I'm friend with some Samoan, they're big time family orientated, and they're tough as leather in any sport they choose to apply. He wasn't scared of anyone.
That’s freakin scary power, and the accuracy. Like damn.
Love this channel. I come back to it every now and then to learn more about these Boxers. I’ve never been a fan of it myself, but it’s interesting to learn about.
Man ...I just learned about Mike Tua yesterday. During Tua's reign I lived in Hawaii with a sizable Polynesian populace. However we lived off grid without cable or regular TV access. Tyson was the fighter everyone heard about.
Tyson didn't want to fight Tua.
@@hellogoodbye219
Tyson ducked everyone in the 90s except Evander.
Underrated skill and character. One of few role model worthy boxing Champs
Tua was never a champion.
@@jameswalsh3976
He held some "lesser" titles, but never any of the big 4 world ones
@@rickybobby38 Yup he fought Lewis but proved to be to small and slow to reach Lewis with his hook.
@jameswalsh3976
100% facts - Lewis fought the perfect way a Tall boxer needs to against a shorter power puncher - sadly, Tua wasn't anywhere near his physical best when he finally got this title bout - Lewis probably gets the W most times anyway, but it would've been nice to see his defences tested more thoroughly
4 belt didn't start until 2004
David Tua was a Machine
Man, I wish I could have seen a match up of David Tua and Mike Tyson! Can you imagine how epic that would have been?!
The Tua Man 💝, I growing up next door to Tua the man inSamoa. . Seeing him spared with my old brother and they make their own boxing ring out of rope. When we move to New Zealand, I went to school with two of his younger brothers Fomai and Ulu 💝. They are the best people to hangout with. I am so blessed to growing up knowing this great and wonderful brothers 💝🙏. God bless you boys and your families always 💝🙏👌
I used to record his fights on my VCR. I have hundreds of tapes from the eighties and nineties of fighters people have long forgotten about. Tyson vs Tua was a dream match fans wanted to see.
Tua would have eaten him alive. Tyson can't win.if he can't intimidate you. Tua would have laughed at.him
Tyson was way faster than Tua and has wayyyuu better defense than Tua.
@@raulshiro6239
I agree, but you know that you would've watched the fight had it taken place.
@@raulshiro6239 No. Tyson was very, very good, without a doubt. We shall never know who might have won, but Tua was devastating in his prime
@@riazhassan6570 yeah tua was so good....he wins 90% of his fights vs taxi drivers.
I’m glad I discovered this channel. Never heard of Tua or Ibeabuchi, but WOW !! Glad Tua is still healthy and happy.
TUA was definitely a brilliant explosive boxer
You’re a Deadset legend David tua!!
Hubble toughs the best kind!!!
Definitely one of my favorites he didn’t get the push he deserved. But life’s not fair and he made the best with what he had.
born at the wrong time.
"didnt get the push he deserved" this ain't WWE bro.
The legend will go down in history. What a beast.
Tua and Tyson are two legends, greatest of all time 🦅🦅
Fun fact Holyfield sparred with Tua every day while preparing for Tyson bout, no wonder Mike couldnt hurt him...
They're not the same. Tyson is different. Stop comparing people to Tyson
@@Gorilla8 Tyson 50-6, Tua 52-5, both heavyweights from the same era. I wonder why people draw comparisons with the two??? Its a MYSTERY.
Rocky masiano is the greatest of all time he never lost ... check out rocks training videos then un will understand....
I never seen this guy before but he’s awesome..that’s for sure!! ❤️💯
In my opinion, the best HW boxer to never win a major title. He won a billion fans though...the 90's, man what a good decade for boxing. Respect the TUAMAN.
Tua,a great fighter with a pedigree of excellent and exciting victories.Bravo champion !
TUAMAN ! One of the most exciting boxer of all time ! I follow his journey and sad to know that he rarely got opportunities to get tittle shot just like others 90's legend. But yes, a true warrior !
Power and aggression .Brutality pure warrior
I completely forgot about him! Thank you for this. As a child of the 90s, watching Tua fight was always a special treat.
Unfortunate I didn't get to see him too often back then.
