grew up on this kind too! Very yummy 😊
absolutely obsessed with your channel
Thank you! 😊
I enjoy your channel. You recipes are creative and delicious. If anyone thinks the hamburger/corn/gravy dinner is gross looking, then they've never been hungry and broke! But, even though I'm not either at this point in my life, I still really enjoy this dish!
That is how it got it's more popular name, lol. It never looks delicious but it's a great comfort food kind of dish that always tastes good!
I used to make the breakfast pizza for my kids when they were little. It was in the early 80’s and I was an assistant mgr at Pizza Hut. I’d take home raw pizza dough and make this. I would be Interested in seeing how a biscuit mix pizza crust would turn out!
Definitely will try it in the future!
It works well coming from experience. Cook the crust for a bit first 😋
I’m french canadian so your paté chinois recipe really hits close to home ❤️
Love to see the pate chinois! My mom is french Canadian and the deconstructed version of this dish was a weeknight staple. Instead of gravy mix, she'd use a can of cream of mushroom soup! It's so simple and so delicious and so comforting. It's good cold on toast the next day, too, if you have a lot extra! 8D
I love how simple your meals are but legit so creative! I have everything in the house to make that Cajun Alfredo dish! Yum!
Great video. I used to love Cici's Pizza. My family was so bummed when the only one near us closed several years ago.
I love the hamburger corn on top of mashed potato yum
Yay you did the breakfast pizza!!!!!
I'm going to make my husband the breakfast pizza when he gets home this weekend. He's on his way to upstate NY right now ❤
Sausage and gravy quesadillas are amazing too. Just put the ingredients in a tortilla dold in half and grill in a pan for like 4 min a side ! Or use biscit mix and cover the bottom of your pizza pan and bake then add your toppings omg !!Yummy !!

My Dollar Tree doesn't carry eggs at all.
These are like ultimate comfort foods!
The breakfast pizza is my favorite. Tfs. Blessings!!

Love and peace from WI!
🙂💖💯
Mashed potatoes, corn, hamburger and gravy are the bomb!! So good! And yes, I am French-Canadian💙
I love all the ideas and mix and match recommendations.
We love breakfast pizzas on bagels. So yummy! Velveeta cheesesauce or queso makes an awesome pizza sauce as well.
When my mom made shepard's pie (or more accurately cottage pie since this uses beef instead of lamb), she always used cream of mushroom soup as the binding agent. I feel like that's super similar to what you did here.

Sausage and gravy pizza looks good! I agree that I wouldn’t want veggies mixed into it!
Totally grew up with that pie!! ❤❤❤ Never knew there was a history to it. Awesome 👍 I'm totally making this grocery list a go to this week... can't do eggs so veggies on the pizza are going to have to do. Looking yummy 😋
I grew up eating a version of first one but with brown gravy& Worcestershire sauce, we also had it curried for a change.
I'm so glad I found your channel! Thank you!
I have not a creative bone in my body...so bad that I didn't even know you could make rice krispy treats with anything besides rice krispies.
Thank you for your simple yet delicious yet affordable meal ideas 😋. God Bless 🙏
So glad I found this video ‼️ Struggle has been real this year. This will help me with the last week's stretch until my next paycheck. Thank you.
I just found you yesterday. You are so creative…. I prefer 4 recipes per video. Even three recipes and one dessert would be awesome. Thank you for all you do.
Love all of you videos and ideas ❤❤
They all look yummy
For the Breakfast Pizza, small individual flatbreads would give everyone their own pizza, and the toppings of their choice.
I definitely need to make that dollar tree breakfast pizza!
You should try Shepard's pie with bbq as the sauce. It's so amazing
It's also good with Thai Kitchen red curry sauce.
the pizza looks fire.
i would load it up with hot sauce.
The first one reminds me of a KFC famous bowl
Yes! I was thinking get one of those bags of chicken strips in the freezer section at DT (at least you can get them at the DT near me) and toss that in with it too!
Love KFC famous bowls! I’ve done a dollar tree version of it and it’s so on point
I like how you do several recipes in one video.
Love Love your videos.
Your patè chenois looks great! So does the breakfast pizza. I was really lucky learning how to cook from my mom and grandmas, who cooked like you do. One of my favorite quick meals is rice, meatballs and mushroom soup straight from the can. Delish!
Thank you for the ideas!
I'm always so impressed with your creativity! Great meal ideas!!
I love your channel! I love how you present everything, such a easy calming and informative style. Thanks again.
Yummy first meal...as a child I always broke up my hamburger and mixed it with my mashed potatoes...corn too.😉 Second meal...oh yum. Only change I would have to make is to make it all gluten free...they look so yummy that is just what I'm going to do.😊
I can easily eat simple food like the mashed potatoes with gravy, corn yum!
Another good/great video! Your I enjoy listening to your delivery every time! I will be trying these recipes. ❤presentation is always wonderful!
I would never have thought of a breakfast sausage gravy pizza! I can't wait to try it! Thanks so much❣️🙂
Hamburger gravy over mashed potatoes was a childhood favorite of mine. I still make it from time to time.
The hamburger gravy sounds pretty good. Wonder about making it with brown gravy?
Thank you so much for your content. This is awesome for those on a budget.
This was so inspiring ❤
My father's family is Canadian and I live in New England where Canadian Shepherds Pie was even served to us in the school cafeteria and have never once had it with white gravy - that must be a southern US adaptation. I know you probably won't see this. But thank you for all your help that you do for easy recipes. Please keep up the good work❤
You are so welcome!
Everything looks really good!
WoW everything looks so good
I am glad I found this Chanel, you can really eat good on a budget 😋
I love hamburger gravy, only the brown gravy. It's so so good!
