And according to neuropsychologist Ian Robertson, confidence can also make us happier. Robertson is the T Boone Pickens Distinguished Chair at the Center for BrainHealth, UT Dallas, an Emeritus Professor at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland, and author of How Confidence Works: The New Science of Self Belief. He and Dr. Sanjay Gupta discuss how confidence might be the most important resource for well-being and why imposter syndrome isn’t such a bad thing.

I like watching Bob Ross painting landscapes and one day decided to take a painting class with Bob Ross instructors. I'd never painted before and watched hours of Bob Ross before taking the class. At the end of the day, my painting wasn't even close to a Bob Ross painting but for me, it was GOOD. Things like that can give a person confidence, just by stepping out of their comfort zone and having a small success.

If we want to be happy then we need to change how many hours we work a week. Working everyday for 8+ hours to spend no time with your loved ones is depressing and nowadays youre working 8+ hours to barely be able to live we need a complete system reform but the ones in power will never do that unless us (the workers) make them.

I think this episode could’ve benefited from more discussion about *why* people come to lack confidence and the emotional/psychological context of a lack of confidence. It’s definitely useful to hear that most of us probably have some capacity to strengthen the neural pathways that contribute to confidence and a feeling of efficacy. But it also ends up sounding a little like confidence is something you
necessarily have meaningful control over, and that perhaps it’s even an individual’s fault for lacking confidence - “you’re not thinking positively enough.” My hunch is that one’s control over confidence is powerfully influenced by one’s experiences and it would be much more useful to address root issues. Not that this episode should be about *that *; the story just feels incomplete and maybe misleading.
Speaking of brain health... Has anyone conducted study using whole existing data on how many people are up at
2 or 3 am now for variety of reasons except job vs let's say, previous decade ?

Since 2020 l started to only trust my intuition! And all the decisions l made since than are the BEST l made in my life! I only travel... l get richer by doing nothing! I meet people much more interesting than my family! I follow the sun wherever he is!

Dr Gupta should be brought before the medical board and have his medical license suspended in my opinion. This guy diagnoses the President of the United States base on a hunch.
He never diagnosed him, he just expressed some concern bottomline you do not want to see the most powerful individual on the planet carry him/her self the way Pres Biden did against Trump in that so-called debate.
