great stuff, lovely minis on both sides, look forward to more!!!
Don't worry Tom! The battle of the Bulge is not over. We have some more FOW coming in April.
Guys quick editing tip: When you are using text on screen you should leave it up long enough to read it twice through quickly. This is more convenient than expecting your audience to pause to read the text as this breaks immersion.
For example; knowing that it is coming I can just about read through the text at the start in the 7 seconds you have it up for. I would therefore I would leave time the text at 14 seconds from fade in to out.
Just saying.
Keep up the excellent work, I look forwards to every new video you post, thank you for all your hard work and dedication.
:)
thanks for the suggestion, we will keep that in mind when we produce our next batrep and thanks so much for watching!
Orrrr... you just pause the vid, read it and don't be a whiny bitch.
Great batrep. Couldn't believe how many times the Germans missed or infantry failed save. Commandos pinning the infantry platoon was key.
Tell me about it :) The Germans missed a lot however it was more than balanced by the fact I couldn't make a 4+ morale test for my Infantry four turns in a row or fail all my reserve rolls.
small bases only hit of a -1 if they are models with 2 or less teams in your army diagram
this is stated in the rules I will look up the page pg57 EXCLUDING UNIT AND FORMATION COMMANDER
so basically piat , bazooka teams etc
Hi Philly, you are absolutely right. Thanks for the comment and checking us out!
Awesome :)
Thanks man!
there was one german stand you forgot to remove at 8:14 after the saving throws resulted to 2 1s
really nice board
Thanks!
Great video. Small command teams with 3 models don't get the +1 to hit in Assault.
I told them and the page to look at it again
oops sorry for the repeat.
5:30 In it says he Blitzed his armored cars onto the road and then dashed. Blitz specifically says you can only move at tactical speed after a Blitz. Although I don't know what the German rules are maybe they can.
Nope. Nothing special for Germans. Just looked at rule and it does indeed say tactical move only. Think I've probably missed that one in Team Yankee too.
Good catch
All Miniatures Great and Small new edition and drastically different movement but now you'll remember. So easy to be a Monday morning quarterback and disect things.
Thanks for pointing it out, we are always trying to improve our gameplay. I think in a game as complex as Flames of War there will always be rules issues come up.
hard to believe Mark beat you.
Yes... we are noticing that the defender is having a hard time under Version 4.
Where can I buy that book to play 4th ed late war?
If you have an old copy of V3 you can take it to your local game shop (assuming they carry FOW) and get a copy of the rules and the EW/LW conversion book for free. www.flamesofwar.com/hobby.aspx?art_id=5410
Makes alot of sense thank you! You should try out a game called Spectre Operations! looks cool !
I'll have to check it out
A question for anyone who plays this actively. I’ve been looking at Flames videos, and I was curious, how to the British and Americans play differently? I know that the British have a ton of lend-lease armor, and both would have well-integrated submachine guns, so what makes them differ, other than halftracks?
In game there are alot of differences. Big ones having do do with National Special rules. For Example British Shermans take advantage of the Semi-indirect fire rule. You want them sitting still at long range to re-roll misses. While American Shermans have Stabilizers which make them better at the close range run and gun style gamplay. Organizations are different too, American Sherman platoons are often bigger and with more options to mix models of tanks. Brit Platoons are smaller and not much variation beside adding Fireflies. So while equipment and stats are sometimes the same the special rules, formation organization and so on makes them play on the table top dramatically different.
Thank you very much for that. I've been binging your videos recently, and it's really cool to hear from you guys! What would you recommend for a new player? I'm stuck between british and american, and I'm thinking of playing infantry with armored and arty support. I know the British have bulldogs, but past that, I'm pretty split.
That's a hard call. I'm an American player so I'm biased. Ihowever if you are looking for an Infantry based force you can't go wrong with Americans. American Rifle platoons have plenty of stands, can take losses and keep moving, lots of great support options. US Armored Rifles are even better! British infantry is great as well, but typically smaller sized units that can't take as much punishment. Good luck!
Thanks! I was thinking of waiting this later month for the Enemy at the Gates release. I've always had a slight bias to the Commisar infantry rush stuff in 40k, so russian infantry seems up my alley!
what ersatz panthers/stugs?
Disguised german vehicles, made to look American
Yea more v4 :D
We plan on having more V4. We should have another one out in the next couple of weeks. Thanks for watching!
weeks!!~!!!! u mean days
I guess these guys gone respond to our comments
Hi Philly, Thanks for watching. While we try to get to all comments we can't get them all immediately. Thanks for watching and pointing out some rules we missed.
oh and you don't HAVE to use stabilisers
Hi Thomas, I'm pretty sure that in V4, unlike V3, it's not an option. If you move you must use the stabilizer rule.
haha I must have been looking at some old rule then @@AllMiniaturesGreatandSmall
So when will we see more robotech? Or even better, Battletech? :)
funny you should ask, we actually have the game table set up to film a Robotech game this weekend. Look for a release soon.
Battletech might be a while as I haven't touched the game in 20 years, of course now I have the mechs to play with :)
We do intend to do more with Heavy Gear as well if you need a giant robot fix
crazy to see 2 list but no arty.. that's almost a FoW sin and the Sherman's 105 don't count..
don't have any Hvy Mortars painted up for winter and they are the only option available for the German list.
US also had a whole 81mm half track mortar platoon...
Why don't you count the Sherman 105s? Due to the new Artillery rules I think they are actually better. They are also in the core formation so bonus for morale. In this game they just didn't get a chance to fire a bombardment, MGs were a better choice in this circumstance.
also, not sure how much the Hvy mortars would have helped me. The only viable target was Pinned all game and the mortars would have probably started in reserve.
well I'm not savvy on all the new rules. so I'm not sure if the 105mm Sherman's are better then the normal 75mm ones. I'm just a fan of cheep 105mm with staff teams.
getting sick of all that terrible German bad rolling
