Glad to hear your experience with bidding. I bid back in September and increased my bid twice. Now that we are within a few days of the cruise, I assume we did not get it. I don't think I will do it again. It is that sense of anticipation that became uncomfortable. I would have appreciated a token denial notice just to end the waiting to find out. We are happy with the cabin we chose; it was just the chance to be in a cabin type we had never experienced.
Class of ‘89 represent! I also saw those soldier crazy creepy eyes at Le Home Depot a few days ago and did a double take because I saw the video here and wondered if that’s where you got them 😊
I truly enjoy watching and listening to you both. I watch while I work in property management. I was on both the Firenze and Venezia and I love them!!!! 😀
Just catching up on all things Locafam after getting back from our Ovatioj cruise yesterday. Btw Royal nowadays will deliver an extension cord to your room for a CPAP if you fill in a form before boarding and you can just leave it there when you depart. No need to go to guest services. 😊 I think our weather here in Queensland is probably like yours in Florida. We also get a bit upset if the temp gets below around the equivalent of 70F 😂
We were recently on the Sun for 14 days. The problems were minor. Had the Premier package and loved it. We're back on her in January for 14 days. We also have future bookings on the Star for 14 days in 2025, 28 days in 2026 and 30 in 2027 including the Panama Canal in April of 2027 for 16 days. 👍
Hi Tony and Jenny B. We were on the Sun Princess just a few weeks ago in a Cabana mini-suite. (09212) Right over the Arena as you figured. I look forward to your review of the ship and your cabin. (And oh yeah...be ready for a tiny bathroom...think straddle the toilet to open the shower door!) Nonetheless...have a great time. There was much we really liked about the Sun Princess.
Tony we have watched your vids for a while now, love seeing Jenny B with you. I agree with you I have never been on a bad cruise, even noro-virus and covid were better in a ship cabin than here at home. We are going to be on the Aqua inaugural (hopefully, better not be delayed) and doing the cruise tour before hope to see you onboard.
I just sailed on the sun princess 7 day cruise, food was amazing, crew was amazing! I loved the cabins and the overall features of the ship! I also loved the current captain! He is very funny, personable and kept us well informed day to day Negatives: they never had any shows in the dome, the main theatre was so small you def need to arrive at least 45 min early for seats to 1 hour prior. My only critique would be entertainment. Also if the buffet is too packed and you cannot find anywhere to sit walk down to Americana diner always seating available!
My sister and I are on the same cruise leaving Sunday. Also on casino free cruise but inside. Tried bid but didn’t hear back so guess it’s an inside. Hotels are expensive but then they usually are in FLL as I usually pay $300-400 a night. Since travel from PDX overnight is a must. Remember when cruise lines used to offer a free hotel if you have to fly awhile. Haven’t sailed Princess in about 20 years so feel this will be a new experience. Usually sail Celebrity (Elite) or Royal Caribbean (Diamond). Look forward to seeing you around ship!
sailed on the Sun 2 weeks in November, first week for the Conjurer's Magic Castle cruise (great!) and second week was just to relax and enjoy the ship (booked before they announced the demolition of park 19). The food and entertainment was excellent at the teppanyaki restaurant. Food at love by Britto and Spellbound so-so. Since they moved the restaurants around on the Sun, and since they implemented premium unlimited specialty dining, there are definitely drawbacks. I heard from other passengers that service of the steakhouse and Rudi's can be very slow because they share the same grill. After 2.5 hours 2 ladies left Rudi's because they still hadn't received their food. I heard the same about the steak house from other passengers. I basically just did teppanyaki, Love by Britto, and Spellbound as I had done Rudi's on Discovery Princes and wasn't impressed. Enjoyed the food at the international cafe and buffet and like the fact that they serve you the food. Main dining room food was fine, not great but fine. I like to sit in the front row in the main theater/arena, so usually if you get to the theater 30 minutes before showtime you can get those seats. I went to the Dome acrobatic show during the first week when they had a bad technical glitch and an acrobat was literally dropped without warning flat on his back, which caused the cancellation of all shows involving the acrobats during the rest of the two weeks. The Dome acrobatic show was really not impressive before that accident. However, the arena shows were very good and worth going to see. Janice Martin, the violinist/singer/arealist is excellent, hopefully they will have her again. They flew in other performers the second week to replace the dearth of entertainment due to the cancellation of shows with acrobats which greatly helped the second week's entertainment. If you want to see the acrobatic show in the Dome if they offer it, go an hour or 2 before showtime and sit in the Cascade bar area, and you will be among the first group in to see the show. Spellbound, the bar and show was excellent. If they offer it without food at a reduced rate, do it without the meal included. Just make sure to eat something before the bar experience. Best drinks at the Spellbound bar are Escape from Houdini's chest and Artemis. Bathrooms are very small, you have to remember to put towels on the toilet or sink counter before showering or you won't be able to reach them after the shower due to the way the doors open. They really need bifold doors for the showers. While not perfect, and the entertainment was a bit lacking, the staff was excellent. Be aware, I heard the step distance is 2 feet trying to get out of the dome pool, so most people used the main pool because they needed help getting out of the Dome pool.
Miami Port is a nightmare- we were literally stranded at disembarkation because at 11am embarkation deck A was full and diverted to J- shuttle to port - no shuttle on disembarkation and cannot walk over due to construction and really far! No one at Royal, Or port authority knows what happened?? They are trying to see whom to blame, but it will be confidential! 🤫
made the drive in the snow, Toronto to Buffalo, flying out early tomorrow for Fort Lauderdale (one day early for the SUN Princess cruise❤❤) See everyone on the 5th!! Excited! All reviews aside, I will form my own opinions,
I have toured other ships ( Moored @ the dock next to the ship I am sailing upon ) . I will go to their Ganagway early in the day ( I would NEVER do this with less than 2 hours before said Ship departs ). I will introduce myself & my lady. I request to board their ship so that I can see the PUBLIC areas of their ship. Most times they have to call someone on the radio / but within 5 minutes I am usually allowed to tour! I would say it is a 70% success rate. & OF COURSE I make certain that I am off of their ship 1 hour before their departure!! Has anyone else done this??? Tom from Houston :)
I like the options on Carnival for food and the open times. Royal has hit or miss food depending on the cook and the open times left me eating pizza most days after port... I'd love to try Virgin next but when and if they ever come to the west coast.
I was a huge fan of Norwegian until my latest cruise in July, 2024 on the Jade. I love a smaller ship and the itinerary was amazing but...due to maintenance issues not inly did we leave Port Canaveral technically 2 days late, we didn't go to any of our planned ports and ended up in the Bahamas which should of cost us half the price, if not more, of what we paid. Our refund wasnt near fair or acceptable so now im in this place where im boycotting them. This is the second time i had problems getting money back from them. First time, they were holding my money hostage when 2 cruises had to be cancelled during the beginning of Covid times. It was alot of work getting those funds back. Very frustrating to say the least.
Main dining room is fine, I didn't think specialty dining was that special except the teppanyaki had very good quality food. Love by Britto was not special enough to recommend it. Spellbound food was also skippable. In the MDR, if you don't like something they can bring you something else. There was plenty of steak type dishes and one night with lobster and steak if that is what you like.
After seeing the ship in all the videos and reading all the reviews, we canceled a future cruise on the Sun Princess and booked on Celebrity Xcel instead.
Will it be noisy over the arena? Don’t know if I’d like to be on a Mega ship. So many people. I’ll be interested in your reviews. It is 35 here in Seattle. 😊
I was on the October 14th, the day you got off. The absolute worst cruise I have ever been on. So much so they gave me a FCC. So many people on that cruise were on their first cruise, and were very upset. They need more crew, and the venues are all to small for the amount of people on the ship! Awful design!
Overall we enjoyed our recent cruise on the sun. I didn't care for the ship design though. We ran into a few dead ends. If you want to go to the wake view bar, you have to go to 9 walk all they way to the back of the ship then take an elevator down to 8. My quote onboard was: You can't get there from here.
Do you think. It’s worth the money for the 14 day cruise out of New Orleans. Just curious, trying to save my money for something in 2026 . A really great cruise.
Hello. Husband n I watch u n your posts. Great information. On 11.16.2024 my birthday we went on a 7 day Riviera Cruise and wasn't given the Exterior upgrade that we pd for. Was only compensated with half of upgrade fee. This was a mistake of the planner John Gonzales who took full responsibility. 7 days no view. Worst birthday ever. My question is is there anyone I can talk to other than emails. Thanks😊
We were on a sold out cruise on Sun over Thanksgiving and we only could not get into the done show. They had also turned the front hot tub into adult only area since there were so many kids
The Butcher Block was the worst thing on Sun Princess, no choice in the menu, slow service (like 3 hours) and the food was just average. Go anywhere else

