I've never fought a fat man, except in judo class. That was frustrating.

What an inspiration! I absolutely love this guy. He’s a role model. Not a super model, but definitely a role model
Johnny Knoxville classic line. "Is Butterbean ok"? 😆
That was classic, love the Bean and Johnny Knoxville. Righteous dudes.
@horsehide3039 Eric still is a very good man and always will be.People here in Jasper,Al love him and he loves our community.
"I'm feeling a little concussed"..... also Johnny K.

😂😂😂
Butterbean one of the greatest in his category's history. Every fight was fun to watch.
You must have a very loose definition of greatest to call him that.. Fun to watch for sure though.
He is in the Legend Lore forever 😁😁😁
Not even close to the best in history
He doesn’t even make the top 500.
When I said the one of the greatest I mean in his category. He fought strong opponets and have a good record. Unlike other boxers who became in the top 5, but their fight are mostly running around the ring or pick worn out fighters for a guarantee win.
Came here to complain about a subject that has been many times covered by other channels but quickly realized I was watching the most detailed and entertaining Butterbean video I’ve ever seen.
Yeah, it is the best
Yeah, this guy does killer work.. and those one-liners are awesome. lol
Loved seeing our hometown starlight of Bay City, Michigan, the late Art Dore, in some of these clips. Without Toughman Contest founder and hometown pioneer Art Dore, the world never would've known Butterbean.
We loved being a part of Esch's journey back in Bay City.
Thank you for making this doc so accessible to someone outside the boxing world.
What makes you think anyone can be on the outside of boxing world? Let's face it, you're a proud little feathered friend of his.
@@HisHonorable Chill out gramps. Some of us didn't follow boxing in the 90's and enjoy hearing the actual back stories.
He only protected his head because his body was protected naturally😂.
Someone smashed his own elbow against his head 💀
So true and funny 😁 guy is a legend
Yep. True. I don’t mean insult. Because a human body have muscles and fat like body armor that allow take minimal damage. But boxer’s head still be vulnerable for punch to knock out.
Im SO HAPPY hes looking good nowadays. I dont care what anybody says, this man is a true WARRIOR!
Cmon dude, this is all an act
*Butterbean.. A real American Hero and Legend!*
The man got fed up with people making fun of his weight
AND HE DID SOMETHING ABOUT IT
MAD RESPECT BROTHER
When did anyone say that? I don't think you ever let your buddies convince you to enter a "toughman" competition because they think your a 400 pound slob. They convinced him because they all knew he was a wrecking ball at 400 and if he got anywhere near 300, he would be unstoppable. Lol😅
@@rorygillmore6555he actually changed the story a little bit. He was hella bullied by his friends
Thanks for the video. The Bean is my all-time favorite fighter. He never backed down from a challenge and was always a good sport. He silenced his doubters and destroyed stereotypes. Tremendous humility. Glad that he got his health together after retiring. Much respect.
he fight only vs journey men. Never a difficult boxer.
@@yakuzalegends just like the average boxer
@@yakuzalegendsSo legit question, did he get challenged by any of them and Butterbean rejected them? If so, was it because neither party wanted to move away to/from the 4-round fight model?
Because I mean he called out Tyson, I'd consider him a difficult boxer. He even said "4 rounds -- 10 rounds". So at least I'd like to believe he seemed willing to give it a go.
@DrethNET True.Bean did anything to entertain fans. That's what he wanted the most and would fight anyone who'd fight him.He even fought Larry Holmes, but didn't fare very well.Eric was and still is a hard worker that provides for him family.
He was far from a legend. He never got in good enough shape to go past 4 rounds. That means he is bellow every single fighter that could go 10 - 12 rounds.
DDP, out here saving aging fighters' lives one at a time.
The non-stop food jokes and puns in this video, coming at us like delicious fists of fury.
Seriously though, props to DDP and BB for the comeback, so glad to see that.
This man is a legend and so humble love his story.
I played high school football with one of his sons. We had our pregame meal at his restaurant more than once. Butterbean is one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet.
He was a sideshow he fought exhibition matches only.
@@T1Oracle And you are a pussy that fights pre people on videos games in your mom's basement. What's your point?
Respect to him , not only he was a legend in boxing but this man came back from a very deep and dark place, I’m very happy how things turned out
Will we see more from Fury when he has his rematch with Usyk? Will we see a Butterbean Tyson fight?
If Tyson doesn't ko Usyk next match he may as well retire.

