    Dude, you’re an incredible runner and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise! You’re already way beyond most high schoolers, as I’m a freshman and only run a 5:11, and our best runner who’s a sophomore is only doing 4:55. Keep it up man you’re going places!

      Same, also a freshman who ran a 5:11, best player on our team was a junior who ran a 4:48 time trial, pretty similar circumstances

    Nothing to hang your head about dude. 3rd at the state meet as an 8th grader is crazy! I’m a freshman and I made it to state my first time this year while watching your content.
    You will only get better from here, so keep going man. It’ll be no time before you win state. Ready for XC!

    I know how it feels for a season to not go as planned bro. I had dreams of making states in the 1600 this year but fell way short, 4:47 was my quickest time. And I'm a senior in high school! I've got mad respect for your talent and work ethic

    Hey man, I'll get to train with you for XC this year, I'm so excited to see what you can do in XC man! By the way, I was in the same situation as you. Last year, I went from a 5:56 to a 5:26 in 1 indoor track season and thought I could break 5 minutes in the mile in the next season. I ended up running 5:46 for my last mile and was really aggrovated and lost most motivation to even train for XC because I only cared about the mile and improving my time and not about having fun with the process. I still haven't broke 5 in the mile and I'm about to be a senior this year but I'm at a 5:11 right now and I know I can break 5 this season, but I have been focusing on having fun with the sport and enjoying the process and it's felt a lot better, and I haven't burned myself out either because I'm not over training so that's a +. Don't get discouraged about not hitting sub 4:30 this year, you'll get it eventually, for now, just enjoy the training and careful not to over train yourself and burning yourself out. You have an amazing future, and I'm really excited to train with you. I wish you goodluck on the sub 4:30 mile!

    @Amogus-qw5ph 7 месяцев назад +1

    Hey man im gonna show you how you can run sub 4:30.
    Ramp up your milage until around 80 miles a week. Also do double threshold. Most of the best runners in the world do this now.
    Monday: 8 miles + 4x100m in spikes. Tuesday: AM-5x5 minutes at threshold PM-8x1k at LT. Wednesday: 10 miles Thursday: AM-fartlek PM-20x400m at 78-82. Friday: 8 miles + strength Saturday: Hill reps 18x200m Sunday: Rest or long run.
    Jakob ingebrigtsen uses this formula, i think it suits you too.

  • @ttfresh
    @ttfresh 7 месяцев назад

    Good try! Sometimes you set goals and don't reach them, I had also set goals this track season and wasn't able to attain them, but I'm not disappointed because I see how far I've come since last season and even tho I didn’t hit my goal I'm still proud. You should be too. 4:42 is very quick.

    Recommendation. Although you are a lot better than me and you're a middle schooler, I believe changing your strategy in championships was not the best idea. Stick with something you know you can do so you can keep a good final kick.

    Don't worry about this race, you are a natural xc runner and most people don't have it both ways. I've never seen a hs runner win nationals in xc and then win nationals in track. Especially with your work ethic, you will be one of the best Freshman xc runners in no time

    I mentioned in a previous video that your sub 4:30 goal was a bit too much for this year... it's good to hear you recognized that. 4:42 at your age is outstanding (or any age really). With your solid work ethic you'll shave off a bit each year through high school. You sound excited for the cross country season and I hope you're able to repeat as state champion. That's an achievable short-term goal.
