Love, love, LOVE this! 2 years ago I weighed 7 stones and wasn‘t even strong enough to change the gears in my car. I now weigh 10 stone, am in the same clothes as before and now lift heavy. I used to be TERRIFIED of food and putting weight on and it took me a long time to work it out for myself and find out what was right for me. I now eat more than ever, when I want, and my weight stays steady. I follow intuitive eating with a rough macro goal. It‘s awesome that you guys care so much to help people and make sure they get it right, dispell all the awful dieting myths and help people re-learn their love for food. Food should be enjoyed, not feared. Keep up the great work!!!
love this! it's definitely a skewed perception that you need more protein than you actually do. Also KUDOS to Chelsea for not being afraid of carbs!! yes! 💪
Gaining weight intentionally for anyone is a scary deal, letting the reins loose a bit more to allow your body to grow and lose that tight control (especially if you come from an eating disordered past like me) can be very scary, but I think it is also a testament as to how we grow as people! I am now expecting a SuperBaby so as soon as the nausea goes away, allowing my body to grow especially while doing my workout channel and sharing this experience with my YT Family will be so exciting and even a little scary, but amazing and a blessing none the less!
One of the best nutrition related vids I've seen! As a PT and aspiring strength coach+licensed nutritionist (and as a vegan) I really appreciate both of your reasonable and well-rounded approaches to dieting. Thanks for putting this out there!
I think OP meant she is is glad Chelsea is in the fitness industry because she is credible and honest (and that she's NOT a money hungry, lazy "bad" coach with an agenda). At least that's how I took it.
This video was really helpful!! :) I was overweight my entire life and have been dieting for years and have to keep my calories really low to see any change. I decided to go on a bulk last year because I wanted to get strong and repair my metabolism.. I swear I gained 10lbs in a month and a half. I swear I wasn't even eating that much?! lol But it was so hard for me mentally to accept to see myself getting bigger again and I had to diet again to feel better about myself. It's such a struggle as a woman - bulking is a trauma lol whereas men typically feel empowered with the weight gain. THE STRUGGLE!
This was such a great topic. Also, sometimes I feel that people focus too much on the scale when dieting and it can sometimes be discouraging when trying to lose weight or even gaining weight. A lot of factors can come into play like water and what types of foods you have the night before. Whatever your goal is, it won't happen overnight and it will take some time and patience.
This is such an amazing video! Has really helped me with my cut, I was on a really low deficit but after watching this I upped my calorie intake by 300 and I'm still losing weight! Love these sort of videos! So helpful unlike a lot of other fitness youtubers..keep it up!!!
Today i didn't eat eggs for breakfast thanks to your videos and i will try to cut out as much animal products from my diet as i can for now. Thank you Brian :)
Brian's videos are so well produced and you can clearly tell the amount of passion he has for his channel compared to others. Should be up there with Christian Guzman.
hey! I just wanted to say a quick thanks! This video was great! You guys hit just about everything I wonder about. To be honest I didn't think I would stay interested the full 25min not anything towards you just a long time to listen to someone talk, but you didn't lose my interest for a second! thanks again you both are awesome !!!
Loving how you touch on critical topics and also relatable struggles that most of us face. Thank you for putting a lot of effort to ensure each video is beneficial and also engaging, entertaining and hilarious for your supporters here 💪💪💕
+Elly Ross thank you for such a kind comment I just understand that I'm not the end all be all or the most experienced so I try to provide information for anyone and everyone! :)
Great video! I went through the "high protein", very low carb phase when I had to stop exercising for 4-5 weeks. But then I continued it when I started working out again! It was definitely not a fun diet to follow at all. As of now, I eat mostly vegan or vegetarian so carbs are an essential part of my diet and I love 'em! Can't believe I ever cut them out!
Thank you guys so much for this. I've wanted to gain weight and have made 4kg gains through strength training, and this has really motivated me to keep going with this. You guys rock! Love from the UK
Both of you guys rock!! Thank you so much! Definitely food for thought. Already subscribe to both your pages and would love to see a diet series like Chelsea mentioned. Thanks again for sharing knowledge and discussing a great topic!!
Literally my two favorite youtubers and fitness enthusiasts are together in one video! I feel like christmas just happened all over again lmao but in all honesty this is such an awesome video, thanks for sharing this information, please keep em coming! (:
Loved this! And super awesome seeing Chelsea here too! :) Never thought about how after bulking up, afterwards, your cut will be a higher number, awesome, awesome point Chelsea. I wouldn't say I'm ready to start bulking yet (maintenance right now!) but it's definitely given me something to think about.
Chelsea has little ole me eating 390g of carbs a day! I've been bulking with her for 6 months. Started at 101, currently 110-111. BOOM!!!! Making GAINZZZZ!
You guys are my favorite. Such great information. I feel like I learned so much. Totally one of those girls dieting on 1500 or less. Working on building that muscle tho👌🏼
you guys are awesome! this down to earth knowledge is really helpful. I'm definitely going to lower my protein intake and start eating some more carbs. I think that'll make my diet way more pleasant.
I love your Choppin' it up's.. Have you ever considered uploading these into a an audio podcast form? I have limited data and always have to wait 'til I get home to watch these longer videos. Would love to be able to listen to them at the gym or in the car.
Also I honestly struggle with having a healthy relationship with food and it is so true that it effects the sustainability of your lifestyle. I am still struggling to have a healthy relationship with food and I know it is and will be an ongoing battle but videos like this honestly help so much
+Chloe J A healthy relationship with food comes from confidence in being able to be consistent in fitness and having the ability to successfully bulk and cut when you need to. This is hard! Food is loved when you can control how it affects your body
Loved this video!! It's making me re think my macros . I weigh around 150 and have been in a bit of a surplus trying to gain size and strength and just always thought you had to be getting your body weight in Protein. Def going to add some carb and lower my protein again. Thanks a lot and love both your channels :)
***** Women can't have a "masculine" body. Their genetics doesn't allow them to. They can have a "feminine" body. Just because she has more muscle mass doesn't mean she's masculine, it just makes you lazy for not working out and getting muscle.