I remember watching butterbean back in the day it's not until you see a breakdown like this till you realise man that dude really had something
Yeah, I remember watching it then too. At first, like most, I thought he was a gimmick. But then i started paying attention. Iif you watch him, he actually had a great sense of timing as a counterpuncher and was effective at using people's overconfidence against them, catching opponent after opponent off-guard and placing them on the canvas.
It was like fighting a train. He was respectful and a clean fighter. Long live the legend Butterbean!
Love Butterbean. Watching him take shots and harness the power and deactivate fighters at will. OH HELL YEAH! THE GLORY!

Here in England, I had never heard of this guy until today, but what a genuine talent and entertainer. I am so glad to see that he is still with us and enjoying life. I salute you, Sir! 🫡 🇬🇧 ❤ 🇺🇸
I don't know if that has anything to do with England. I'm in Germany and have heard about him for many years. And I'm interested in boxing but not a huge fan who knows everyone.
Butterbean is a loved character of combat sports.
The commentary on these videos is priceless. Keep up the amazing work.

So you think it's normal for this guy to make money off of fighters while he calls them fat? How much we want a bet this guy that makes these videos is 400 pounds ? I met Butterbean once and it was like talking to my dad. He was so sweet ❤
I was the runner up in USA network’s Butterbean lookalike contest with the winner announced at Foxwoods in CT. I’m in a picture in Ring magazine with Eric and the winner. I spent some time with him before his fight and even in the dressing room immediately before his fight the night of the contest. Super nice guy, but wow, did he put on his game face as fight time approached. Great memories, thanks for posting
His ability to absorb and withstand hits is also truely amazing
Never heard of this guy. Never watched boxing or MMA or anything. RUclips recommended this video anyway.
Watched the whole video and almost teared up watching his recovery. What a great story.
This man was my hero when I was young. I was 400lbs when I graduated highschool and he inspired me to take better care of myself. I lost 100lbs in my first year out of school and 20 years later I have a physique most of my classmates are jealous of. 🙂
I did tear up and reminded me of my dad's mobility issues. I always thought butterbean was a gimmick fight. Now I see that I was wrong. Much respect!
I'm glad you got to discover the big man. Butterbean is awesome. Great guy, amazing fighter.

"I give them a good fight and that's all that matters". Well said Sir👍😀
Nice tribute, thank you. The guy is a phenom, a savant to the sport and this is a well deserved addition to your catalogue. The man's got drive and I love his fights.
My stepdad was a bar manager/bouncer for years and the only fight advice I ever got from him was, "never fight a fat man - you can never tell how strong or how fast they are."
I've never fought a fat man, except in judo class. That was frustrating.
Well the same counts to the skinny or short guys. I've seen 5'6 guys absolutely destroying monsters, just because they were good fighters. Most large people think that height is enough.
@@-ripinpieces-8409 Totally agree. It's best to avoid fighting altogether unless you have no choice. I trained a little bit in boxing as a teen and the ones who gave me the most trouble, as a tall kid, were the short guys who got in close and used their better leverage. I didn't last long doing boxing, something about being punched in the face that I didn't care for =)
@@-ripinpieces-8409I have been fighting and training for 35 years. I'm 280 pounds. One of the only times I got seriously rocked was sparring a friend in the gym. He was no more than 140 pounds. He slapped me right on the chin with a lightning fast punch. It didn't hurt at all, and I barely noticed it. I went to take a step and wobbled into the ropes. A second later I was fine again. But all those punches and kicks I got cracked with by big guys, then get wobbled by a little guy. You just never know! I treat everybody with the utmost respect and kindness. When it comes to the streets, the only way to win is not to fight.
He was in there for one reason, for his Family and now his Family have everything they need.
Damn this is the first time I’m hearing of this beast. He is one of the best punchers I’ve ever seen.
