- Welcome to this deep dive into the War for Sake of the Elves, also known as the War of the Powers, the Battle of the Powers, or the War of Gods. In this video, we will explore the epic conflict that took place in Middle-earth between the Valar and the forces of Melkor.
The story begins with the awakening of the Elves in Cuiviénen, where they beheld the stars of Varda. However, Melkor discovered their existence and sent his spirits of darkness to capture some of them, thus creating the first orcs. When Oromë the Great found the Elves during his hunting, he called them to Valinor for their protection from Melkor. However, the Elves were doubtful of Oromë, partly because of Melkor's shadows and evil spirits spying on them. Before the arrival of Oromë, some Elves would vanish, never to return.
Oromë returned to Valinor and announced the coming of the Elves. The Valar rejoiced and had another council, debating whether to make war on Melkor. Eventually, they decided to take action and passed over to Middle-earth, where they broke down the stronghold of Utumno. Melkor fled to the uttermost part, but Tulkas defeated him and chained him with Angainor, which Aulë had wrought. However, the Valar did not discover all the other servants of Melkor, and those servants lingered ever in the shadows. Thus ended the War for Sake of the Elves.
In this video, we'll delve into the causes and consequences of the devastating war for Arda. We'll explore various themes such as the Awakening of the Elves, the Origin of Orcs, the tale of the Dark Rider, and the fascinating story of Tulkas and his crucial role in capturing Melkor.
Whether you're a fan of J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-earth lore or a history enthusiast, this video is a must-watch. It takes us back to the Elder Days and invites us to explore the beautiful narrative of the Silmarillion.

The imagery with which you accompany your story is always amazing!
Thank you!
@@TalesoftheRings hi mate i ave a non monetised ( dont worry ,no speech about " we must join , it would be wise my friend " .. no im complimenting for finally coming across another ( seams to be rare ) anyway ive got a 234 list you might be interested in for ideas , im gonna be checking you out , looking forward , but mean reason i came here is to have a break from a silmarils video im also making that takes it out of the bland same image telling everyone uses , i do it with a different twist or my first contribution and definition of my melkor , every version ive seen out there is lacking his evil , or has Peter Jackson once said he messed up on LOTR by failing to project the totally fear that would turn harden warriors pissy pants on hearing the Nazgul on WINGS the same fear the German Stucker divers created before your bombed , im doing a AMBIENT selected choice to tell a narrative of Lu therian hypnotised Melkor but ive got a Melkor ready thats gonna make Tokein glad somebody has put the " L " in " MELKOR " and he doesnt live in a dungeon and dragons castle with pretty colours we commonly see .. il drop you the link mid week when finish , i think you'il likey
Thank you for giving me once again the feeling I had, as a teen, when I first saw The Lord of the Rings, this is beautifully made.
Oh man! You've made my day with this comment ❤️
i can not wait to see you addapt the Dagor bragoloch
I have been focusing on the events of the First Age and I am currently working on a few videos that cover the Elven Realms of Beleriand before I continue with the War of the Jewels.
So wish this was longer ! Amazing! MELKOR!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'll make sure to make long-form Elder Days video
Melkor the GOAT!
Simping for clowns?