hey Brian, just wanted to say that i love your videos, i think you are doing some wonderful things on this channel and don't stop being awesome! i wanted to ask you if you offer coaching as well?
I've never understood how some people struggle to get calories in when there are wonderful things like peanut butter. Carbs I can actually understand, since alot of them are very filling, but still. Lots of good topics, guys. Thanks.
This video really is so helpful. I'm recovering from anorexia/orthorexia and I've started strength training. At 5 ft 2, I've found that I'm eating nearly 2000 calories a day and it's super worrying for me, because it feels like it's SO much! I guess maybe my metabolism is revving up and hopefully I'm gaining muscle! It's hard because I don't weigh myself so I don't really know if I am gaining and I don't know if it's muscle or not!
This was great advice! Unfortunately all my friends still think carbs = fat. This is what I've been trying to tell them, you don't have to eat low carb to lose weight! I'll direct them to your channel.. maybe they'll take your guys' word for it
Hey! Just recently subscribed and in one of your videos you said you answered comments, so! I'm intrigued with your use of the word "awakened". Would you consider that coming from a spiritual aspect? Or a "getting it" aspect lol Also, absolutely loving the veganism. I've recently become vegetarian and I'm progressing to becoming a full on vegan. Also, just loving you! you seem really down to earth and respectful. Your acne video is what got me here. Totally appreciate when people open up on such a large scale like that.
This video couldn't have had better timing! I'm halfway through my weight loss but recently started much higher volume/intensity lifting. so if you're already an overweight person and you want to lose weight and put on muscle at the same time what would you recommend? Restricting calories to lose weight, but also sacrifice some of the muscle you may build? Or try to maintain weight while increasing muscle?

Chelsea! Have you been watching ThisGirlAudra? She's doing a very interesting series on Veganism vs. Eating Disorders at the moment which ties in with what you were talking about near the end :-) Thank you both for being real with the side effects of 'bulking'...I was at a deficit on and off for a while/YEARS, but now I'm trying to sustain a bulk for hormonal health and strength performance, and the last week I've been feeling insecure of my appearance, but now I feel more confident about the path I've chosen for the next few months :-)
you do need more protein it all depends on how intense you train and who says when you raise protein you have to lower carbs a balance diet is 60% carbs 20% protein and 20% fats with 1 g of protein per pound LBM not body weight and you should be good carb to protein ratio should be 3:1 the end
Protein intake is supposed to be x amount of grams Per kg body weight not by pounds if you're doing it by pounds you're consuming to much protein. If you're a body builder or a strength athlete 0.8 to 1.7 grams per kg body weight.
+boogey dan because I researched this and I do lift weights but I'm not very strong. Does that answer your questions. The numbers can be changed depending on what kind of training you do but it's still kg not lbs

Until today, I was too scared to increase calories and ended up bingeing because of it. Time to start eating more! +chelsealifts How do I determine the amount of calories to add?
I've been on the ultimate bulk, coming up about 9 years now. I've packed on around 100 lbs of fat, so yeah I'm pretty dedicated.

Great video!!!
I'm going to go vegan for a week when a Vegan girl comes to visit me, how should I hit my protein without vegan protein powder?
Beans, lentils, split peas, pasta, bread, rice
But what if your carbs are not that high?
+Adam McDonald since you're only doing it for a week... just dont give a fuck about carbs. just eat :)
+Adam McDonald l
I guess you're better off supplementing then

Protein intake is supposed to be x amount of grams Per kg body weight not by pounds if you're doing it by pounds you're consuming to much protein. If you're a body builder or a strength athlete 0.8 to 1.7 grams per kg body weight.
says the skinny non lifter how would you know do you bodybuild lol
+boogey dan because I researched this and I do lift weights but I'm not very strong. Does that answer your questions. The numbers can be changed depending on what kind of training you do but it's still kg not lbs
+boom3960 I guess all the fitness and RUclips fitness trainees are wrong but you are right cause you researched it lmao you take your protein in kg and see how well you look over the years
+boogey dan I'm not hating on anybody. I'm just stating my facts that I think are true
+boom3960 dude what you are saying can work it has a lot to due with the training intensity and the weights a person trains with but you are saying that your recommendation is suited for everyone and I am telling you it is not OK example I bench 270 lbs for reps do you think a person benching 185 lbs will need the same amount as protein as me of course not I will need more and they will need less get it now dude