I used to watch all his fight David Tua is one of my favorite fighters
Tua is one of my most favorite HW's of all time... His KO of Ruiz was simply awesome!
Wow what a boxer, that signature shot was incredible, had something of Tyson with that little jump ahead which adds power to the punch
He was one of my favourite boxers, he gave it all when it matters, he was only defeated by younger boxers when David was ready to retire but at his peak no one would have touched him, happy retirement David
Lennox Lewis washed him in his prime.
@@hisexcellency916 Lennox ran the whole time tho
@@vaiholapohiva1321 Ran? Dude he kept the jab on him and beat him up bad. David wasn’t the same after that fight.
He lost to Ike, he should've lost his second fight to Rahman, he got dominated by Lennox, and he couldn't lay a glove on Chris Byrd, . Nuff said...
A highest ranking of 3rd tells me at least two others were favourite to beat him at his prime. He was good, but lets not over egg the pudding.
Tua had massive power, a chin of rock and some speed and skill. Just a real shame he didn’t have better management, promotion and coaches
I've always thought David Tua is one of the most scariest boxers, hell, combat fighters of all time... David is what happens when Samoans turn to professional sports and put their hard work into their sports profession. Islanders possess scary power... It's just natural. Look at Jonah Lomu in rugby, Mark Hunt in MMA, or even other Islanders in Rugby or combat sports. They possess explosive power with that large physique!
They are built Iike tanks, but it was definitely hunt and tuas technique that makes them hit so hard. Compact bodies with full body rotation on power punches.
Love watching them both
Not to forget the Rock, who has Samoa blood too.
But very few of them come from the islands most were born in NZ and without the NZ influence they would be average
absurdly high bone density
@@Trajan2401 They are Pacific Islanders, David and Mark are of Samoan descent... New Zealand Natives/Maori people ARE Pacific Islanders aka Polynesians. Simply research👍
I believe Tua's defense was more impressive than his power. While his power was incredible, his defense was even more remarkable-he was exceptionally elusive and quick!
Such a great athlete who got screwed from the people he worked with greed was their motivation this man fought his heart out hats off.
What David Tua did to John Ruiz was absolutely brutal. The beating of a lifetime.
Man, that last punch. Ruiz was already out. That last punch snatched his soul.
@@joeblack007 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 true!! 😂😂😂😂
That was not a beating no no that was Tua knocking Ruiz that f*** out hahaha
Wow. I feel like I robbed myself of watching a great boxer, & fights!! Never knew of Tua, until watching this video.
me too
Hes the Real Terminator
A lot of fighters avoided him… so most of those were against journeyman with a few upper echelons like Ibeabuchi and Ruiz.
It hard to get known from our side of the world but Tua is a boxing hall of fame now.. bro was a legend wif 27 wins 23kos b4 his first loss n was pre famous down here in New Zealand and Australia
Mannnn bro you got yourself another subscriber!!! Never hearing of this guy had my full attention, keep'em coming bro!!!
The big man who made me start boxing. Tuamanator!
Nothing beats 90s heavyweights 🥊
No the greatest heavyweights were in the 70s and 80s
Tua sure was Some Fighter, Hall of Fame material for sure! 👊👊💯
One of the best fights ever was Tua vs Ike Ibeabuchi 🙌🏿🙌🏿
Big Love from a Portland Oregon USA boxing fan ... Always a legend Tua . Your definitely not a hidden Gem around these parts ... We remember you ...
Always reminded me of Mark Hunt although I'd argue Mark Hunt could box just as well he was always a amazing striker himself !!
Tua was such a beast... I still have a drawing i made of Tua from 1997 in a little book that my dads mum made me
Thanks for posting this high-quality nonblurry video.Good job!
Tua was relentless 💪🏿
His punches look so fluid and effortless.
That ref jumped infront of Tua's bombs. He has balls. 🤣
I can't think of a single person id not want to get hit by with a full force punch more than Tua. My favorite boxer, and puncher.
Davids clinch was to throw a overhand right and a left hook and keep throwing...a gentleman before and after the bell but a deadly killer monster with bad intent lurked in his mind whilst hitting opponents when they were standing in front of him and whilst they were falling down. Legend.