MELKOR IS THE BEST AND MOST POWERFUL VILLAIN EVER!!
Love the epic nature of the images combined with the biblical account.
I'm glad to hear that
That is the right tone for Silmarillion. Always imagined it as that. LOTR and Hobbit movies give the feeling that Tolkien is all but jolly adventure against some lesser evil
Exactly! This was a far more epic part of Legendarium.
The visuals are the best I’ve seen for the Silmarillion
That means a lot!
Great videos! I like that you used Sauron's real name : Mairon.
Yeah, he was known as Marion back then 😁
Just one word... Wow... Great narration combined with stunning visuals. I had goosebumps during the scene where Varda creates the stars. Great work.
Thank you 🙏
Nostalgia hearing that Isengard music/theme.👍👏👏👏😊
You've gotta thank David Donges for that one! youtube.com/@davidddonges
This would’ve been a way better series than rings of power
exactly!!!
The history channel after 1 am:
But seriously, I love these!!
This was a PIECE of AWESOME!!!! 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
Thanks 🙏
Rings of power wishes it was this good!
This was way better than Amazon’s intro in the first episode 🎥 💯
You're not the first one to say that
Oh wow, top notch quality!
Thanks 😊
This is a real treat 👏🏼
Thanks!!!
Absolutely amazing and jaw-dropping. I hope that, if the producers in charge of Amazon ever dare to make a film about the Silmarillion, they at least learn from these videos. They don't have the right to do whatever they want with this universe and still use the same name.
Nah, they wouldn't like this for sure 😄
Not enough Women obliterating stereotypes and the plot. Not woke enough.
Thnx for visualizing this.
The atmosphere in this video! It's like seeing the movie of what we're reading. Magical!
Thank you Yaelle!
This is amazing. I've been waiting for YEARS for someone to make a visual companion to the Silmarillion while still keeping to original text, and this is exactly what I pictured and wanted. Excellent job!
Now if only someone would make Skyrim but set in Beleriand during the 1st age we'd be set!
Yes!!!!! Yea to everything
Glad you like it!
Absolutely beautiful! PLEASE PLEASE make one about Aule and his creation of the dwarves. I've always loved that chapter. I don't understand how AMAZON with a virtually unlimited budget can't make a series half as good. The simple truth has remained unchanged--if you want to make something good just stick to the sources. Major props for your videos!!!
Great suggestion!
That was amazing, thank you! (I'd take this over the entire season of the rings of power :p)
You are not alone! 😁
This is amazing!! Congratulations and thank you so much!!!
Hvala brate 😁
@@TalesoftheRings Neverica 😁
Ive read the book mad times, and is still in awe of the story telling. The graphics in this video is ODDDDDDDD really good work!!!
Thanks man!
Absolutely fantastic video. Loved it 🙂
Mission accomplished 😁
The Narrator's voice is spot on.
this is absolutely amazing
Thanks
I have a dream that in the not too distant future the advancements in video editing tech, SFX and the dissemination of these technologies into the population will produce high quality and faithful interpretations of Tolkien through talented, loyal fans. Even with the mashups you do, this is a step in the right direction.
I always envisioned Terrance Malick directing the first film in a Silmarillion series. Ainulindalë is full of grand abstract imagery conveying a cosmic genesis, and Malick has proven to be a great storyteller using abstract visuals and cosmic scope as he did with Tree of Life. You’ve managed to capture some of that very well.
Great work!! Thank you for doing this. It's amazing work.
Thank you too!
Ne mogu da vjerujem. Bravo na tvom radu:)
Hvala na lepim rečima!!
Čovek zna znanje.... Samo napred
A great work in progress. Another great addition.
Thanks!
I am so glad that i stumbled upon your chanel. Amazing work with true love for Tolkien's world. Can't wait to see your videos about the second and third age in the future .Greetings from Greece "melon"
Thanks a ton!
Excellent, EXCELLENT work. Using the LOTR movies soundtrack only heightens its' majesty.
It's not original LotR music, in the description you can find composers who made the music I used in the videos. I suggest you check David Donges and Filip Olejka for more amazing LotR soundtracks.
Wonderful, professional work
Thanks!
4:04 crwaaaaaaazy visuals and transitions are on point wit da music, Jesus
🙏
And now the glory days begin. :) fabulous video!
Friendship man! You'll always be a part of this journey!
Bro....this is amazing. Can't wait too watch the series as a whole
Great work.
Many of hardcore fans know this, but there is a section in History of ME regarding the war for the sake of the elves and it says that the attack on Utumnu was a planned diversion by the Valar to extract the Eldar. They weren't expecting to win. But Melkor had already gone somewhat down the path of becoming Morgoth (dispersing his power and being into the world)
Manwe is shocked to see Melkor so reduced and sensing that his being is less than he was; and Melkor was shocked also from his own point of view, he couldnt daunt his brother with his gaze anymore and Tulkas was able to wrestle him to the ground and bind him.
That is one of the reasons that the elves were somewhat afraid of the Valar. They saw the war and its destruction from afar
Fantastic video!
Thanks
great video / documentary 9.9/10!
What a great vid , new sub here ❤
Thank you for your trust!
Wow man, great video I really loved it, plus the thumbnails for these remastered version are awesome

Thank you very much, Tales of Middle Earth! This telling of the struggle against Melkor has made me so happy to see as a longtime Tolkien fan!

Incredible video. I'm going to watch a few more.
Let me just say...your videos put Rings of Power (Rings of Disappointment) to absolute shame!
Thanks
Another great video Mate. Love the production quality.