The glass shower door was the only thing I liked! But it’s hard to open in the small bathroom.

Oh we are in the same area 9217 I have heard the arena is a little loud but the cabana area is awesome what were your thoughts?
I love how she says “coa-fee” ❤❤❤
Were sailing the Sun Princess next week! Cant wait!
Missed the live 😢and will miss you by one week on the SP. first time on Princess so we won’t be confused on the difference of the layout.

Go to Tappanyaki for a good meal and show from the chef.
10:06 Alright you two, get a room! 😅 I love you two, great fun! 👍🤶🦃🎄🎅✌🗽
What’s up with the toy soldiers!!!😂😂
The soldiers are reminiscent of the Grady girl twins in “The Shining” 🤣

You need to try Viking. Oceania is great
MSC staff can be brass and inattentive, especially on the Meraviglia.
Do you mean brash?
I am sorry to ask…but please tell me the name of this opening music as I really love it!
It is called - Infected ground by Particle House😊 I ❤ it as well.
@ thanks a million!
Hi Tony and jenny. Shout out the jenny b show
There you are?
Is the regular MDR not great that you need to do specialty dining? Curious
Main dining room is fine, I didn't think specialty dining was that special except the teppanyaki had very good quality food. Love by Britto was not special enough to recommend it. Spellbound food was also skippable. In the MDR, if you don't like something they can bring you something else. Those soldiers behind yall making it look like they are forcing you to say what you are talking about. 😂😂😂
Tony , get on Aqua out of Portugal Jan. 12th,'25 sailing ,so we can meet you.
We enjoyed eating breakfast in main dining
Those Soldiers are from the Nutcracker
After seeing the ship in all the videos and reading all the reviews, we canceled a future cruise on the Sun Princess and booked on Celebrity Xcel instead.
Hi Jenny and Tony, did you have turkey for your group for thanksgiving or have finger appetizers. That’s a lot of prepping but I’m sure loads of fun❤

Where do you see your princess casino offers
I received mine from my local casino. Was offering either Carnival (heck no), Holland ( at 60 yrs old I’m too young for) so chose Princess! 😂
Sorry Jenny think the eyes r creepy. lol. Without those on they r super cute
❤
