Chico Lopez is known worldwide for his love and dedication to the, "Real American Pitbull Terrier". CHico shares with you his insight and understanding of the breed that he has dedicated his life to. I know the breed and the man are not without their controversy, I asked for the sake of civil discourse you engage this video with a critical and academic approach. Conflict in life is expected quite honestly it's necessary but as a community I hope we can remain constructive and productive in our discussion of this amazing dog breed.
Hi I am the owner of Ernie the now six month old Chico Lopez puppy i Can say for a fact that he is the most loving smartest fearless best temperament dog I have ever had keep up the good work mr Lopez 👊🏿
It wouldn’t hurt to give a little credit to Southern Kennels, Rast, Patrick, Hollingsworth or Tant. His whole foundation is built on the work of these dog men. I can never understand if he’s breeding to produce the best pets or the best game dogs? Is he breeding two different Mayday lines? No doubt Chico knows what he’s talking about and his record speaks for it self. Breeding the best pets in the world is not preserving the breed. Selling game bred APBT’s as great pets is not responsible. I love Mayday blood but “real APBT’s” are not appropriate for most dog owners.
All I gotta say as a dog owner is this is true inspiration and I am a breeder of English bull terriers and I completely feel 100% the same way about my dogs as chico Lopez does about his pitbulls and I am truly grateful to have had the opportunity to see this interview with him ty for doing this interview with him not only was I inspired but I actually learned something about his passion for the breed
I watched all 2 hours of this video salute.
This was a good interview, but I am a bit confused now. I remember another video on this channel interviewing another historian by the name of Richard Stratton called "ALL ABOUT THE AMERICAN PIT BULL TERRIER WITH RICHARD F. STRATTON"
In that video, Stratton called the breed the original Bulldog and mentioned how they were catch boar and bulls and have been around for about 400 years. Here, it sounds like Chico Lopez is saying they have been around for about 180 years with dog fighting as their original purpose. Who is right? I am leaning towards Stratton being right, because the third historian interviewed on this channel was with Diane Jessup. She also said they were catching boar and bulls and have been around for about 400 years.
I have not seen the other interviews but maybe they meant the old english bulldog, who is a progenitor of the American Pitbull terrier, togheter with the old english terrier.
Lol RS is the godfather of the pits. Lopez is not in the same league. It's like comparing a Volkswagen with a Porshe. They're both German cars, but there is a huge quality difference. Lopez breeds pits, yes. But how much gameness have they in them, and can they work, or is it just the looks? That's the question. My guess is just the looks. He looks more like a sales guy than an original breeder.
@@chiararosati2162 I don't claim to be as knowledgeable as Stratton or Jessup, but I have been involved with the fighting breeds for over 30 years now. The way I see it, fighting dogs were brought over to the US from the UK. What is now the Staffordshire Bull Terrier is the English version and progenitor of the APBT. The English Bulldog too was brought over, and it became (the various versions of) the American Bulldog. In other words, the APBT is an evolution of the English dogfighting dog, not of the English Bulldog. Again, IMHO of course.
@@AllAhabNoMoby if you look at old carvings in the caves and read the description those dogs were called bulldogs and look like the pitbulls of today. I don’t know much about these new lines but the old game bred dogs (Jeep, Snooty, Red Devils, Hemphill/Maude and of course Colby dogs) I’m still a student of. I won’t even call them American because they were brought to America in the early 1900s by people like John P. Colby.
@@dougpoole1403 ;) You are going back a long way. The dog I'm talking about is the mix between terrier-types and bulldogs that was desirable after bullbaiting was banned. The lighter smaller type that was used for badger baiting and dogfighting. We're talking 19th century here. Some were as small as 12kgs.

Chico is a legit guy. Some folks are offended by how he presents his points but one thing I can say is the guy is very passionate and as knowledgeable as anyone you can find about the breed. I bought a pup from him a couple years back and till this day with such a busy life, this dude has always made himself available whenever needed and is very responsive. Most of the so called "dogmen" who hate this guy have a lot less going on in life and don't even go the extra mile like that. Most of them want nothing to do with you after a sale. I think he's one of the great representatives for the breed in its current state and moving forward.