Good lord. This is 1000 times better than that Horrendoues Amazon power of the candy ring

How you did all that I have no idea! But it was impressive hell of a video, or movie is a better way to put it!
Thanks!!!
Amazing
Thanks
It’s like watching national geographic: Middle earth.
Love this one, once again, thanks so much. Just one thing, it looked a little too dark for me in some moments, is it just me or ?
Yeah, I've intended that way, since there was no light in the world back then 😁
@@TalesoftheRings Fair enough ! Thanks.
And then in Dagor Dagorrath, my boi Turin puts Melkor down for good, best revenge ever.
I wish it were longer...
4:22 based Battle for the Middle Earth reference, I'd recognize the orc pit art anywhere!
Seriously good editing, amazing concept, fine execution. Great video!
Yes! Thank you!
Cool 😎😊
Can you please increase the volume of the narrator and lower the volume of the soundtrack, other than that, your graphics and animations are a 10!!!
You're not the first one to point that out 😅, but somehow, louder music makes it more intense! I'm thinking of creating a long-form documentary-style 'Elder Days' video which will include these frames, and I promise to lower the music 😂
@Tales of the Rings
Please don't misunderstand my concern. I think your channel is outstanding, my criticism is purely constructive. ✌️
Mükemmel olmuş tebrikler
Thank you!
Момент с созданием звёзд Вардой просто замораживает, еще эти нотки музыки эльфов Лориена шикарны
Thank you 🙏
What happened to the oath of feanor video? Loved that one
It has been remade
I just hope that EVERY men and women who were working on Amazon's Rings of power will be sacked together with main casts.... 🙏
It blows my mind that the years of the trees were like 14000 years but the years of the lamps were like 33000! I wish there were more stories about THIS period.. the real first age! So the lamps stood for longer than the trees and all three ages of the sun COMBINED.
Just my opinion, but sometimes I think the music is a bit too loud and contests too greatly the narration. But I love these videos. Thank you.
Noted!
Oh yeah I helped Eru Illuvatar make stars too with Yvanna I remember her flying exactly as depicted in this video I was close with her and Eru took me everywhere the Ainur went I didn't incarnate after later when the war with Melkor was over which I took part in as one of the Ainur.
Intresring use of the icecrown citadel from wow. Your work is amazing!
Thank you! Cheers!
Amazing portrayal and explanation.
I recognized Godwin, The Golden. lol.
But it was a useful asset for the vid.
Thanks, I've used a bunch of stuff
I remember this battle of the powers I was there with Eru Illuvatar throwing huge fiery rocks against Melkor with Eru 😊 i'm one of the Ainur son of Finwe my last name is Fingolfin.
I'm very close to Orome I'm Bythios one of the Ainur and an Aeon.
Love the imagery of dark souls you use
Thanks 😊
I love all your videos and how the visuals are wonderfully put to entertain all Tolkien fans but I'd like to point out that The Two Trees of Valinor were killed thousands of years after the first generation of elves had awoken, and at that time, Feanor and several other elf generations had been born. Morgoth and Ungoliant came to Valinor cloaked in a cloud of shadow and darkness and killed them while the valar and elves had a feast or something, and the sun and moon were only created because Feanor refused to give up his silmarils (made from the captured light of the two trees) so Varda could break them for Yavana to rekindle the light of the poisoned trees.
Also, at the time of Morgoth's defeat by the hand of Tulkas, Morgoth's chief lieutenant was Gothmog - Lord of the Balrogs, and not Sauron. Please I'd advice that you do a bit more research on The Silmarilion lore before making these videos in order to not be wrong on some key aspects of Tolkien's amazing legendarium.
Keep up the good work and hope to see more videos!
Hello, thank you for your comment! I appreciate your feedback and the love you have for my videos! I think you didn't watch my Silmarillion videos chronologically. I mentioned Sauron as a commander of Angband, not the chief among the servants of Melkor. The line for Gothmog is mentioned in a few videos later. Additionally, the Two Trees are the theme of the video before this one. I try to maintain a professional and epic tone for the documentary style of my narrative. Regarding Sauron, I had to include that badass animation at the end of the video.
Here's the playlist in chronological order: ruclips.net/video/PkYhxLk2_Vs/видео.html
@@TalesoftheRings ok great. Thank you for pointing these out and I really appreciate the time you put in, in making all your videos wonderful and super entertaining. I will check out the playlist you have suggested later on. I am a fan of your style and every video you've put out is carefully thought out and I'll be sure to keep a lookout for future uploads. I just love the works of Tolkien so much that I want every documentary out there about it to be perfect. But have in mind that I am not an expert in the works of Tolkien and I too might be subject to misconceptions on certain aspects of the legendarium but I do my best to research what I don't understand in order to clear any doubts.
Tales of the Rings? or Masterpiece Theatre?
By the Valar; worthy of Tulkas....
Thanks man 😊
@@TalesoftheRings No prob. Just nice to get a response before your channel explodes to 100k subs and us we're forgotten.

Good video, however I wold like to say the music was unnecessarily loud, making your own voice hard to hear.
