My first guitar with a cool tube preamp I still have. Its funny I bought a TNV340 but the previous model was the same only without the CTP-1 (the ENV340) so they just stamped a "T" on the label inside the guitar and threw a CTP-1 in there. When blended with a Takamine Triax soundhole humbucker, there is no better plugged in acoustic sound on the planet still to this day and I honestly believe we will go another 20 years before any other guitar manufacturer gets anywhere close to the sound you get from that combination. If you are a gigging acoustic player, you owe it to yourself and your audience to get one so that you sound your absolute best at live shows
Good informative video. This does not process any type of alternate tuning on the fly does it? You said you can vary the pitch. I wasn't sure what you meant. I would probably have to run it through a Roland VG-99 or GP-10 (midi/synth) to accomplish that.
Not sure I see the value of the pitch control on the tuner-surely it would be quicker just to tune by ear? Or am I missing something? 🤔 Otherwise, I just bought a TC 132SC, and really like the electronics …. 😎
Does anyone know if this CTP-3 preamp is less noisy than the CTP-2 ? I bought a Takamine TC132SC recently with a CTP-2, and man is it noisy! The noise floor is too loud, and it's annoying.... Did the CTP-3 fix this issue?
I own a Takamine EG523SC G series Jumbo, S/N 4432674. Having problems with its TK-40 preamp, as it's cutting in and out with volume at times. Someone told me it might be from corrosion inside the enclosed unit, or that the Volume pod needs cleaned. Also the framing surrounding where the preamp sits in the guitar, is made of plastic, and two small portions of it have broken off, just from taking the preamp in and out of the guitar. But I don't think that has anything to do with this problem of mine. SOOOO my Question is this ------will this CTP-3 fit my guitar? Frankly, in doing this research, I think Takamine does an awful and therefore, unacceptable job in this area, as to which preamps they sell out there, FIT which Takamine Guitars, series, models, etc. It might very well be my last Takamine purchase. It does seem that newer preamps for Takamine guitars have an easier method of changing batteries, right from the unit itself, therefore not requiring you to take the unit out of the guitar. Hopefully someone might have an answer for me, even if it's not from Takamine.
It looks like it is a standby button. When you're taking a break from playing, standby will cut down the voltage going to the tube so it doesn't wear out as fast.
I still like the CTP-1 best of all. I am really pissed that Takamine doesn't import their high end guitars into the united states any longer. I have one of the very first TNV340's that I adore, its the only gear I will never sell and that says a ton. Especially since I can never get anything even close to it now that these higher end models dont make their way to the US
As a soon to be convert to Takamine, your comment "really pissed that Takamine doesn't import their high end guitars into the united states any longer" piqued my interest. Would you mind elaborating? I ask because I found a number of high-priced and beautiful Takamine guitars. Maye high-end does not equate to high-priced and beautiful. Thanks.
@@GreenGJ Their master luthier built guitars are no longer imported into the united states, unless something has changed since my comment. Models like the Nashville series ( TNV), long gone
A green LED will start flashing to let you know the bettery level is getting low. This happens long before there's any degradation of the signal, giving you plenty of time to swap out new batteries.
@@TakamineGuitarsUSA Awesome ! Thanks a ton, I have had several 7 and 8 series Taylors and have to say I LOVE this pickup so much that my Takamine is now my go to!

I have this pickup on my TC135SC. It is a terrific sounding pickup. Highly tweekable for a variety of tone. Well thought out design.
Excellent, I had no idea about many of these features!
Any plans of making this in an outboard unit for use with other guitars. This would be a great addition to my guitar pedalboard if there was one.

GOOD MORNING, ON Takamine TH5C Hirade HOW MUCH HOURS DO THEY SURVIVE THE FOUR AA BATTERIES? THANKS

Thanks but it would help if we could actually hear it in some demos.
As that is the main reason for it, right😏?
What is the STANDBY switch beside the cool tube adjust for?
Mine has no evvect on the sound.

Tell me please will this preamp fit the model Takamine NPT-012-BS? or better ct4-dx?
great upload +3 will these preamps fit into other guitars like Ibanez or Breedlove acoustics?
no
Thank you for the video. But you didn't mention the button to the right of the cool-tube knob. Could you tell us what that is?

Does this pre amp for in all takamine guitars? I have a 1994 Santa Fe series.

Do the preamp works with nylon guitars?
Yes, the top end Takamine Nylon comes with cool tube preamp, it will fit in existing takamine model with palethetic pickups but not lower end models.
Yes. Takamine TC132SC
Yes it does. I own a Takamine TH5C Hirade, and sounds really good 😎
Will this fit in a takamine 360 sc?
Sorry maybe a stupid question: does It need the 9volt battery or not?
It uses four AA batteries.
thank you
Batteries only last about 25 hours, so need to keep fresh ones with you at all times.
Ct4 b best tuner and easiest to use from Takamine , 9volt battery last over 100 hours not kidding 👍
How do you know your battery level??
A green LED will start flashing to let you know the bettery level is getting low. This happens long before there's any degradation of the signal, giving you plenty of time to swap out new batteries.

Doesn't have the Phase button?
The CTP-3 Notch filter performs the same function as a "phase" (found on many other makes such as Fishman). It is used to manage/reduce feedback.
Takamene
Me gusta el Sistema mas no el modelo de la Guitarra.
so ugly on the side of a guitar, i just hate it
Worse on the front, and totally impractical on the back 🤪🤓😛🥳😵💫🙄
then go find another guitar,
I like it. The best looking system actually. My favorite! I hope they'll never change it!
Coalmine, Goldmine, Takamine !
would this retrofit my accuracoustic preamp?
no