Your own perspective is ultimately what's going to drive what actually ends up happening in your life: People hate on Chico Lopez, people talk, people cherish those easy, go-to opinions, but this man is just so damn inspring. The harder you work and the more you develop, and the higher you climb, internal battles just get weirder and weirder - and this guy shows you that you have the option to just keep doing your thing, you can hold fast and keep seeing things the way you want to see them. You don't necessarily have to seriously consider and rationalize what others perceive. It's your own perspective that's what is ultimately going to drive what actually ends up materializing in your life.

Overlook all the negativity and hate towards Chico Lopez. Give him a try and you’ll see he’s not just a great man with incredible dogs but you will also see he’s 100% honest and with a lot of good knowledge about the apbt and a true business man turn friend. I’m speaking from my personal experience of doing business with Chico Lopez. I use to listen to all the hate towards Chico and it kept me from doing business with him. I decided to give Chico a call and in the beginning we had a miss understanding but it was quickly solved and Chico and I talked like to friends that knew each other our whole lived. To sum it all up. Please give my friend Chico Lopez a try. You won’t regret it.

Enjoying the GREAT FRIENDSHIP with the American pit-bull terrier, travelling all over the world, having dogs of different bloodlines and knowing personally many many people who call themselves “Dogman” I can say that the only one real Dogman of nowadays is Chico Lopez as a rare type of a REAL Gentleman, Man of honour, principles and high values in dogs and life in general. He is the only one breeder I know who is a real Scientist in what he do, who know the dogs on the molecular level and feels them by his 6-th sence. He escalated the breed from the bottom of the forbidden dogs, “dogs of the thugs” to the forgotten level of a great dog of the past , dogs that were the symbols of the real and powerful USA, dogs of best people. APBT is a dog of Presidents in the past, dogs of politicians, lawyers, doctors, engineers, sportsmen and other people who appreciate and love in these dogs their unique combination of power and kindness, smartness and love to play with you, brave hearted warriors and best lovely friends in life who love people, who love children and who are willing to give their life for them if needed.

This is an unpopular opinion here but American pit bulls were selected and bred for their fighting ability.
So was the English bulldog. If ppl can breed the aggression out of them then ppl can do it for the APBT.

Breeding dogs ans bring a breeder can be seen differently to different people. I know a few people who breed working/sporting dogs who don’t consider themselves breeders

Something people don't mention a lot is all of the self sacrificing hard work chico has done for less fortunate communities around the world. Ecuador, Peru, Ukraine, Japan, Brasil, USA, the list goes on. Guardian of the breed describes him perfectly.

I know Mr Chico Lopez personallyremember ,The first Shake of hands when We met few years ago and when He Looked into my eyes. And This is how it’s started .... 🙂 I’ve been in APBT dogs for more than few years and had many different bloodlines and travel around Europ from west to east including Balkans. What can I say now .... This Man show me what greatest honesty loyality trust hard work knowledge and human Gameness is.
First I’ll say few words about The dogs The are awesome- that's the best word to describe them.
I have never This type of dogs seen before NEVER !!! Totally compleat dogs as I read about APBT but never seen . First The most important thing for me is thair character because i have kids. Thay are breed with perfection and big knowledge about Genetic and behavior. Totaly trust This dogs and trust me I have few From Mr Chico and never seen any bad behavior my kids love tham and dogs love my kids as I ❤️. Total trust smartness with inteligence and sense. I can write many things more but I understood it After I get tham and start spending my time with kids and dogs. This has soul its amazing , its something I i read about history of APBT and guess what ! It realy exist conected with super genetic health inteligency, power and so on. Trust me I’m regular person living in east europ working same as athers people here for familly and life.
Our friendship is based on trust hard work , love , and happynes❗️Trust me i have same problems as ather people but Chico helped me how to grow mentally.
He has always good to me and to my kids he helped me to rebuild my contact with kids inspired me together with His dogs with soul . And trust me because i Heard a diferent opinion from suffering people who don’t have his dogs. The opinion is simpl . It’s not about money and so on its about hard work , picking up The level in every aspect of life even in contact with my kids. Yes It’s tru its not for narrow- minded people, lazy , and complaining it is for those who love life , chalengess, being happy about small things and fighting for more and more not money and materiał things but from happyness not from material things but from everything even problems.

