This is my take on food supposedly 'consumed' by hungry ghosts. My sister once gave me some food after an offering to the hungry ancestral ghosts on the 15th day of the 7th Lunar Month. I took them home & kept them refrigerated for the next day's meal. They turned charcoal black the next morning! This could be due to the food essence sucked out (completely?) by the hungry ghosts. Just like ghosts can deplete your device batteries. Joss sticks are also another 'consumerables' for the hungry ghosts. I have not seen but heard from some that ghosts suck or breathe in the joss stick smokes. Ghosts do possess animals in order to partake of the food offered. I attended a ceremony for the hungry ghosts whereby a Sifu threw sweets & other small food as offerings. Suddenly, a flock of black crows came from nowhere & ate the offerings just like the very hungry, hungry ghosts! My Q: Can a Kwei Lou Kwei (Ang Mo Kui) also consume joss stick smokes? My most memorable scene of The Eye movie is when a roadside ghost licked the irresistible roasted pig meat (Sio Bak) displayed within reach in an entrance stall. B'cos it couldn't enter the restaurant guarded by Deities. Come to Penang where you can see many 'Hungry Ghosts', both mortals & disembodied lining up at famous food stalls at food havens in Kimberley Street, Lebuh Keng Kwee, New Lane & Upper Penang Road!!!
thank you for sharing. With regards to kwei lou kwei, I think they would work off a different paradigm. My understanding of the supernatural is that they manifest based off belief system.
Regarding the taste of food after praying the ghost, I feel that after the prayer. the taste change a bit & it turns bad very fast. I have a friend with a third eyes who says that during the prayer for the ghost, they really crowd round the table, sniffing & using their tongue to lick the offerred food. What do u all think?
Have you heard (vocally) of a truly hungry, hungry, hungry ghost? It was a quiet late afternoon (5.00pm) when I was having my usual short break from work & reading a book in the kitchen of a day-care centre. Then the peace was disrupted by a hair-raising hungry "eerrrrrr" that came from my back, past my right side & straight towards the back door. It was a female voice that resembled a person in sort of pain & desperation & yet in high hope! My immediate suspect was that cheeky boy student who loved to play pranks on me from my back such as whispering ghostly "eerrrrrr". I stood up & went to the front to check but found that boy was attending tuition! Then realising he was not, & the "eerrrrrr" was not my imagination, my whole back felt a cold hair-raising! Immediately leaving the centre to avoid another encounter (who knew she might be waiting at the back door), I calmed down to make some sense of it. Then the smell of burning paper offerings alerted me to realise it was the foreboding 15th day of the Hungry Ghost month. Being a Kay Po, I went to the back lane & saw people burning Hell's money & offering food. So, this was probably a Kia Su lady ghost, who having to wait for a long year for free money & free food came dashing in desperation to the back lane, even with all the energy to "eerrrrrr" not realising my 3rd eye abilities (to hear) or intentionally to scare me! Note: this day-care centre harboured many ghosts & entities who were not shy to 'express' themselves - vocally, visually & digitally (in CCTV).
😂 Customer/Army camp should order alot more Grab food & Food Panda delivery during 12am-3am times. Promote Healthy Rider lifestyle & let them Enjoy their GoostBump while riding.🤣😁😅 Shock Sia.
Sadly the problem is grab now charges alot for delivery for weekends such as 5 to7 dollars lucky for me 7 month ghosts don't scare me but delivery charges do
