I was fooled with this one .Jay and a team of experts craftsmen repair families treasured antiques in a fascinating show called ' The repair shop ' and I could just see the pot being put in a corner of the Busy workshop and watered when noticed out of guilt . There are some good imitation pots - and some weird and wonderful small plants that do look artificial . You certainly code better than me on this one .
An old boss of mine did the same thing, someone got her a lovely potted plant for her office, she watered it now and again and was delighted she was keeping it "alive" for "so long" until a month later, the person who got her the potted plant told her it was plastic!! Boss couldn't stop laughing and was telling everybody!!🤣 Love your channel! Love WILTY!
I worked in an old peoples home our new resident had lots of flowers, so many I had to put some on top of the wardrobe..Watering and nattering to her, I suddenly had a shower! Her flowers were the silk ones!...
I have to confess, that I continued to water a Lily that my wife had in a tall skinny glass vase for months on end, that was made from some kind of cloth and plastic mixture because it looked so real and authentic. The water would (obviously !) evaporate over time and each time it dried out I would put a little water in the vase, (to make sure that it didn't die). My wife never saw me watering the Lily but one time it came up in conversation, and then she dropped the bombshell on me that it wasn't a real flower. And there was I thinking how long it had lasted. What a bloody idiot I am. This is a true story and I was convinced it was a real flower. Doh! 😂. Ps, well done to the person who made the Lily because it looked so bloody real and it completely had me fooled.

Here in the UK relative humidity is 75%+ water evaporates and if he didn't put that much in it is quite reasonable that in a heated location water will evaporate. I remove 5L of water a day sometimes from my house by dehumidifier. So the issue of where the water went with twice a week watering could be plausible. The question really is was the practical joke likely? That's really down to personalities.
My mam had a flower thing in gel in a narrow vase a few years ago and I watered it while she was away. I just assumed it needed watering along with the other plants.
To go all David Mitchell... I think the best approach to the object round is to ask how plausible it is as a lie. One of the production crew will have to source the object & come up with the story. A plastic flower is just the sort of thing you'd find ina charity shop, at a car boot sale etc. and what else could you do with it to make a tale?
My neighbour asked me to water the plants in her conservatory as they were going on holiday for a month. I did this for a fortnight before realising that one of them was artificial! In my defence this plant was on a window sill and could only be reached by leaning over an armchair.
There's no reason why a US version couldn't be as good as the UK show (just look at the US version of "Whose Line is it Anyway"). However, I've seen a few segments of it and it is absolutely terrible.

I can't imagine USA Guys wishing their opponents marriage to "fail" like Lee did to The Mitchells.Also, " Elephant In The Room" time. Danny Cohenthen Head of Entertainment of BBC made it compulsorily for Panel Shows to have,at least,one Female Panel Member as few were considered,nationally,well known and funny enough to tell stories . Obviously it can be done a la Claudia and Gabby Logan but you really struggle to remember any memorable Female stories like Bob,James Acaster,Gre Davies,Kevin,Henning and the rest provide. THe USA Show deliberately did a Quota suystem of 3 Women,who smiled at each other most of the time plus one member of each major Commubity so not based on comedic value but quotas.

When I moved into current house, there was a plant left in the Window , I watered it for longer than I care to admit before realising it was fake,