People who say that Chico talk other people down and he only praise his bloodline,people who know Chico they know how honest and is very direct it talks the way it is and this is what people should listen very carefuly! Having opurtunity to get advise and knowledge from you its an honer.I have dogs for a long time and i know about dogs more than all those people who talk bad or low about chico and i can asure you none of those people will reach levels Chico reached and not even close yes not even close! Like i said i had dogs for a long time i never could find what i wanted or get what i wanted bc having an avarage dog that everyone has it was not enough for me.Today i have somthing that can look back and say,man Chico Lopez was the key of where i really wanted to go and that with his advise and friendship and his honesty now im able to say yes this is what i wanted! Chico Lopez dogs are a different level i can say that bc i have his dogs and know the difference between his dogs and avarage dogs.nothing like a Chico Lopez dogs🥇
My pitbull has Intrepid Spirit, courage, loyalty, and love for me that defines the best thing about "the best dogs, no matter the breed". I live in the country, on acreage. Noah and I were making our rounds, down to the pond, to check cows, horses, etc. Noah was loping around like a big pup, across the pond from me. I never saw the ferrel hog coming. She hit me from behind and opened me up from behind my knee to the top of my thigh, did not know me down but she was making another run for me when Noah hit her so hard, she knocked the hog over. And went to it. I regained my composure, pulled my 45 and ended the hog. Sad to say I'm sorry I had to kill her but she would have killed Noah, because Noah would never stopped as long as I was in danger. We ended up finding 14 little piglets, that we caught and took to a friend's "hobby farm" to be raised. Noah and I each got alot of stitches, but we survived and are smarter for the experience.

I respect him for what he has done in the dogs but it's not about his dogs it's about the person he is and that's what is wrong with him is HIM!
I respect him too. Its the man behind the dogs and he has made a lot of legendary dogs. I can't think of anyone who has been a more active defensive force internationally for our breed than chico.

I asked a couple people, all they keep saying is his dogs don't "fight to the death" like theyre supposed to or something along those lines and the same people hating on chico will turn around and stud out his dogs for 800.00 a pop and then call chico a fake dog man when theyre studding dogs out to any one with a thousand dollars. Its just jealousy as far as i can tell.
I suggest listening to chico channel and youll see his genuineness, and if you listen to the other channels you can hear the jealousy in their voice they cannot hide it. There is nothing wrong with that there is an audience for everything in this world cuz in reality theyre just pushing more people toward chico.

Lopez and Stratton have been friends for many years. They both are highly knowledgeable men in the breed. People like you just cry and complain about everything- it really doesn't matter, you will always have something negative to say..

But Alotta people say he’s full of it and try’s over selling his dogs along with other stuff. Some people hate him some love him. I personally think he got some beautiful dogs and wouldn’t mind having one

one thing that I dislike is that the apbt is being represented mainly in the buckskin color now a days. Although, I like the color, they came in alot of varies colors. And they should be represented as such.

Yeah they are dog aggressive but if someone as a dog owner of a pitbull cannot prevent that from happening then that individual isn't professional enough to own the animal, which would likely be A street level pitbull. What I find is that guy up north trying to breed what he calls the American lion hound ...what we have down here are hounds that have been bred to trail and catch lions in dry bare ground without the aid of snow ...if you search southwest dry ground lion hound you will see several of my videos pop up .

Back in the eighties in NYC there were ALOT of "dogmen" that rolled their dogs and called them "matches"...it was when I left the that area did I understand what a game dog and game match was.
