When people translate them and add subtitles, they usually specifically 'encode' it. This reduces file size a lot and also results in a bit of loss in quality. Piracy websites take these encoded versions, compress them and add them to their servers. This results in further quality loss. Anime that you watch in websites thus have lower quality than the original untouched RAW files from the blu-ray.
